Well someone had to feed this man! Look at him! He’s so hungry 🥺
Fishy is more than happy to oblige Simon in all the things he’s been neglected of for years. First step. Get that man something yummy to eat that isn’t a genetically modified food brick— AND a nice, crisp, cool, glass of water~
And yes, she fixed his arm from panel one to panel two. It’s got her special “bandage” over the nub
The tree Simon becomes in my Call my Name AU! I originally drew the concept of this tree way back in February actually, and chipped away at it a few days from each of the months leading till today, where I sat down and finished the conceptual design!
Things to know about the “Simon tree”/lore~
We have our lovely Fishy to show the scale, but even this doesn’t do the sheer size of this tree justice. This tree is ENORMOUS! Spreading its roots deep below the blood ocean in the domain I call “the deep dark”, where no man or submersible has ever even come close to entering, all the way up as it tries to grow right up to the surface!
When the SM-13 was destroyed by the Eel, the seedling shattered out of its glass containment, rapidly growing around Simon, encasing him deep within the core of this mighty tree, and consuming the body of the Eel. It has since slowed its growth significantly compared to the start of its “birth”, and now serves as a beacon of life within the blood ocean, maintaining a symbiotic relationship with both Simon, and the ocean.
The tree preserves Simon somewhere deep within it, not alive, but not quite dead…
If you have any questions regarding the tree, I’m happy to answer them in my ask box! I’ll likely even draw some pictures with the replies~
I’ve been working on this animation since the 24th and finally it’s at a level of quality I’m happy to post! I could’ve added more to it but I’d rather just post it instead of putting it off and never finishing it (technically I think this is my second animation ever!)
I drew this all in Procreate over a few hours across two days, then decided to edit it all into the alight motion app-… Yeah. The quality was poopoo.
So a friend recommended I try my hand at doing it in Procreate Dreams. …it was definitely not quite as straightforward as alight motion, BUT after some hard work and determination, the results speak for themselves! The quality looks MUCH crisper and better for all the effort I put in, so I’m happy~
Simon; a convict hoping to serve his penance by joining a large crew tasked to scout out and colonize a new planet. Complying to cryogenic slumber, he awakens… but not at the destination that was charted. He is alone, submerged deep in an ocean within the ruins of the ship, taking a life pod along with a strange A.I. called E.L.L.I. up to the surface. With no other humans about, Simon is determined to find them, harboring hope someone, somewhere, must have also survived-… Surely he couldn’t be the last, alone on this alien ocean planet. Surely… he’d find his way to the others. Surely he would live.
I’ve been really enjoying watching play-throughs of Subnautica 2 since it released, particularly because I find the graphics and style of the game to be very beautiful and inspiring, especially the sky and sea in the starting biome at night! It’s just breathtaking when you look up and see that huge planet looming overhead, surrounded in a gorgeous aurora borealis, fluffy clouds, stars, and its spiraling rings! I knew I had to draw it! So, May 27th, late at night, I sat in bed for a solid few hours and cooked up this, all while listening to the game’s soundtrack! (Even the music of the game is quite pretty~)
I also felt it was a perfect side AU to merge Iron Lung and Subnautica 2 together, so perhaps someday you may see me drawing more of this AU~ Let’s just say, a lot more familiar faces will be involved in it from the Iron Lung universe
She was not particularly thrilled to watch “herself” maul and terrorize Simon. And she was so excited to see this human film…
I’ve got more doodles of this “comic” for the before and after of this scene, but wanted to post this today in honor of the movie releasing digitally on YouTube movies! Woo! I love Iron Lung! Can’t wait to watch it a billion times haha!
Even though I have yet to post the story (still working on completing a few chapters before I start posting), I was wondering if anyone would take an interest if I open an ask column for the Iron Lung characters in my AU with fun doodled responses from the characters/doodle requests (both digital and traditional art)?
You can ask questions about the characters themselves, potential questions about the AU, request doodles of them, perhaps interacting with them, and so on. Whatever inspires me~
Let me know if you’d be interested and hey! If you have a request or question in mind, I don’t mind you sending those to my ask box now. If it so happens I get enough requests, I’ll make an official post for it!
“Would you still love the stars … even if you might never see it her shine again?” ✮⋆˙ . . .
More versions below! ✮⋆˙ I’m really proud of this art! I started it yesterday and completed it today!
There’s deep lore implications in this piece that I can’t reveal just yet, but perhaps some of you clever theorists might be able to deduce some hints I’ve hidden in the piece~ Let me know if you have any thoughts in the comments!
I’m almost ready to start posting my Iron Lung main AU story, “Call my Name”!!! I’m so excited to share it with you all!
Also, do readers on tumblr prefer having word counts listed with each chapter? I notice some authors include them while others do not, and personally, I think I do like having a word count shown.
If you have any comments on the story, I’m happy to answer!
I write, A LOT. And majority of my cleaned up and polished works typically start in what I refer to as “scenario’s”. These scenario’s aren’t written in a bullet point format, but rather almost like a script. As I will be posting written works here and possibly on Wattpad, I’m curious to know what style my general audience would prefer? If you care to, please take the time to vote! Thank you
(Samples in the different formats - and yes, these are all genuine writings so consider them a bit of a sneak peek of what’s to come~)
Novel/Fanfic Format
“Those of you who are here today have agreed to undergo the Consolidation’s conviction realization program,” the Captain addressed, slowly striding with perfect poise and pace across the room, briefly eyeing each criminal in the row.
“We will assign tasks to each of you, but make no mistake; these tasks will be expected of you atop your daily contributions as you serve out your sentences,” the Captain stated, “The tasks will differ depending on the severity of your sentence, and once the Consolidation determines your penance served, you will earn your freedom and citizenship amongst us in a legal and binding way.”
“That being said, it’s of your own efforts that will show us just how seriously you take your freedom,” she concluded sternly.
Within the room were a group of convicts, each from differing cellblocks throughout the station. They were all handcuffed and silent. There wasn’t much to be said when you have guards practically breathing down your neck at every corner.
Two guards stood beside the Captain, one of which held a tablet with a list of each convicted criminal, their cellblock locations, criminal ID information, and their predetermined allotted tasks.
“Convicts of Cellblock A; step forward!”
There was a decent mix of convicts from both Eden and the C.O.I., but it was apparent even the criminal citizens of the Consolidation were hesitant to be anywhere near the Edenites, narrowed gazes not going unnoticed by the opposing party.
“Convicts of Cellblock B; step forward!”
Simon kept his head down and eyes on his boots, a picture of indifference and stoicism. At least, that’s how he preferred to appear to on the exterior. Showing weakness was the first step to getting yourself into a world of trouble, and once that facade was cracked, it was just an avalanche of misfortune and trouble that would follow.
As each convict was assigned tasks and even some grouped into tasks that required more than one, Simon realized he had been addressed and hadn’t responded quite fast enough. He silently scolded himself for allowing himself to dissociate too deeply.
“Eyes on me, Convict,” the Captain ordered, Simon just barely raising his head, the difference of their height making it enough for his gaze to meet hers, holding the Captain’s singular steely blue gaze, her left eye a milky white, enveloped by a gnarly scar.
“Ah. The “Butcher of Eden”,” she muses, though seems anything but stoic, holding a hand out beside her, a dutiful guard handing her the tablet, ignoring the way the convict before her stiffened at the name.
Simon only now began to realize the room was practically empty of all the convicts and guards, save for three guards beside the Captain, the other convicts having been ushered by the remaining officers to their tasks.
“You should consider yourself quite lucky, you know,” she stated as she scrolled through the tablet, her eyes on the screen, as though ignoring the towering man, the man who’d single-handedly laid waste to Filament Station, or so the story had been strung, standing inches away from her. That, or she simply didn’t care. Simon certainly didn’t. He couldn’t afford to care.
“Any other Captain would’ve had you killed on sight,” she spoke, only then turning her head upwards to face him once more, “But I’m a firm believer that you convicts are of more use to us alive than dead. There just aren’t enough of us left to be throwing lives away in this world.”
Simon said nothing at the comment. Whether it was meant to intimidate or assure him, it didn’t really do either.
“You ready to do some good for a change, Convict?” she stated more than inquired.
Simon knew better than to not respond when she was directly addressing him, just barely uttering over a whisper a simple “Yes ma’am.”

Scenario Format
Fishy’s concept of pain in relation to humans and Simon.
For example.
One day, Fishy is probably being extra touchy feely with Simon, and it’s grating on his nerves, so he sarcastically suddenly says “Ouch~” only for her to immediately recoil from him, hands held up, looking over him to see what she might have done to his “fragile human body”…
Simon sees her reaction and can’t help shooting her a dirty smirk, one that makes it clear, even to someone like Fishy, that he wasn’t hurt at all.
She scoffs, …and proceeds to slam her hand into his chest, Simon shoved back against a wall and wheezing as the air is knocked out of him, a good and genuine groan leaving his lips. Fishy won’t be fooled twice, at least, she thinks he’s messing with her again, turns tail, huffs audibly, and leaves him in the sub.
Simon will remember not to tease her about pain anymore—
I wanna give Captain Ava some love too, and started doodling this back in March! Just added more detail yesterday and today, and decided to post my progress thus far!
And yes, with my “version” of Simon, I imagine he’s a big boy ♡ I don’t have a definitive number for his height in mind other than likely somewhere around 6’2”-6’4” or so. Naturally towering over the majority of people, he often hunches in on himself to appear smaller.
Meanwhile Ava is on the shorter side. Again, no definitive number for her height, but she’s definitely not TOO short compared to the average humans left. But when placed alongside Simon, it definitely contrasts the both of their statures. Despite that, Ava often carries herself with confidence, her head held high and shoulders squared. She’s the Captain after all, and has many people looking to her for guidance and order.
✮⋆˙*ੈ✩‧₊˚ Down in the Deep Dark of the Blood Moon ✮⋆˙*ੈ✩‧₊˚
I genuinely love this piece. Drew it several days ago and just really enjoyed adding more and more to it.
This is my personal AU of a part of Moon AT-5 I call “The Deep Dark”, separate from the “Call my Name” universe. Where no man has ever gone, too far down, too perilous to survive. That which you see in canon is but the surface of the blood ocean, but beneath it all is a new world entirely, a world veiled in mystery.
Simon happens to be quite fortunate to when an alien native to the world chooses to protect him within it. Who knows what would have happened if he’d been left alone…
I’ll be posting more art for this AU as well, and perhaps some scenarios of it rather than a full fledged fanfic if anyone is interested! Let me know if you’d like to see that soon!
So… I’ve been drawing Iron Lung related art basically since the start of February, and have culminated more than 50 different drawings that are still left incomplete. From wholesome fluff, to fun and silly, to super angsty, and everything else, I’ve got quite the plethora. Here’s a close up of just one of the many detailed artworks I have yet to complete as a taste of what I am offering~
So I figure at this rate, they aren’t going to see the light of day anytime soon unless I magically develop the power to complete them all… and I’m just really eager to share all the art I’ve been making. It’s the perfectionist in me that can’t stand the thought of posting incomplete’s.
That being said… any of ya’ll interested in me posting a few of these work in progresses?~ Thank you for taking the time to vote ♡
Just a few doodles of little bebe Simon and his mother. Drew these on the 16th all through till today, and I still have more doodles of adorable little Simon, but those aren’t as completed.
I might just start posting my incomplete sketches though since I have so many… Let me know if that’s something you’d prefer in the comments!
