Italian ballads blasted through the speakers of the auditorium as Jackie sat on the center of the stage, sobbing uncontrollably into the Juliet dress she had on. It had been a tough couple days, between being homeless and lonely, she needed an outlet and dressing up as her favorite character and sobbing on the floor of her current home seemed like the right call. Her eyes widened and she froze in place for a moment before flinging herself forward to grab her keychain and the remote for the speakers. She turned off the sound and stood up with the keychain in her hand. “Stay back, serial murderer, I’ve got a rape whistle and I’m not afraid to use it.”

Candy stared down at the stage in awe at the sight before her. “I’m not a killer, you don’t have to worry about that.” she chuckled softly, walking down to the stage slowly. “Are you okay?” she asked as she reached the stage. “You’re not hurt are you?”

Artemis sipped at her own coffee and just shook her head, setting the paper down on the table. She’d read through the beginning of the article carefully and then skimmed for any other details she may want to know, but didn’t want to bother much other than that. “Yeah that’s probably all it was. But still, they shouldn’t just lead people on like that.” She said frustratedly, taking her cup in both hands to warm them up a bit. “Oh, yeah, sure. I was getting kind of hungry anyway.”

“Well that’s what the media does right? Sensationalism. Propaganda. If they can make us believe things are one one way, then they can have this big ‘ol smokescreen of things going on behind that.” she shruged, sipping from her own coffee.”Wait would you really? Okay um-where do you wanna go?”

The redhead held on to the end of her skirt looking up at the other girl and bitting down on her bottom lip lightly. “Thank you so much.“ She mused. “You should have tried out! We could have been team mates. Yeah I am I’m so excited.“

Candy grinned back. “Its no problem. To your credit though I think you could pull off anything. I just kind of have a thing for girls in cheerleading uniforms.” she winked. “I never would have made it, i’m too pudgy, they would’ve laughed me out the door. When do practices start?”

“How does it look?“ Maybell asked twirling around showing off her new uniform that she had just got that day. She tried out last year and didn’t make the team which hurt like crazy but it only made her try twice as hard this year. “Pretty sweet huh?”

“You look---I mean---it looks great!” Candy said giving the girl a large smile. “I’m so happy for you! I was going to try out but I like bitched out at the last second and stayed home eating Chipotle instead. Are you like uh-one of those people that gets thrown up in the air?”

Jimmy was slightly horrified by what he was reading, as he had tried to earn another qualification by learning a second language. That was quickly proving to be impossible, so he looked up towards the door and called out to the first person who passed by, “Hey you! Yes you! Come sit in here, we need to talk!”

Candy’s brows furrowed and she peered into the office. “Yes?” she asked nervously, looking over the much weird, much older person. “Did I do something? Listen if you’re the janitor I swear I perfectly intended on cleaning up that coffee I spiled----I just forgot.”

“Overzealous Thieves try to Blow Up ATM, Demolish the Whole Bank Instead. What the hell is wrong with people these days? Would blowing up the ATM even let you get access to the money?” Artemis questioned and looked up from the paper, speaking to no one in particular. It was ridiculous what headlines the local papers were coming up with nowadays. “It doesn’t even say if anyone got hurt, or anything… why wouldn’t they disclose that information?”

Candy sat across from the other sipping her coffe, a copy of the paper gripped between her own fingers.”It doesn’t really make sense does it?” she said shaking her head. “Honestly its probably just an exaggeration, they probably like lit it on fire or something and they blew it all out of proportion.” Candy folded the paper, letting it drop onto the table. “I um-do you wanna go grab something to eat maybe?” she asked the other feebly. “You seem nice and I dont’ have many friends here yet, I just transferred in to be with my brother.”
