One of my core desires is to feel connected: to myself, within my relationships/community, and that the work I'm doing has a connection to the betterment of the world. That's why @brenebrown's definition of connection resonates so strongly with me: “I define connection as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.” YES. Give and receive without judgement. Being seen, heard, and valued. That's the type of world I want to live in. That's the type of world I try to create through my relationships. Last night we had a birthday party for tea+purpose. We had cupcakes and champagne. @nattytodd performed with her guitar and beautiful melodies. We celebrated connection, rooted in compassion and mindfulness. I'm grateful for the amazing women who have joined this exploration. In 2014 we had 15 teas covering aspects of deepening the relationship with yourself/fear/authenticity/vulnerability, 2 chapters (what's up SEA & @kellye!!) and a half day retreat. A percentage from every tea has gone to sponsor a girl's education in Uganda through @shesthefirst--and we've raised close to $300 so far. As I look to 2015, I see that it's all a journey in reflection and play. I'm looking forward to more teas, fun group activities, workshops, and whatever other idea comes our way. Mostly, I'm simply grateful for the opportunity to be myself and for authentic, present-moment connection. #tplusp #authenticity
