1,000 LOST MINUTES LATER . . .
Isn’t it crazy how one can look up and time, experiences, moments, dreams, sleep, people just whiz along. December to now. I reconciled, then ruptured a relationship. Went from one to two different jobs; returning to one job and beginning a new one. Have met over 30 new folks. I have come to 3 definitive conclusions. One thing that has stayed the same is my exhaustion. I am always sooo tired. I need the sun to just bless me with a decent tan to hide the fatigue that rests just due-south of my eyeballs please. 2018 everyone!

FUN FACT: I was named after this woman and I feel we are kindred's not only because of this, but also because we both hold food in high esteem.

PROCESS
I am currently in the process of trying to secure a teaching job in Colombia through an organization called ESLstarter. This feels both exciting and slightly nerve racking for all the obvious reasons: living and learning abroad, new life, new you (but also) money, home stability, possibility of tropical illness. There are multitude of things that could come up, but there are ALWAYS a multitude of ish that could occur at any given moment. Overall, the realization that I am arriving closer to a dream trumps (ew!) all those fears. What dream you might ask??
Since I was 13 years old, I had always wanted to visit/live in the country of my abuelita’s birth. She is from Bogota, Colombia and if I ever had the slightest chance of visiting one of my heritage homes, I told myself to not pass it up. Well, in 2013 I had the chance and I passed it up. I had the money and more than likely the time, but that responsible part of me said “No, we might need this money for an emergency. Sit your happy ass down.”. So, I proceeded to sit my happy ass down and not go. Low and behold, I did need that money for an emergency (God is real ya’ll). And He is SO real that in 2016, I saw an opening to go to Colombia and I took it with open arms (quo Journey music). The entire experience left me in awe of that place and proud to call it my second home. I promised myself that I would be back, and nothing would stop me from doing so.
It will be interesting to see this transition unfold. I’ve spoken with some older friends and family who question my decision to leave this slowly sinking ship called the United States for a country with a recent unsteady past, but HELLO look around you fools!! Our past and present are all hella suspect . . . if you’re a person of color, a woman, LGBQT, come from a foreign country, practice a “non-traditional” religion. The list goes on. So really, both places can be viewed as similar, it’s just a matter of what one becomes familiar with. And I know we all know this, but sometimes it takes some “splaining” to folks on the larger view of the world. I for one see the appeal and possible pitfalls in both. I just want to experience them in a new place now.
Yes sir!

Ya heard!?
This is beyond disgusting.
Jazzy Rowe could have died, because of her roommates racism. The school tried to intimidate her into silence, but she speaking out and the multi cultural organizations at the school are meeting tomorrow (Nov. 1st) to support her.
The Woman who openly admitted to poisoning her roommate is Brianna “Breezy” Borchu. She was the roommate of Jazzy Rowe at The University of Hartford.
According to this website article, Brianna Borchu has recently been arrested.

JAZZY COULD HAVE DIED.
Brianna Brochu was literally poisoning this young woman because of her race. One could even argue that this was an attempted murder.. because it definitely was a HATE CRIME.
She only received 2 charges. 1) 2nd degree Breach of Peace 2) 3rd degree Criminal Mischief
Disgusting display. Your parents should be ashamed you came out of their bodies

WORK WORK WORK WORK WORK WORK
Yes, read this to the tune of Rihanna. That’s exactly what I wanted you to do. I cannot wait to find the gig that will just keep me settled for at least 5 years of my life. I currently work in hospitality and it’s alright, but not a passion of mine. I would much rather work with anything that deals with cultures, art, fashion or travel. I know that’s very broad, but hey, it can be done. I don’t think I am the self starter type to create my own career, but I would learn to know how to do that. I feel like everyone in Denver is Maverick-y to some degree. Like, where dat money be comin’ from doe? How does one just go to a bank and be like “alright, here is my idea and this is why you should give me money to sponsor it”?
This is why I have mad respect for immigrants who come to ‘Merica and open little shops of their own. I mean, I was raised in this system (speaking the language and understanding the basic laws of the land). Imagine having to learn all of that ON TOP of having to learn the language, culture, communities, etc. Mad. RESPECT. Plenty of young folks start their own businesses now with helpful sites like Etsy and Pinterest. I’m just not arts and crafty enough to join those ranks. I guess it boils down to ones talents. I like to talk a lot; does that count for anything? I’m pretty good at making people laugh and empathizing, buuuut I ain’t tryna be Oprah.
Maybe I’ll just be a traveling work gypsy who goes from city to city, country to country working odd jobs never accumulating a 401K or benefits. I’d be down for that. I could always sell a kidney in Croatia to get by.
On my days off . . .
Ok Denver, you win . . . for today
