Euro, the drummer and band leader of the early 80′s band The Execute, has been running his own label for years. The late 00′s he released dark ambient music as ‘Darkcell’ and most recently performed alongside Tatsu in a one-night only revival of 80′s punk group ‘The Nurse’. The Execute started as a four piece with Euro, Baby, Baki and a guitarist whose name I’m not remembering. Baby left The Execute first and then Baki left in late 1984 to join Baby along with Tatsu and Matsumura to form Gastunk. Well, I just found out Euro started releasing his band’s past music on bandcamp and it’s all great moments of musical history which I’m glad he released instead of let languish on tapes in his apartment for noone to hear. Some gems are the very first release of The Execute remastered and plenty of live bootlegs where you hear Baki screaming his lungs out in 2 minute bursts. Despite the Execute being known for their early punk work and associations to Gastunk, I find their later work to be very intriguing dark wave which is represented here in the form of lives. The vinyls releases of The Execute’s later music is probably locked down by some now defunct label unfortunately. And Euro would go on to be apart of another band ‘Dance Federation’ which there is virtually no information existing but it sounds like the next step in the direction that The Execute was going in. I’m finding Dance Federation to be amazingly hypnotic and wish they had released a vinyl or CD. The demos will suffice.
Go buy some of these gems if you can!
