“Not true but whatever makes you sleep at night, honey.” He replied with a wink, a sly smirk curving into his lips before nodding. “Of course we can start trying again.” His tone becoming more serious. “You know you don’t have to work at all, right? Like, I know the feminist in you is gonna yell at me for even suggesting it - plus you’ll go stir crazy if you don’t. But just know you don’t have to work. At all.”

“I can’t help that our children are perfect and amazing,” she sighed playfully, before smiling widely. “If we have another boy, I won’t stop trying until we have a girl so prepare yourself.”

“Hey at least trying’s fun.” Caleb mentioned with a sly grin as his arms wrapped tighter around the brunettte. “You gonna dress her up in dresses and paint the nursery pink or something? What have you done with my wife, huh?”

“Well, I’ve been crap at taking my birth control anyway” she shrugged alongside her husband. “You know, you don’t look that excited about more kids. Don’t you want a little princess who adores you?”

“Of course not,” Caleb quickly reassured her, a smile pulling at his lips. “I think I’m still in shock and a little overwhelmed, to be honest. You’re never gonna take that birth control again now are you?”

Riley felt the weight of rejection lift, she breathed a deep sigh of relief. “I know this may come as a shock to you but I actually quite like pregnancy,” she mused. “Besides, I kind of want a little girl. The world needs more little Riley’s out there.”

“Well, medically speaking breastfeeding is supposedly birth control,” Caleb shrugged his shoulders. “Which isn’t actually as effective as everyone says so, whenever you’re ready to start trying we can.”

His reaction incited a unnecessary embarrassment inside her. This was something she’d been thinking about for a while. Naturally, she assumed Caleb had too. “I mean.. don’t you?” Her hands pretended to be busy, moving things around their kitchen. 

“No, no-” Caleb started once what she said properly registered to him. “I mean, of course.” He blurted out without hesitation, his arms wrapping around her waist to stop her from fidgeting too much.  “I’m just in shock, that’s all. I didn’t think you’d wanna try so fast after Seb.”

“Should I remind you that you could’ve been my stepfather at one stage? That was your doing, not mine. You’re lucky she’s too old to get knocked up.”

“Well, thank you but I meant.. more like..” she made a nondescript gesture. “There’s not that many of them, are there?” Her eyebrows kind of raised to imply there was another meaning to her words.

“Wait,” Caleb said with confusion clear across his face. “Are you...” He thought for a moment. “Are you saying you want to try for more?” He questioned with a nervous chuckle.

“You know girls always mature faster than boys. She’s always going to be five steps ahead of him. You know, with her superior genes and all that.”

“Guess it’ll have to be one of the twins then, or maybe CJ.”

“Everything’s perfect. I just.. the kids, what do you think of them?”

“What do you mean? They’re amazing. You..you do an amazing job with both of them.”

“She’s learning to walk, it’s.. spectacular. How’s everything going with your little one?”

“God I hope Sebastian catches up. they’ll never get married if he doesn’t.”

“It may be hard to believe but I am actually happy. Keeping them apart is time consuming, sure but it’s a small price to pay for a healthy daughter and a great relationship.”

“Well in that case, good. I’m glad it's working. How is Thea anyway?”
