“Fine,” she pouted as she slid into the car and pretty much immediately pressed her face to the window. “That’s fine with me! More things to see!” she chirped happily, not paying much attention to his exchange with the driver before she settled back into her seat and sent him a smile. “I don’t know what I’m going to do without room service honestly,” she joked as she grabbed his hand once more. “It’s so sad that we only have a week left.”

“It’ll be worth the wait, I promise,” he insisted. At least he hoped it would be, considering all the time and effort he’d put into planning it. Noah laughed and shook his head. “Yeah, we’ve gotten pretty spoiled, I have to admit. Going back to life as usual will be weird.” It was strange to think of it. Then again, the thought of college itself was odd. At least Jay and Lia would be there. That much would remain unchanged. “But I’m sure your cooking skills will come back princess, don’t worry,” he teased.

“I told you it’s a surprise! But don’t worry, you’ll love it,” he reassured, squeezing her hand gently. “We have to drive for a little while to get there. That’s okay, right?” Noah laughed as Devyn immediately got right down to the important details of their date. “Of course there will be food. I wouldn’t dream of taking you on a date without any,” he teased with a wink. As they stepped out of the hotel entrance, a car pulled up in front of them. Opening the door for his girlfriend, Noah slid in behind her. He leaned forward to give the driver quick instructions in Italian before turning to his girlfriend with a smile. “I gotta admit, it’s weird not getting to drive everywhere myself.”

Waiting for his girlfriend down in the lobby of the hotel gave Noah some time to think. With the end of the trip drawing near, the reality of his departure to college was getting harder to ignore. He and Devyn had put off talking about it long enough, and while Noah was dreading where the conversation might go, he decided there was no reason for them to not make the most out of the time they had left in Italy. It had taken a little bit of planning, but he had set up a great day for his girlfriend. Hopefully it would make the conversation they’d have today a little bit easier.

Slipping a hand into his pocket, Noah ran his thumb over the smooth surface of the small box he’d hidden there. Today seemed as good a day as any to give Dev her present- depending on the outcome of their conversation. But he pushed the thought out of his mind as quickly as it came. For right now, the only thing he had to worry about was making sure his girlfriend had a great time on their date. Looking up, he saw the familiar blonde coming out of the elevator. Noah smiled and moved forward to meet her. “Hey princess,” he greeted, embracing her when she was close enough and kissing her on her forehead.
