Thoughts on Sour Part II
Back with my thoughts on Olivia Rodrigo's Album Sour.
I have already stated, this album makes me feel old. Whether it's situations or just the references, but I am digging it!
good 4 u: YO. I love this. Again giving me "Pink Slip" vibes.
"I guess good for you."
enough for you: I was not drinking coffee at 17...This is also a truly a break up/getting over them/trying to get over them album.
"All I ever wanted was to be enough for you."
"I'd say you broke my heart, but you broke much more."
happier: ooh the 1,5,4 chords! Love the bass line in this too. The feeling of this is a slow dance, but not the way you'd typically think.
"I hope you're happy, but not like how you were with me."
"I hope you're happy, but don't be happier."
jealousy, jealousy: fuck, this song. Doesn't matter age, I still feel this shit.
"But jealousy, jealousy started following me."
"Their win is not my loss."
favorite crime: I love this true acoustic feel to the song. The way it builds in vocals and instrumental, I can feel the pain.
"The things I did just so I could call you mine. the things you did, well, I hope I was your favorite crime."
hope ur ok: Honestly, this makes me think of all the people I love but haven't talked to in a long time, whether because of life or more recently, Covid.
"I hope that you're happier today, cause I love you and I hope that you're ok."
Overall: I really enjoyed the album! I would need to either be in a very specific mood to listen to all these songs back to back again, because there are a LOT of feelings she unpacked in this album. But I encourage you to listen and enjoy. And if you're of age, take a bath with a glass of wine and think about all the people in your life you equate to each or every song in this album.
