Strange II CAT
Wearing a Kermit the Frog mask apparently was not the best way to make friends at a bar.
While planning to see each other again, Amelia had texted Theo that he’d be able to notice her due to the dress that she was wearing, and frankly Theo had felt a bit left out. Women always got to show up in interesting apparel, so Theo decided that he too wanted to show up in style.
Apparently, a Kermit mask was too much for a bar. Within immediate eye sight, Theo could see a dress that probably could have counted more as shirt than a dress, a shirt that looked like a mirror, and a pair of pants with an illicit phrase on it. Yet it was not them that drew attention to them. Instead, it was the Kermit mask that he kept on his head while waiting for Amelia that everyone seemed distracted by.
To be fair, Theo had a rather low bar for something bringing him too much attention, but he was certain some of those looks were glares. He glanced at his watch hoping it was closer to the time that Amelia was going to get there, but it had only been two minutes since he last checked. “Hi-ho I’m…”
It was then that a bartender walked to to Theo and pointed to him, “Take it off.”
“Wh… what?”
“You’ve been here fifteen minutes. The joke is over. Take it off.”
Theo’s eyes widened though the bartender couldn’t see that through the mask, “My friend will be here in fifteen minutes. Please… it’s…”
“You’re running off people. Take the mask off.”
Theo turned to the next people who walked up and asked hoping they’d laugh, “Is Kermit really that bad?”
She knew it was coming sooner or later, yet the weeks passed by and Matthew never said anything about what had happened at the bar the night they met Jackson Wright. Mila was cautious the following weeks, trying not to get in the Politian’s way while at home; most days she left early for work and got back late or never did as she began to take extra shifts to stay as little time possible in their house. However, sooner or later, she had to run out of luck as a couple of weeks prior the inevitable happened; Matthew had a dinner with colleagues and important people that were key for his reelection and Mila couldn’t get out of it. So, the surgeon was forced to put on a dress and show off her best smile among a group of people who saw nothing but a happy marriage as Camila and Matthew arrived hand in hand. One drink, two drinks, three drinks… how many did he take? He wasn’t acting drunk but the woman knew just how much it took for Matthew’s ugliest side to come out.
When they arrived home, the cardiothoracic surgeon quickly walked inside not looking back at Matthew as she rushed to her bedroom, it had been months since they both decided it was best to sleep separated as neither could stand one another but then Matthew spoke and her sense heightened. He began to question her every move, why was working all the time? The fact that she was never home or had barely seen together in the past few weeks he decided people would began to question their relationship and his reputation? A failed marriage so early on would bring out a lot of speculation and the last thing he wanted was rumors damaging him.
The talkback didn’t help as eventually Mila found herself pinned against the wall before feeling every ounce of air leave her lungs after Matthew punched her in the stomach. For weeks, Mila struggled to move around but the woman had to keep acting like she was fine and made an excuse whenever it was impossible to hide that she was in some pain, “I fell.” She would say before giving some hilarious story of how it happened, hell Matt had even created a version where he found her and helped her himself.
That night, the brunette walked inside the Honey rooftop bar as Andrew Kwon had insisted on them getting together to talk; she couldn’t deny him as she had been avoiding him for weeks and she didn’t need to give him another reason to dislike or suspect the issues she had with her husband. Once inside the bar, the surgeon looked around but couldn’t find Andrew so she headed towards the bar as she texted him, “I’m here, where are you?” She hit send before lifting her eyes only in time to see the bartender telling Theo to take his mask off; the woman arched her eyebrow and tilting her head as she considered the bartender getting a little too rude over a silly mask.
“You’re running off people. Take the mask off.”
“Too bad you can’t take your face off, Mike.” She said as she sat down, “I’m sure Leo doesn’t like you talking to costumers like that for no reason.” She said and smiled,
“But I-“ He began and Mila shook her head.
“Save it. Get me a whiskey please and get Theo a drink. Also, a shot of fireball.” She said staring at the man and watching him node before walking away to get their drinks.
“Is Kermit really that bad?” Theo asked and Mila chuckled.
“It’s pretty good. His attitude is what’s wrong.” She said shaking her head before she carefully sat down. “Why the mask? If you don’t mind me asking.”
