“No, you didn’t.” She smiles as she speaks, glad to hear the familiar voice of the man she met at the spring fling. “A shame too, I’m excellent drinking company.” Or at least, Peggy likes to think so - and if it’s not true, she doesn’t want to hear it. “A drink would be great.” She thought so the first time, and she thinks so still. “And the name is Peggy,” the blonde replies. “Should probably ask for your name - ain’t right to take drinks from strangers, ya know.”
“An excellent drinking partner aye? Well, then we’ll just have to put it to the test.” The male spoke a light smile tugged at the edge of his features as he watched the woman curiously, but already he had no doubt that she would be. “Peggy.” Hook repeated a light smile tugging at the edge of his features as he let her name rest of his tongue for a moment. “Most call me Hook, but you can call me James. Pleasures all mine. So Miss Peggy, what’s your poison of choice?”
Sure he could be a dick, there was no denying that. James was fully aware that when it came to people, he definitely was one of the more rotten around. Granted he’d been told it enough times in his life it was hard not to believe it. But even if in parts of his life he most definitely wasn’t chivalrous, he at least prided himself on having some manners. Maybe if it had been something more substantial he would have just slipped it into his pocket none the wiser. Especially as it was pretty dead around the streets. With a disgruntled sigh - people really should look after their own shit -, he picked up the odd flowers that had fallen from her bag having to call “Oi- Miss-” just to get her attention before he had a chance to catch up to her. “You really ought to close that thing up. Be glad it’s only flowers that fell outta there and not your keys.” @liketragedysathand
“You know love-” James spoke, pausing for a moment to finally look over the woman who’d been staring at him for definitely a prolonged period of time. Sure it wasn’t an out of the ordinary thing to happen - whether it be good or bad -, but the male wasn’t passive to say the very least so was never one to ignore it. Over the years he’d gotten particular good at reading the room and the people around him. But he was a sucker for a pretty woman and she definitely was that. So when he met eyes with the red head, one of his charming smirks played easily on his lips as he continued: “As privileged as I am for such a lovely woman - such as yourself - to be paying me attention to me, a photograph will last longer love. Really I won’t blame you, I can wait. Then maybe you can give me a name to go with that pretty face?” @redheadsocialite
“You know I never got that drink.” James spoke as he caught sight of the familiar blonde. Granted he normally wouldn’t remember the woman that he flirted with, just because the list was so endless. But with this blonde, considering he’d only flirted with her at the spring fling and not with ten other women; it was easier to remember a face. Besides, she seemed more interesting than alot of the woman around here. “So, how about a drink and a name to go with that pretty face?” @ofstcrlets

Bryoni raised her eyebrows and turned as she heard a voice to her side. The moment she saw who it was, she couldn’t help but snort slightly. “Hello James,” Bry said with a sigh before leaning against the bar. “Thank you,” She said with a firm nod. “Not too bad, yeah. It’s cute here,” Then she shrugs and raises her eyebrows at him. “What about you? Wouldn’t have pinned you as the sort to come to this.”
“Oh.. come on now love. Don’t sound so excited to see me.” The male teased lightly a slight edge to his smile before he took a small sip from the cup in his hand. “True, it is a little too-” Cute, twee, simple, wholesome, the list could go on as he glanced up at the bunting with a slight knitting brow before scoffing with a small shake of his head. “Yeh.. it’s something.” James muttered. “What can I say, couldn’t say no to a party. Besides it gives me a chance to socialize. Meet new people, catch up with familiar faces. Like you.” The male spoke with a slight shrug of his shoulders as he looked over the blonde’s features, the edge of his lips quirking up in a smile.

Peggy couldn’t tell you how she kept winding up at these things. Sure she loves a good party, but this seems a little less her speed - even less so than that Romance ball thing. But it doesn’t really matter. She’s here either way, having a decent enough time. It’s made better when her eyes catch sight of an attractive stranger. That’s one of the best things about this town; there’s an abundance of hot people. “I’m great,” she replies, putting on that signature bright smile of hers. “I do look nice, don’t I.” It’s a confident - bordering on cocky - statement, but why pretend she doesn’t know? “Don’t look too bad yourself.” She figures he already knows that. “It’s better now. You?”
Granted there was a massive perk to living in a new city, a new place meant a whole new pool of women. Sure the reputation he’s build up back in London had been nice, but being at a party and not getting slapped when you walk in was definitely better. James couldn’t help the smile on his face edge into a smirk at the blondes words. She was confident he’d give her that, besides why should she not be when she looked as incredible as she did? James almost made a point of looking her over again then before his eyes settled back to her features. “There is no doubt about that love.” The male spoke before taking the last sip of the drink in his hand. “Ah- the wonders what a shave will do.” The male spoke with a single shrug of his shoulder, his ringed fingers moving up to push the hair back off his face. Though of course he knew he looked good, though a compliment never went a miss. “Huh..You stole my line.” James spoke with a light amused laugh, his smile widening a little. “Definitely better now.” The male agreed. “Can I get you a drink?”
James was surprised that he’d even ended up here if he was honest. Granted it was an excuse for a party, but ‘spring fling’, seemed a little -well alot- more twee than the scene you’d typically find him in. Still he was lingering just on the edge of the party having just come back from smoking when he caught sight of someone. Not fully seeing their face before he spoke. “Alright love?” The male spoke, quirking an eye brow lightly in the other’s direction as a charming smile slipping easily onto his features. “Well don’t you look nice. You having fun?”
We welcome James Hook to the city. He’s 25 years old and is a tattoo artist. James is often mistaken for Luke Pasqualino, Avan Jogia or Zayn Malik. He’s taken.
→ Background Information
James grew up in a broken home. His parents split while he was still young. Most of his youth was spent being ferried from one home to the other. His parents would often use James to get back at each other, which impacted James quite a large amount. He was regularly yelled at, regularly screamed at. It was incredibly sad. All the frustrations regarding his upbringing were taken out at school. His academic subjects suffered greatly, and he was aggressive in sports. The only area that was good for James - Art. Despite his reputation of being a a bad kid, James was also his art teacher’s favorite. This teacher nurtured his talent and encouraged him to create whatever he needed to. Sometimes his pieces would end up quite morbid, but that was okay. Many people told him that he didn’t have a future because most of his subject grades were down. His art teacher told him otherwise though.
→ Living Situation
There isn’t even an alternative universe where James would have lived with another person. He wouldn’t even begin to know how to process having to be around another human being that often. There was never a part of him that thought he’d be home often so James only got himself a very small apartment. It’s very neat and tidy, with everything organized exactly how he wants it. One of the walls is covered in sketches that he’s yet to tattoo, or doesn’t think he’ll ever tattoo. It makes the place really feel like it. His art has always be what’s helped calm in so having those up especially helps when he’s getting home from a hard day. Most of his lounge space is taken up by his drawing desk and drawing supply. There isn’t even a TV. James isn’t a massive television person. While he occasionally visit the movies, he’s never seen the appeal in sitting and watching three hours worth of episodes.
→ Relocation Explanation
No one would be surprised to hear that James has definitely got on the wrong side of people in his time. His reason for moving to Libertas is probably one of the more trivial. After numerous hook-ups, James started to find that women back home were really beginning to hate him. While he liked his reputation, it was beginning to make finding new people to sleep with incredibly difficult. He was regularly getting slapped in night clubs, accidentally hooking up with best friends. It was all beginning to get a bit much. There was also the fact that he slept with the wife of a rather important businessman, and now that guy is after him. So, James stole one of his parent’s credit cards to help get himself to Libertas. Once there, he cut it up, got a new phone number, and started completely fresh.
→ His Personality
While James can be incredibly charming, he really struggles on the empathy front. He’ll listen to people’s problems, but only if he knows that he’s going to get something out of it. He’s always been quite a self-absorbed person. It’s very rare he’ll actively ask other people how they are. But, he is also incredibly smart and tactical. James figures out how to play people against each other - Just how his parents used him to play against each other. In fact, this is where he learned it from. This talent with people comes in handy when pulling people on a night out. James is extremely persuasive too, so he really has fun when he comes across gullible people. He enjoys manipulating them into doing cruel things for him. It’s all for entertainment too usually. James just likes seeing people squirm.
→ His Qualities
Charismatic, suave, witty
Devious, manipulative, childish, vain
→ His Relationships
Bryoni Tinker (Friend with benefits): James and Bryoni met drunk in a bar once. It became obvious that she needed to unload some stuff, so James let her talk. He was fairly certain they’d end up hooking up, so he let her talk. And that’s the way that it’s remained. Bry calls James up. They meet up. She rants. They hook up.
Wendy Darling (Potential love interest): After hearing repeatedly about Wendy from Bryoni, James had to take a look at the girl for himself. So, he went to the daycare he knew she worked at and immediately found himself captivated by the woman’s beauty. She’s practically ethereal. James has been obsessed with her ever since.
Seamus Vane (Colleague): Most of James’ life is spent at the tattoo studio. One of the faces that he see’s on the regular is Seamus. While the young man is a massive fan of tattoos and art, he’s not quite talented enough to be an actual artist. This is something James like to tease Seamus about a lot.
→ Possible Connections
Peter Panning (Enemy): After basically setting his heart and mind on having Wendy Darling, it would make sense that James’ least favorite person in the world would be Peter Panning. He is the competition after all. The pair haven’t ever actually met yet though. If they ever did, it’d probably be quite tense.
Iracebeth Marmoreal (Friend): James loves his regular customers. They bring in money for him, so why wouldn’t he? Iracebeth has a specific style of tattoos she enjoys, and James just happens to be particularly good at them. There’s no way they’d sit there the entire time in silence. So it’s very likely that they may be friends at this point.
James is based on Captain Hook from Peter Pan.
