TADC's main theme is acceptance.

While TADC's main message is "there's meaning to be found in a stagnant life", it's secondary theme is acceptance of the circumstances around you, as well as accepting yourself.

!EPISODE 9 SPOILERS BELOW!

Pomni's arc revolves around her acceptance of the circumstances she's found herself in. Over the course of the story, she becomes less self-centered and starts to build relationships with the other members, accepting both the circumstances and the others as part of her life.

Gangle and Zooble's arc revolves around their acceptance of themselves. Gangle learning to accept herself beyond just her happy mask, to be content with herself, and Zooble learning to accept their body and their changing parts.

Kinger's arc revolves around his acceptance of the harm he's unintentionally caused. He's able to forgive himself for whatever happened between Queenie and himself, and even when he accidentally kills Caine- he doesn't sulk about it. He gets straight to work, trying to help fix the circus and aid in repairing some of the damage he's caused.

Ragatha's arc revolves around her truly accepting the relationships she has with the others, and her own flaws. In episode six, she's so worried she's pushed Pomni away, when in reality, Pomni never saw it that way. Kinger helps Ragatha to accept that she doesn't always have to be the one reaching out, that her imperfect moments don't define her.

Even Gummigoo's arc in episode two reflects acceptance. With Pomni's help, he's able to accept that he's an NPC, even after his initial identity crisis.

Jax (who I'll be referring to with she/her here) is what happens when you refuse to accept yourself. She hurt herself, she hurt others, even driving Ribbit to abstraction. Because of her refusal to accept herself, she didn't accept relationships. She didn't accept forgiveness for herself. She doesn't accept the circumstances. It ultimately leads to her abstracting.

Caine's arc is about acceptance of himself, of relationships, of the circumstances, of his own imperfections, as well as accepting responsibility for the harm he's caused. He accepts all of it, lets go of the part of himself that was hindering his ability to accept the others as equal, and he works his ass off to rebuild their trust in him and get to truly understand them.

Jax and Caine are complete contradictions of one another. That's why both of their arcs were explored so heavily in the finale.

a few years ago i was at the state fair in my state and i saw a lemonade stand, and there was a container of like, half-sliced lemons? idk my memory's hazy. im not a big fan of lemonade but i am a big fan of just eating lemons straight up. so i go up to the lady and im like "can i just have half a lemon instead of lemonade?" and she was like. slightly confused but said sure, and when i went to pay her she was just like "no no, its ok just have it". and admittedly i've become a little fascinated with the concept of caine in his first few years after escaping the box and creating the circus, caine was probably so much worse at first if almost every dev member abstracting is anything to go by
