TAGGING: Biff & Casey McIntosh (@caseymcintosh) LOCATION: Tybee Island Memorial Hospital TIME FRAME: July 5; Early Afternoon GENERAL NOTES: The McIntosh siblings deal with the littlest apple’s illness.
The car had barely come to a halt when Biff threw its door wide open.
“Sorry, I—” he could barely voice before his feet hit the pavement. A frantic mess of words flew out of his mouth — apologies over his hastiness and something about ‘proper recompense’ being paid at a later date — while he reached for his duffel bag and slung it over his shoulder. He was already halfway through the emergency room’s double-doors when he yelled back an unsteady, “Thanks!”
The way from there on was practically second-nature. He had walked these steps enough times before, during the visits with his grandfather, but no amount of repetition could ever make for a sense internal peace. As soon as he reached the waiting area, there was a screech of tile against his soles, alongside a sudden, rushing sensation against his head. His vision had blurred to a point wherein even if he glanced side to side, he would rely on his sharp call to find the rest of his way.
“Casey?”
It had taken Casey longer to get to the hospital than she first thought.
It was near impossible to try and get herself and Lily ready when the small girl wouldn’t stop crying or let her mother put her down for even a moment. Take into account the fact Casey had to wait for a cab to arrive because she wouldn’t be able to drive because of the baby and it had taken her far too long in her opinion to get there.
This wasn’t what she expected to happen when a few days before she had noticed that Lily had a small, barely even something to worry about, fever. It would pass, just like any illness she had deal with before. But this time it hadn’t and now here she was, sitting in the emergency waiting room, trying to hold it together whilst they wait to be seen.
She hears Biff before she sees him, and she’s up out of her seat in an instant, stumbling a little under the weight of Lily who had stopped crying, for now, and made her way over to her brother.
“You’re here...”
