"Of course you will come back," he said, smiling shortly. He did provide her with the information needed so she could find back her mother, although the question was in what state she would find the woman. "If you fail to find her, contact me, and I shall continue to help you."
"Thankyou." The word was quiet, but sincere. With the information clutched in her hand, Kim left in search of her mother, eventually finding her exactly where Moriarty's information said she would be, beaten and barely alive, but alive nonetheless. Kim would stay by her side as she healed, but as soon as she was better, return to Moriarty's side.

"Sixteen is a good age, don’t worry, I didn’t mean anything by it. I specialize in Nuclear Physics, for now, but I’m working on getting my Ph.D. in Biology." He smiled.
"You seem a little young to be doing this sort of thing, but I know stories about eleven year-olds Captaining whole ships on the open sea. It’s not that big of a surprise that you could be doing this, it just means you got the guts to do it." Discouraging people was never in his agenda, even if they were young. He had been treated like he was stupid before, and he never wanted to make anyone feel the way he had.
"I'm going to let it slide because you seem nice and you're specialising in really neat stuff. I'm not familiar with nuclear physics myself, but my dad is a rocket scientist. And mom's a brain surgeon, since you brought up biology." She says with a teasing smile, happy they had something even kind of in common.
"Me? You're already working on a Ph.D and you have a specialty. I save the world and do some flips. My stuff looks cooler," Here, she cracks a huge grin to show she's kidding. "and is better for the abs, but I mean, give yourself some credit - you gotta be doing great if you're doing it this young." Kim hadn't meant to turn this into a show of one-upping, she was just genuinely impressed by what he'd accomplished as well.

OH MY GODS BETA RAY BILL. If I didn’t geek out with the mun over skype I could have sworn that this was Bill. Now I know that Bill-mun is going to get all smug and big-headed and I know that I’m going to be the one to blame for it, but gods dammit. I just love this Bill, OK? OK. JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY LOKI. Do I need to say more? Really? OK. Let me tell you a thing. You need kid Loki in your life, because really kid Loki is the best Loki. (Sorry other Lokis, but it’s true. I love me some itty bitty Loki, though there are more kid Lokis popping up and all I can say is GIVE ALL THE KID LOKI TO MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE) JiM first followed me on my myth!Freyja account and I immediately followed them over here and then freaked out in their inbox. THIS LOKI. And this mun. OMG how much I love (and hate) them both. I swear that if I go one night without talking to Divine-mun I might die. Divine is the sweetest mun ever. And the fun we have. “Luxury Seat”
When Mara dropped into her lap, Kim smiled, winding her arms around the older womans waist. “Hey,” She greeted, nosing Mara’s arm softly. It was unusual for Mara to initiate cuddling like this, but Kim definitely wasn’t going to object. “What’s up?”
"Jealousy or curiosity, I wonder?", Mara wondered aloud. It could be very hard to tell with science types. It had been all she could do to keep the big brains at work from dissecting her blasters just to figure out how they work. At least the fact that the plans had somehow made it to the work computers had put a damper on that, thankfully. Now, how they’d gotten translated to Galactic High Basic from Aurebesh, well, Mara certainly had no idea.
Mara laughed, “Yeah, that’s a good thing. I can get almost any day I want now. Not nearly as much incentive to steal something from the inventor when there’s hundreds in production at a factory, as opposed to only a handful of prototypes locked away in a lab, and most of the other projects are still in early enough dev phases that…”, Mara stopped herself, “Yes, it’s a good thing. Next time I start talking shop, do me a favor and stop me.”.
"Hush, you.", Mara playfully scolded, "Buir* already gave me that lecture.”.
Mara got up and headed down to the kitchen, then searched for the packs. As soon as she’d found them, Mara read the instructions. “The microwave… We meet again…”, she muttered. Every time she used it, it seemed to take a different amount of time to cook the same thing, and, worse still, the machine seemed to love burning things that were in even half a second too long. Mara stuck the bag into the device, then started it, waiting around for the telltale sounds that indicated the popcorn was done. As soon as it had finished, Mara grabbed a bowl from the cabinet, poured the popcorn in, then headed back to Kim’s room, grabbing some paper towels along the way.
"You're still worth more to them than any old lab rat." Kim reasoned. There was no point in letting your inventor go in favour of people who could only replicate what they made. But then, there was a reason that Kim didn't work in labs, and this was probably it. Laughing when Mara stopped herself, Kim pressed a quick kiss to her cheek. "I promise, I will stop you when you start talking about things that I don't understand."
At the playful scold, Kim poked out her tongue. "Maybe you should make me," She challenged, quickly pulling her tongue back in and darting away from Mara. She wondered, idly, if Mara had ever done anything like this back where she was originally from, if they had any teasing games that they would play. Just another thing she didn't know, she guessed.
From where she sat on the bed, Kim could hear the microwave finish, and so just waited until Mara made her way back up. Relaxing into the pillows, she arranged the rest so that Mara would have a place to sit, and the popcorn bowl could maybe sit between them. Or maybe not, if they decided to cuddle.

His hand runs through his hair quickly, checking that it’s all in it’s correct place on his head and he gives her a nod. She seems to be into the same kind of stuff as he is. Body expression wise.
"Thanks, I normally can get around fine. There’s just a lot of people. Not that good with new people. They normally have something to say about…"
He trails off, gesturing to all of him. He had friends, back home. They were great about the crazy body expression thing he was on, even his family was okay with it. His mom was a little iffy about him coming home with new tattoos all the time, but all together they took it fine.
Trailing behind her, he hoists his bag onto his shoulder further and is glad to reach the shade when they do, the sun had been giving him a headache, and he was pretty hot. Maybe it was all the black.
Kim nods. Her own hair was still caught under the headphones around her neck, but the way it was all swept over showcased the undercut her mother so hated. There weren't many people around here with the same sort of style, but enough of them left her alone that she didn't have to make it a thing.
"Don't sweat it. Helping is what I do. You got a thing with crowds? We'll go the back ways then, no sense in running into more people than we need to. And if you want my opinion-" Which, he probably didn't, but Kim was going to give it anyway. "I dig it. You look hot. Probably wouldn't take you home to mom, but she has enough trouble dealing with what I got going on."
She shrugs. She often speaks frankly, though was never rude about it. Most people still found it abrupt, but Kim couldn't help that that was just the way she was. Turning her head, she glanced at him as he hoisted his bag, noticing that his face looked a little bit pained.
"Hey, you okay there? You aren't gonna like, keel over or anything on me, are you? Because I'll do CPR, but I want your name before my lips go anywhere near yours."

He couldn’t help but chuckle at her comment. Kim was very amusing company for just being a 16 year old girl. He crossed his arms, sighing, and widened his eyes immediately once he felt her kiss him on the cheek. Okay… Just a kiss on the cheek. Affectionate. He had to calm down, damnit. Still, Kim was sweet girl, doing whatever she could for him. Him. If she only knew he had done… No, he couldn’t let her find out about that. But he’s also feel like he was lying to her in a way.
He bit his lip, thinking about that, but then caught off once she began talking about her good deeds for the world. It made him smile. He didn’t remember a whole lot about his past, but the memory of Steven Grant Rogers resurfaced not long after his last encounter with the man.

He didn’t know what that meant at the time though and just how much meaning it had. But he felt it when he heard it… He stopped himself from possibly giving a fatal blow to the famous Captain America, somehow knowing that what he was doing was wrong… But the guy was never Captain America to him. He was always Steve Rogers, the skinny little kid from Brooklyn who always stood up for himself and others. He always hated bullies and still did. Does.
And hearing how Kim talked about what she did for the world and everything…

He blurted out, not really thinking much about what he really said.
❝Steve… I mean. Or well, you might know him as Captain America.❞ He shrugged.
When his eyes widened, Kim let out a giggle, finger wiggling at his cheeks. "Did I embarrass you, Mr Barnes? If you want a proper kiss, you're gonna hafta wait a lot longer." She's only teasing of course. By the time she was old enough to kiss him, he'd have forgotten all about her anyway. So it wasn't a huge deal. Her brows furrowed, though, as he seemed to drift off into his own thoughts, seemingly less cheery than their conversation as they were.
Kim had to wonder if he was remembering. Thinking about the war or the way things were before. She'd looked him up. Google was great for everything, these days, so she knew about how he'd grown up in Brooklyn and how he'd helped fight in the war and been a bigger hero than she ever could be. Of course, the information ran out when he supposedly died, but Kim wasn't going to push that issue.
His sudden declaration, though, startled her out of her own thoughts. She reminded him of Captain America? But Captain America was a world wide hero, not just nationally. He was brave and strong and true and she -- she was just Kim. Saving her own little bit of the world as best she could.
"You're sweet to say so. But there's really no way I compare to him though."
Her words were sincere, no hint of her being falsely humble or anything of that nature. Steve Rogers was essentially her hero, everything she strives to be. So his comparison puts a huge smile on her face and maybe even a light blush (though she'd totally deny it if asked later).

"And yet, here you are."
"Naw, not really," he piped up cheerfully, the incident already in the past for him now that she seemed properly apologetic. He gladly snatched up the new chatter matter.
"Plenty of otha’ things. Y’know what would be a bloomin’ tragedy? Peanut allergies. Knew me a bloke once that would break out into hives at the mere presence of the masterpiece that is a peanut butter an’ jelly sandwich." He clapped a hand over his heart and looked solemn. "Alas, poor Yorick!"
A few seconds later he sprung at the nearest stack of wood and burst into cackling laughter at the blast of flames he ignited it with.
"I know, right?" Kim laughed. "Peanut allergies would suck!" There was a kid at Kim's school, actually, that had peanut allergies, and the entire cafeteria menu had needed to be changed to accommodate him. Why he couldn't have just brought his own lunch, Kim had no idea.
When he lit up the wood, Kim jumped back with a yelp. She just hadn't been expecting it, that was all. But she could appreciate the beauty in the fire, the way it snapped and ate up the wood underneath, every so often sneaking a look at her friend to see how he was enjoying himself.

[possessive meme]: *Wade throws a knife between the thumb and forefinger of the guy hitting on Kim, impacting the wooden bar counter and just barely missing the guy's hand.*
Kim arches an eyebrow, looking over at the source of the knife throwing. Wade. Of course.
Abandoning the guy freaking out beside her (though rescuing the knife), she made her way over to where he stood.
"Well shucks. I didn’t know you cared." The line was given deadpan, just a hint of a smirk on her face as she handed the knife over.
"You BETTER be sorry!"
Wade replied with a light chuckle as he crosses his arms, leaning back into his seat once again.
"So, Girl’s night out, I’m guessing?"
"It was." Kim nodded. "But Monique found some guy to take her home already, so it's just me."
Kim didn't have a lot of female friends -not that she was close to like Monique - but she didn't mind spending time alone.
"Besides, I had a serial killer buying me drinks - what more could a girl want?"
”I’m not playin’ Devil’s advocate, chiquita! I’m just bein’ a Good Samaritan and lettin’ you know already, before you go too far in life with a ‘do like that. It’ll do ya no good.”
"I can't believe I've got split ends and none of the girls on the team pointed it out! Or Shego. She loves to point out my flaws. Nemesis, you know? This is mortifying. Not that I have anything against you in particular, sir, but having a complete stranger point out my hair flaws?"
