She was born in the United Kingdom and moved to Sydney, Australia at a very young age. She played Nini Legs in the air in the film Moulin Rouge, and has been in musicals such as Chicago, Mack and Mabel, West Side Story, Sweeney Todd, End of the Rainbow, Man of La Mancha, Funny Girl, A Christmas Story and Gypsy. She also starred in Bombshells, a play written for her by Joanna Murray-Smith. Caroline will reprise her role as Miss Shields in A Christmas Story, the musical at the end of the year in the US, including in New York City!  "Lauria, Bolton, Dilly and Australian actress O'Connor, who were part of the original Broadway production, will repeat their work in the upcoming engagement that will run Dec. 11-29 at the Theater at Madison Square Garden, following engagements at Hartford's Bushnell Theatre Nov. 12-17 and the Wang Theatre in Boston, Nov. 20-Dec. 8."
