“— you’re that Ariel kid.” Mermaid is what she meant, but even thrust into a world of vampires, shifters and werewolves, merfolk was… still somehow a stranger concept all together (what was next? Fairies?). Bree lingered close to the tree line, watching him with eyes alight with curiosity. His allure didn’t work on her, in fact the same scent that drove humans toward him seemed to repel Bree. He smelled like fish at the harbor market, there wasn’t any other way to put it.

“I’m quite older than Ariel,” Ashley countered, almost offended. Tho in all due honesty, he hadn’t picked his name without thinking in the sonority of that one. “But yes, I am that Ariel Kid. Who are you? You’re not familiar.” He asked, as he munched on his fish. It was hard not to tell when a human or a vampire was around. But that one in particular was new enough. He had met the rest of the Cullens, including the one who always seemed to avoid breathing. “The name is Ashley by the way. Not Ariel.”

He came out of the water on a hidden place of the shore, dragging his tail out of the water, groaning in pain, biting his forearm in the process as his body shifted and, once he had his legs back, and recovering from the pain, he stood up. Trembling, he walked out of the rock in search for his clothes but he couldn’t find the shorts where he had left them.

As a merman, Ashley’s natural scent is predatory enough. Part of his nature is to lure men and women and drown them on the sea, and for that, pheromones are very important. However, to more subtle noses, he takes a salty water scent mixed with the sweet touch of some particular water flowers. As he is not food for a vampire tho, his scent is quite strong to their noses, not unpleasant, but just like shifters smell like wet dog, he technically smells like fresh fish. Unless he adds colognes and others.

He had stopped by the river. Well aware that he was too close to Cullen territory. Legs stood into the water as he sat on the border, waiting, expecting, and when he saw the glimpse of a good sizable fish, grabbed it out of the water. Feeding for a merman was technically easier, there wer many fishes in the sea, but it was not suitable for him to feed on other animals. So Ashley had to find specific spots outside of work.

Cloudy sky kept on threatening with raining, but Ashley didn’t care much about it. He held a carefully crafted guitar against his lap, looking at the pegbox and twisting the pegs to tune it. He had just changed one of the chords after breaking the previous during the small show he had at a bar in Port Angeles, and coming back to Forks to relax was one of his favorite things to do. But the rain threat left the streets practically empty and that gave no room for him to sing to anyone. To get anyone’s attention. So fixing his guitar seemed like the best option to kill time till it rained or people decided to get out with their umbrellas.
