Me: the 1995 music video for Scream is an incredibly relevant and meaningful piece of media in that it plays on the scrutiny both Michael and Janet Jackson faced during their careers, and how they were targeted because of their race. Janet doing weird stuff like making obscene faces or grabbing her tits or pretending to use the toilet standing up is meant to play into misogynistic stereotypes, specifically ones targeted at Black women; that they are savage, too masculine, etc, as well sexual stereotypes placed on them by the industry and media, while the lyrics of the song denounce the media's treatment of Michael, especially around the time of the 1993 trials, where FBI agents assaulted him in several ways; chased him and locked him in bathroom stalls, dislocated his shoulder, etc. Both the song and music video is commentary on the pressure put on artists, specifically black artists, by the media and how disgusting the industry is as a whole.

I need newer MJ fans to really understand how the media has systematically targeted him for decades & it's the same with socials.
