HIS STORY:

Preston Potter was born on July 31st 1994 and was a miracle baby.  His parents had been trying for 5 years to have a baby but each time they tried they just couldn't get pregnant.  They had given up all hope and stopped trying and that is when his mother became pregnant with him.  Her doctor told her "its when you stop trying that it actually happens." but after they had him they decided that they were going to adopt after that, do to the fact of all of the heartbreak that they had trying to have Preston.  His parents were never really around so it was just him and his two younger adoptive twin brother and sister who he pretty much raised as his own.

Preston has always been a fan of Sherlock Holmes he would sit in his room for hours with his younger siblings and just watch old Sherlock Holmes movies and do some research about the cases that Sherlock had solved.  He had told his parents that he wanted to be like Sherlock and they laughed in his face and told him that it was all make believe.  Preston wanted to prove them wrong, and boy did  he prove them wrong.  When he hit 20 years old he became a reporter for the local news station and he got to use some of the skills that he learned from watching all of those  movies when he was younger to be the best of the best.

HER STORY:

Born into the slums of Havana to a mother who was practically a child herself, Valentina Rubio grew up without any kind of love. Abandoned, she was forced into an orphanage that was a worse extension of her former life. Mismanaged and underfunded, children were left to fend for themselves among a lack of food, beds, blankets and any kind of support. Unknown to her, the orphanage sold child brides to the highest bidder and, at fifteen, she was sold to Diego Ramos. One of the most powerful men in Havana, the promise of his reaches had her hopeful for a new life. Diego didn’t want a wife, he wanted a slave. As soon as they moved to the United States, his abuse increased and he arrived home drunk or high more often than not. The situation came to a head when she began to fear for her life. Night after night, she’d wish for death over the abuse and the mistreatment of her husband. Until she couldn’t take it anymore. Out of desperation, she began to plot the best way to murder her husband.

She waited until she had the right opportunity and she took it. Then, she packed a bag and left without looking back. Taking all the money she could, she was quick to make her leave across the country and cut all ties to her past. She had to get as far away as possible, knowing that she would be murdered for what she’d done. For the first time in her life, the girl is able to choose her own destiny, though she remains concerned that her past will come back to haunt her. Though she lives with her sins and fear that it will all catch up to her, she has become someone else entirely. First step was securing a job as a cocktail waitress/bartender at Ring of Fire but don’t be fooled by her smiling face, it is hiding more than you could ever know.

HER STORY:

Born into a wealthy family in Galway, Ireland, Vidalia wasn’t always the person you know her as now. She was born Penelope Anne Clarke, a child prodigy, born to be successful and make her parents proud. Of course, daddy was an alcoholic, and mommy was bipolar, but whatever. They still did what they needed to do to make her the best she could be, including setting her up from a very early age for her life in performing by putting her in gymnastics and dance. As long as she was perfect, they were happy.

With perfection comes the pressure to be just that, and eventually, it became too much for her to handle. When she was eleven, she finally cracked, and luckily, her brother had already been broken by that time. Their childhood home conveniently burned to the ground, showing no mercy to their parents who remained inside it. She stuck around Ireland long enough to collect on her parent’s life insurance, ensure access to her trust funds, and say goodbye to her brother before making her run. Penelope changed to Vidalia, and she took her new identity and joined the circus.

She immediately fell in love with the life of the circus, getting to implement all of the things she’d spent her childhood learning and getting to find her freedom in the process. Of course, that freedom came with a price – she fell in love with a boy she performed with, endured his abuse, took a long walk down the dark path, and found herself pregnant with his child. He was not too thrilled, and his violence only worsened. It was nearly two years after learning she was pregnant that the circus “mysteriously” burned to the ground, and she took her daughter and instantly ran.

Now, after two years on the road, travelling, and performing and raising her daughter, with long term stops in cities along the way, she has somehow managed to land herself in California She is currently the owner of Ring of Fire, a Los Angeles club that offers something unique to everyone. Be careful, though, not everything about her is as it seems.

HIS STORY:

Silas was born and raised by a single mother who had to take care of two kids. She had escaped an abusive relationship with Silas and his little sisters father. They were in a shelter since he was seven years old, and it wasn’t until he was nine that they, his mother, was back on her feet and landed a stable job and income. Moving into a new apartment, Silas was very lucky to have an amazing mother like his own. His mother then remarried and his stepdad was more so like a dad than his own dad. Being the oldest of three now. He enlisted in the military after high school and rose through the ranks. He felt secure in his life and coming back home to California after years of being away because of his line of work. Coming home hasn’t been easy though, due to the trauma he constantly thinks about. He volunteers to help calm the raging storm in his mind.

HER STORY:

Born and raised in California Rosie was an only child to a pretty wealthy family. Her father was involved in politics and her mother was a professor at UCLA. She pretty much had a wonderful childhood for the most part. She had a wonderful nanny when needed and her parents all of the rest of the time. It was something that she didn't really understand at first having a nanny. However Rosie was more than raised right. When she got a little older her mother had put her into dance, cheerleading, beauty shows and so much more. She had taken the time out to spend more time with her daughter as she was starting to write her own book on education. This made Rosie happy.

As time went on and Rosie got older she dropped a few of the things her mother had her involved in. She did keep on with cheerleading though. All through middle school up until high school. When Rosie entered her sophmore year she had suffered a big tragedy where her mother had become sick and ended up passing away. Rosie took it super hard and sort of fell into a little depression. During this time she fell in with some people that were not good or her usual crowd. She began drinking and before she knew it she was at the hospital having an abortion. It was that moment when she realized she was not herself and needed to try to change.

She met a boy later that year and the two had become super close. Not your average guy he was a little odd but something about him brought Rosie towards him and she was not going anywhere. This of course made him happy and the two started to date. As high school went on she continued cheering and had a lot of rival cheers going with another team. However it helped her focus so much more instead of dwelling. As graduation approached she was so proud and so was her father. He had been there through it all even if he didn't know what was going on during her dark times. She graduated and got into UCLA for education. In just a moments time she was starting her first job at Webster as a 3rd grade teacher. Something she was looking very forward to.

Growing up in New York, it seemed like the Pruitt’s had it all. On the outside, they had the picture perfect family. Three kids, a family dog, and two parents who loved each other dearly.. Or so people thought. Behind those closed doors to that nice family home was a whole different story, and even unknown to the kids’ eyes. With her parents pushing her brother into the life of hockey, her sister excelling at her academics, Val was sort of that ‘lone ranger’ in the pack of three. Being the baby, they didn’t push her as hard as the others. Val was more of the partying kid when she got older into her teens. Seeing her sister go off to college and her brother create a name out in the life of hockey, Valentina was just living in the moment, unsure of which direction she truly wanted to go with her life.

The Pruitt’s kept their kids busy for several reasons, those still unknown. Mrs. Pruitt had found her husband cheating on her and the two were headed for a divorce. Not wanting to ruin what the two older kids had going for them, the secret was kept under wraps for as long as possible. The older Val got, the more jealous she was of her sister who seemed to have it all. Life in college seemed superior and she came back home with a man that Val couldn’t help but crush instantly on. Slowly picking up on her parent’s troubles, Val ventured off into a world of older men to ease her mind. Showered in gifts and money, Val finally had something her sister didn’t have, a sugar daddy.

When the news came back to Val that her sister had passed away during childbirth, her world stopped. Even though the jealousy ran through her veins just as much as her blood, it was like her family was falling apart. Her parent’s broke the news to Val and her brother which wasn’t exactly a shock to the female. Everything turned sour. Val leaned upon her sister’s husband for more support, which turned into a night alone together. With a missed period and a pink plus sign a couple weeks later, with no hesitation, Val packed up her items and made way towards California to break the news to Derek. Losing the baby brought heartache upon Val, but there was no reason to move back to New York to her ruined family. Settling down in California seemed to be the best bet. Still struggling to find her calling in life, Val now works at Vixens making more money than she thought she would’ve.

HER STORY:

Avery Nicole Kingston was born to Ethan and Kristen Kingston in Orlando, Florida. Everything on the outside seemed like a perfect little family, but on the inside, it was far from that. Her mother was a drug addict and her father was a drunk and abusive man. He would come home and hit her for no reason, leaving bruises all over her body. Avery couldn't go to school due to her dad not wanting anyone to find out what he was doing to her. He locked her in the house when he and her mother were gone making her do all the chores while they were gone. She was a prisoner in her house and just wanted to end it all.

When Avery got older she refused to stay in her house any longer. She wanted out and she felt the only way to do that was to end her life. She took a bunch of pills and ended up almost overdosing which her parents had no choice but to take her to the hospital. While she was there the doctor noticed the bruises and called the police afraid Avery had been abused. Avery told the police everything and got her parents put in jail. She ended up being put in the system due to being 12 years old. She ended up with a kind and wealthy family who loved her and treated her like she was a princess.

As she grew up, Avery started to rebel and became somewhat of a party girl. She saw herself heading down the same path her parents did but couldn't seem to stop herself. Her parents were starting to rub off on her and she was afraid of being just like them when she grew up. She didn't want to have kids and then treat them the same way she was treated growing up by her parents. After much fighting to be different, Avery was finally able to overcome the rebellious and party stage of her life. She straightened up and decided to become a makeup artist instead. She also wanted to act and make something of herself.

After college and graduating with a degree in acting and makeup artist, Avery decided it was time to live in the real world. She worked as a makeup artist for Disneyland until she was 21 and then worked her way up to movies and television. She began to make very good money off the hit movies and shows she worked on. Everyone loved her work and wanted to hire her for their movies and shows. While working as a makeup artist she also did her fair share of acting in big-time shows as well. While on the set of one of her TV shows she fell in love with one of her co-stars. What she didn't know was that he was married when she fell for him.

Eventually, his wife found out and divorced him. She confronted Avery, who had no idea until she was told that he was married to her. Avery refused to talk to him afterward, which angered her co-star. When no one was looking he abused her and raped her. What he didn't know was that she was already 3 months pregnant with his baby before all of that happened. She told the director what happened and the male actor got fired for rape. She never told him about the baby because she didn't want him trying to come back into her life again.

After 7 more months, Avery finally had her little girl Amara Christine Kingston. She was the love of her life and Avery vowed to love and cherish her daughter the way her parents never did for her. She was going to give her daughter everything in the world just to see her smile. What she didn't know was that her parents were finally out of jail. They were looking for her to punish her and they knew exactly where she lived. Avery had to constantly avoid them and get a restraining order put on them so they couldn't hurt her or harass her. All she wanted to do was live a happy life.

Now that she is able to live the life she wants to, Avery tries to work hard for her daughter. She loves her job and she is trying to move on with her life. She works for a lot of movies and has her own TV show called All Or Nothing that she stares in. She makes very good money all while taking care of her 2-year-old daughter Amara. She works with charities when she can and is also a very well known actress and makeup artist. She lives in Los Angeles and even returns to visit Disneyland from time to time. She loved the life she had now and she always tried to be the best person, mother, worker, and friend she could be.

Derek was born into a moderately normal family in New York. At a young age he took an interest in skating, his parents encouraging him to get better and better at it. When he hit middle school he decided to try out for the hockey team. From that moment on he ate, slept, and breathed hockey. When he reached high school he joined the team, exceling well in the sport, so much so that he was offered a scholarship for his hockey playing. For Derek it was a dream come true. He enrolled in NYU, his scholarship for hockey paving the way. He chose to major in physical fitness. While in college Derek met the love of his life, Reese. They stayed together all through college and eventually he was offered a position on the Jersey Devil's hockey team. His girlfriend soon became his fiance and her brother, to everyone's excitement, was also offered a position on the team. After graduating he married Reese and months later they found themselves pregnant. Life was utterly perfect. His world shattered when Reese went into labor. He lost his wife in childbirth, along with the baby as well. The man who had everything had suddenly lost it all. Due to his brother-in-law being on his team things started getting tense. His brother-in-law blamed Derek for his sisters death, claiming that Derek could of done more. Due to the tension Derek gets transferred to a new team, thus becoming a part of the LA Kings. He didn't like the idea of leaving everything he knew behind but he did, hoping to start a new life in California. Due to the loss he suffered he began drinking however since coming to California he has stopped, trying to start fresh. He also sees a therapist weekly.

HER STORY:

Blake Elizabeth Riley was the third child of Charles and Felicity Riley in the month of May and she seemed to be your average girl next door from California living with both parents and two older brothers. Behind closed doors was another story. Her mother and father both fought often, almost all day everyday if they were around one another, which caused Blakes mom to heavily drink breaking their family more and more apart. During these years Blake was mainly taken care of by her twin brothers Shawn and Samuel since she was only a small child. As the years went on Blake became withdrawn from the world and people around her and made herself more independent since her brothers were always gone doing sports and she had nobody to be around. When Blake hit junior high age (9th grade) her brothers were in their last year of high school, which meant they'd be leaving after that summer for college and it made her spiral into a depressive sate since her father and mother were still fighting and the drinking now took over both parents lives. it wasn't until the night before her brothers graduated that both boys came home around 10pm drunk and picked a fight with their parents over the young female saying they needed to step up for her sake, which ended up with one of the boys having a nice red hand print on their cheek from their father. Following the altercation the boys went to sleep, their room across the hall from Blakes which they woke up to fire alarms going off.

Blake was woken up quickly by her father who was still drunk and he was able to get the girl out of her second story window safely since there was no access out downstairs. That's when everything was red and blue around her, police and fire fighters asking question as they wrapped a wool blanket around her. it wasn't till she saw the hoses pushing water out into her house to realize she was now alone and her whole family was gone. She was then told that a candle on the small side table by the window caught the curtains on fire and it quickly took the whole house down with it. She bounced around from foster home to foster home, nobody wanting to adopt her, so she just kept herself busy and her nose in the books.

Blake was now 25 and still living in California. She finished school, got scholarships for higher education in hopes to make her family proud of her if they were still alive. With that being said she wasn't happy with her 9-5 office job so she invested her money she had saved for several years and she bought herself a speakeasy lounge which she named "Truth and Alibi." the truths she never told growing up about her parents problems which lead to the fire was her main name muse.

Cleveland, Ohio isn’t where most kids dream of growing up. To me, it’s because i didn’t know what a family really was. April 22, 1990 i entered this world and my parents? They had me and then put me up for adoption. I grew up in the system always in and out of trouble, even from the earliest of ages. It was at the age of four years old that I was kidnapped from the family I was staying with. No one had actually adopted me quite yet, but soon i learned that life sure as hell didn’t get any easier. While i was taken from the only people i really knew as family, the abuse had started a week or so after i was kidnapped. Forced to drink alcohol and use drugs at a young age, I found myself starting to develop a temper that I would live to regret. Getting older I was in and out of school, slinging crack on the street and found that writing music, tattoos and being the life of the party were my passions. Relocating to California was possibly a blessing in disguise. I needed to get out of Cleveland and fast. I moved around a few times before I made it back to California hoping to get my life on track. My music career was starting to take off and the rest of my life? It was falling apart faster than what I could deal with. I had a daughter when I lived in Cleveland and I barely got to see her when I did. It's like she hated me. I own the 27 Club coffee shop and i’m a singer signed with Interscope records. Living here in Los Angeles, I'm hoping to rekindle memories of my past so that I can fully get a handle on truly who I am and where I come from.

HIS STORY:

Born to an unstable mother and an absent father, chaos was bound to fill Enrique’s life before he had a chance to experience anything else. It’s truly a miracle that child protective services had not entered Ricky’s life before the age of 12, which is when his mother lost her battles with her drug addiction and died of an overdose. The Salazar family had no safe, responsible, or willing family members to take Ricky in so he entered the foster care system. His first two homes were quick stays, showing they were only involved to keep the children with minimal damage, ones that wouldn’t risk them from receiving their monthly checks. Once he was placed with the Kennedy’s, it seemed like maybe things were going to improve for Ricky, but the new home brought such a cultural shock to the young male. He had never been in an upper class environment, especially never experiencing private school.

The best thing was the opportunity for Ricky to advance in his school work, which wasn’t the option as he only had one interest, and it was music. Unfortunately, Ricky found himself in an unfortunate situation once again, as he was being sexually abused by the male music teacher. He knew no other coping skills other than using drugs or running away from the problem, so he chose to do both. He fled his foster home, deciding that the only person he could trust was himself and the streets were a safer place than anything rich private school or mansion home. Ricky’s main source of income for himself was busking in high tourist destinations. He was finally noticed by a producer and he felt his luck was turning around once again - this time for good. Ricky was dropped by the producer as soon as they got their hands on his music, which left Ricky without any money, a home, his dignity, and sanity. He set a small fire to the producer’s home, just enough to scare the male for what he did, but Ricky was caught before he could make it off the property. He was charged with aggravated arson and served a two year sentence, and is currently out on parole. Ricky’s barely staying afloat, but handling the day to day life as best he can. He’s working at Badlands Boardshop and living in a small shack close to the beach, taking it one day at a time, unable to maintain sobriety and risking going back to jail.

We’re excited to meet CASSIE SIMMONS. She’s currently twenty seven years old and is an owner/physician at Unbroken Medical Clinic and Womens Shelter. The ones closest to her say she’s compassionate, loyal and headstrong but some whisper that she’s stubborn, petty, and emotional.

HER STORY:

Cassie Simmons was born to Amelia and Kevin Simmons and she adored her parents. From an early age, Cass looked up to them and saw them as a role model. For the majority of her childhood, things were simple. Sweet. Not extravagant by any means, but decent enough that Cass never wanted anything more in her life. She showed a great interest in ballet and when her parents mustered enough money to send her to classes, they did. And Cass excelled at it and fell in love with the art form. She took ballet as serious as she took her studies and she had dreams of going professional with it. Up until she was seventeen, Cass had loved her life. She had done everything she had put her mind towards, and she spent almost every waking moment dancing. On the day she got accepted early to Julliard's School of Dance, her and her parents were over the moon about the news. They went to go celebrate and after a eventful night of dinner and happy moments, they went to drive home. Only they wouldn’t make it. A drunk driver careened into their car after running a red light, totaling their vehicle and killing Cass’ parents. The accident forced Cass to move into her dorm early and she threw herself into her studies and her dance. 

But the happiness she felt at school was overshadowed by the stress of being the best and trying to make her parents proud beyond the grave. In order to keep up, Cass dabbled in Adderall and any pain killer she could get her hands on. From broken toes to bruises ribs, she was used to the pain dancing brought. If you weren’t in pain, you didn’t dance right - that was Cass’ motto. Until she started getting sexual advances from her master coach at school. She tried to report him but he threatened to drug test her to prove she was lying. On the night of a career changing recital, her coach raped her in the dressing room of the school. When she tried to continue with the recital, with tears in her eyes and her body sore, she miscalculated a jump and her partner dropped her - breaking her ankle. Leaving Julliard after recovering from her shattered injury, Cass packed up her things in New York and moved across the country to California. She got accepted into UCLA on her grades alone, with a full ride for nursing. Not stopping there, she went through medical school and became a physician. She then opened a medical clinic for the less fortunate and low income families, as well as being a womens shelter for women seeking refuge. She currently resides in Malibu where her clinic is.
