How does someone have so much talent?! I can barely draw a stick figure where the legs are actually connected to the body
Happy Birthday just Happy Birthday (9:52am)
-9:52am-
“John!” someone shouted from the lower areas of my home. Instead of doing what most pre-pubescent tweens insist on doing (Which is yelling back, “What?!”). I stood up from my desk. Walked out of my office and then down the stairs to my mother. And said “Yes, mother? Did you need me to do something?”. My mother stood in the middle of the dinning room with bed hair and a faded pink robe on. She was leaning against our tan painted walls in our house. “What’s the weather like today?” She asked me. “It is mildly warm, but still chilly in the shaded areas.” I replied. “Alright, Thanks Jack”. “My name is John”. “Whatever.”

Have you ever heard of the Schrödinger’s thought experiment? It is the idea of something neither bing alive or dead or bing both living and deceased. In my hand I hold an aluminum can of mountain dew. It is neither full nor empty. What is it? One may say “The can is half empty or half full”, but I would argue that the can is merely a metaphor for a living being and in which case a human cannot be both dead and alive. So what is it, Is it empty or full? Can this can of soda actually exist in this state of being. A straight line has one dimension, a parallelogram has two dimensions, and a parallelepiped has three dimensions. We as living breathing people live in the fourth dimension which includes Time. The previous dimension merely consist of space and movement, ours is time and space. God exists outside of these dimensions because he created them and cannot be limited like us. So if this can of liquid sugar is in the fourth dimension how can it be two things at once? Is that possible? Actually, it is, There is something called the triple point of water where at a specific temperature and pressure water becomes vapor, ice, and maintains the state of water. Three elements at once. This exists in the fourth dimension so by logical reasoning the can of mountain dew has to be able to exist. Can someone be simultaneously the most horrendous person and the best? Can I make myself both alive and dead? Can I cause my state of being to change into some other element where I truly no longer exist while still be alive in the fourth dimension? I wish I could truly understand how my life is planned. Is there someone out there writing my every thought to be an expression of his own or am I truly an independent creature with a free will? I Wish it was possible to know or be able to not be in this dimension, but I think I will have to settle for being dead than being both. I do not want to live in this time nor this space any longer. Do I really exist?

- 9:25 wam- I am called an old man. Those who have known of one as myself, call me old. They tell me that I am a old man in a young man's body. An old soul. I do not want this to be me. I do not want to be this old man. I want to kill that old man. I will. Halfway down the hall I changed mind. I was going to the kitchen, but instead I will head to my office. Opening the door to the office I stepped to the chair which still remained on the floor. Picking up the old chunk of wood. I sat it down and then sat in it. Pulling myself to the desk. I once again let my figures hover over the letters. I could see the small black letters peeling off their round and glossy home. Throwing themselves upon my white canvas. When I changed what I wanted to write the letters flew across the page to accommodate my thoughts. I began to type what you might call a poem. Old Man- I was beaming beating that old man as I saw him bleeding , The floor was squeaking and creaking as I lay cleaning , Scheming to make sure no one is seeing, screaming, or believing, Decreasing his breathes I could hear his periodic breathing , It was so hypnotic how methodically I planned his death , I’m not psychotic maybe a little alcoholic , It’s just that I am charismatic in deposing toxic people. 'If you sobered up you wouldn’t be dry heaving' he told me, shut up! you’re being beaten, you’re bleeding, and not breathing I replied. Reaching my left arm out of sight I pulled a can of soda off the shelf. Using the trick my brother taught me, I opened it with one hand. While bringing it closer to my lips and taking a sip I thought about clichés. We (The consumers of everything) criticize everything for what it's worth. From the color of a painting to how well shaded a movie set is. More than half of the stuff we talk about we have no idea about how it works, but there is one thing that we all know too well. That would be cliché. If you do not know what a cliché is than let me explain. It is something that is over used in books, comics, television, and movies. We all hate clichés. Here is an example, we're watching a move and then suddenly out of no where in a very original creation the director makes a scene where it is raining and the Love Birds kiss and fall in love and then the end (Boring). No one wants to pay to see that, but if you hide those kind of clichés well enough then we do not mind seeing them. However, (Spoiler profound statement coming) life is one big cliché, we do something until it is dead and then we dig up and do it some more. Indirectly creating a cliché in real life. I am sure in the future people will figure out what I have found and make humoring jokes about life being like fictional books or movies. now that I think of it, it is also entirely possible that people of the 21st century will become completely consumed by the media. So far that any popular opinion stated might become fact! Dear Jesus never let that day came, but I know that it will and people such as I will be weeded out as freaks. Then again they might bring us "freaks" back into style and we'll be hip and main stream. Who am I kidding, that'll never happen.
Happy Birthday just Happy Birthday (9:13am)
-9:13 am- Walking to my bedroom door I'm thinking about how other people do not have doors. I know people that went to my high school that didn't use bedroom doors. Their parents thought that doors were a privilege that their children do not deserve. My parents and I both agreed that having a door is more like a right than a given. My door is in my opinion dull looking. Fake wood pressed to make a three dimensional box to place in a door way. Opening the door knob (Which is just as dull as the door) I enter the room. Changing my clothes I become consumed by my thoughts. My eldest brother is divorcing his wife of six months. Along with that my sister-in-law is taking my three year old niece away from me and my family. She claims my brother beat her and the child. She preceded by removing him from their home (She kicked him out). My sister-in-law and her family will not allow him to retrieve his belongings. All my brother wants to take is his clothes and his cars. Three months ago my sister-in-law quit both of her jobs to pursue... get this... door to door salesmanship of insurance. The class she must take to do this job costs hundreds of dollars. She then wanted a second car for the job she will have. So my brother bought a 1990 new Ford probe. That car he bought with his money and it's in his name. The other car is too. The other one is a 1989 Ford bronco. My brother was in prison for a while, while I was growing up. When he got out of jail he was fat. In the following years my brother lost over a hundred pounds that he gained in prison. In those same years after being convicted he had three girlfriends. The first one he began to date was a loon (I do not say that word often and I do not use it lightly). After that girl went a little more crazier than she already was, my brother found another girl. That girl he dated then is now his wife soon to be ex-wife. I did not like her and I still do not like her and I never will like her. Pulling up one of the slim pant legs of another pair of black jeans I stopped thinking about my brother. When I had looked at my wooden door I was reminded of him. He is a construction worker, but works mainly in woods. The dress shirt I'm wearing was made dirty. Loosing my dark blue tie, I pulled it away from my neck as a man does when he is done with the day and its' work. At the bottom of the tie it was bent. The side of the tie at the end of it was bending inwards. I wear my vest over it often, but there are those times I do not. In those time I notice the bending and it bothers me, but now the tie is gone it no longer has a point in my mind. Instead of getting rid of my vest I layed it upon my mattress for later. I do not have a mirror in my room (I wish I did actually have one near me). Moving my left and right hands to my collar I placed both thumbs and index fingers on the button. Popping it out of the cloth socket I moved down to the next one. After finishing five buttons in a row I had reached the buttons that have some issues. I use this dark mute red dress shirt so often that the buttons are beginning to fall off a long with the stitching that held the shirt together. I do not wear undershirts (If I am cold I might wear one, but I do not wear them otherwise). Slipping off the shirt I throw it into one of the few piles in my room. I looked down at my feet. There on the floor was a red plaid button shirt. I slid that on. Then I pulled my vest off the bed and wrapped it around me. tucking the shirt in I begin looking for a tie. I found one near my pillow. It's a pencil tie from the 50s. Same color as my last, but this one as a pattern. Quickly flipping my collar up, the skinny tie made its' way around the back of my neck. Wrapping the two ends of the tie into a pretzel and pulling them independently forming a knot . I was satisfied with how I ended up. Tightening the soft rope around my neck I pulled it up wards. Not straight up, but enough so that I could tuck it in my vest (Which is what I processed to do). Running my fingers through my hair I spoke to myself aloud, "I hope no one notices I changed." With that being said I made my way to my door, trying not to think of the wood which would give me the thought of my brother. I opened the door towards me and stepped out.
Happy Birthday just Happy Birthday (8:46am)
-8:46 am-
Opening the front door (Which I am the only one who uses the thing) I noticed my oh so lovely sister wasn’t on the first floor. There was no reason to worry though because I could hear her yelling at my father and mother in their bedroom (The master bedroom is my parents and it is in the top of the house). Standing in the doorway of my house I threw the Oldsmobile keys on the steps. In our family if you find something that needs to be put away, but it’s not yours you put it on the steps going up stairs. When the keys hit the third step they slipped down to the floor. I do not care enough to put them back on the stairs. The Mountain dew I bought at the gas station was still cold. I lifted my left hand and looked at the bottle. There was condensation forming around it. I’m going to go write another letter to my sweet Caroline. I am such a loser.
March 21, 1992 Dear Darling, The morning will come while I ride this plane into of your life again. I wish you could have seen my face. Leave yourself here because I will be coming. With your head upon my chest. I could be the one you love forever no matter where ever. This story is for you. I love you. The morning will come with the press of every kiss. With every single waking breathe… I hate my personality. I always have to be right. I always have to know everything. I’m always full of myself. I am, yes I truly am. I’m stupid and I feel like that’s why people do not like me. I’m sorry I wish I was better than this. Death seems so much friendlier than my family. Love Always, John
The type writer stopped as I lifted my hands from it. I had my fingers hovering over the words “Death seems so much friendlier than my family” I have written a many of letters about death and even more of suicide. I can feel a madness you know? This may be why I am breaking down. Doesn’t it taste so bitter? The sickness of the soul I mean. I am barley breathing it seems sometimes. Hope is slipping from my hands. The fear is never leaving. I hate waking alone. I want to throw my arms up in the air, why does your love feel so far away? Only God knows who I am. I feel so far away from even Him. God could you take away the pain, the pain of living? I have always been told that I am quite an emotional male. I do not disagree. I do not want you to think what I am not saying. I have written of suicide yes, yet I myself have never tried to go through with such an activity. I will give you three exact reasons as to why I have not killed myself. 1. It would kill my family (Metaphorically), 2. I would never have the pleasure of meeting my Darling, and 3. The Bible says it is a sin (I hope I do not have to further explain the reasoning behind not committing a horrid thing such as self-mutilation).
I leaned back in my old wooden chair. This piece of furniture was old and began to creak long before I was a twinkle in my mother’s eye. The chair had what felt like spinal cords going up the rear of it where one would rest their self upon. A square pillow that was rather odd looking in appearance was tied to the wooden bars. This pillow provided much needed comfort. When I let my gaze fall upon the chair I am often reminded of the St. Luis Arch. A long piece of curved wood kept the bars attached to the seat, but the seat on the other hand never gave me the impression of being spectacular. The seat of the chair was bland and oddly shape for a seat (I think it was created by a man and not a machine, there’s too much personality in the chair to be a copy). When I was younger I did so love to swivel in this very chair. Now in days, though, I only spin when I become bored or tired, but it still spins all the same even to this day. The lights began to fade. The slips of skin covering my eyes were now closing as they once were when I was in my mother’s womb. The sounds I heard were not of the room. I felt her putting her arm around me. Her body was laying on top of mine. Our bed white and soft felt like heaven. My Darling’s head moved up wards my body until she reached my face. Staring into her hazel eyes I felt warmth all around me. Her dark straight hair flowing all over. My eyes glanced down to her bottom lip and then back to her eyes. Our heads moved closer. The distance was decreasing, but the rate of my heartbeat was not. She touched me. Her hands moving all over my body. It felt right. It was right. I had blood rushing to the extremities of my body. We rolled all around on what seemed like a never ending mattress. She sat upon me blessing my eyes with the sight off her without covering. I followed her lead. Kissing her lips I moved to her cheek, to her neck and down it, her collar bone, her breasts, her stomach, and finally her. She exclaimed “Yes!” repeatedly. I moved my body closer to hers. moving her legs apart I entered her. We became one. We both felt the pleasure of love. When we finished I rolled over and fell off the bed. I felt like I was falling forever. Until my eyelids moved as fast as light from closed to open. The chair was falling backwards to the floor. my head wacked the wooden surface. Pain swarmed over my brain, but the embarrassment I felt hurt worse. I glared at arch in my jeans. It was soaked and sticky. A wet dream. This was not the first I have had of her. Turning my carbon based body to the laminate floor. I used my arms to achieve the elevation to stand. Even though I’m wearing black jeans the wet spot showed through.
Jesus was once man. I often wonder if head wet dreams. It technically is not a sin nor is it something that one could clearly control, but since he is God and is perfect did he ever get a hard one? I am quite curious if he did. I hate the feeling that is happening I need to retreat to my room to change.
The hard wood floor never creaks or groans. Unless you do not want to have people know you’re moving. Each step my feet stepped the wood chanted like it would give way to my weight. The previous owners of owners house were not the smartest. laminate flooring is designed to over above the concrete, but the people before my family glued the floor boards to the ground. Do to this it causes the wood to buckle and warp.
Happy Birthday just Happy Birthday (7:35am)
-7:35 am-
I felt the need to exit my office having spent most of the early morning hours sitting in there thinking. Walking across the hard wood floor I heard someone knock on the door. Picking up my pace I raced out my office door to the hall way. I didn’t want whoever it was to ring the door which would awaken my mother. Zooming down the stairs to the front door directly in front of the stairs I almost slipped and hit my head, but I caught myself just in time. I got to the door. Opening the latch and then the door I saw my sister. Why is my sister here? I thought when my parents asked me, “Would you like any family to come and visit for your birthday? And I said no that meant they wouldn’t invite my sister. It’s not that my sister is a bad person. She’s just a bandwagoning, Annoying, condescending, over rated, self-consumed, slob. When we were growing up together I never got to listen to music I liked. Anytime I found a new band or picked up one my friend would write me about she would yell at me. She would say that I can’t have that kind of music (This would have been all types and genres of it). The she would proceed with becoming a huge fan of that band and what not. Heck she did that to any popular music, movie, person, or book. She jumps on anything. She hates Starbucks. She hates child labor. She hates communism. She’s even a feminist (I support women’s right, always have always will. However, I do not support the feminist movement in how it is currently moving). She’s also staring right at me and its beginning to become awkward. “John are you going to let me in?” She asked. “Yeah sure” I responded. Stepping away from the door I let her inside. I really do not want her to be here. “Wow it feels like it’s been ages since I was like here last, you know?” She said. My sister
was taking her coat off and I was stepping farther and farther away. “John my favorite little brother where are you going off to?” She asked. I didn’t want to respond to that question because I didn’t know the answer to the question. I feel bad for just walking away, but I don’t know what to do with her. I am not in the mood to have her tell me how bad college life is and how she met more boys (Even though I know she hasn’t) plus she acts as if she knows the answer to everything (Even if she doesn’t, which she doesn’t). There was a time I was talking to my father about comic books and she walked in and tried to debate the subject with us. The only thing she knows of comics is what is in pop culture of the time. My father has always been a Marvel fan whilst I have been a DC fan. We’re not super dedicated to either of them though, so we flip-flop on who our list of favorite heroes and villains would be. The one thing that has ever changed about us is that I am 100% Batman and my father is 100% Spiderman. My sister on the other hand picks some obscure person that no one likes, but has a cult following. The only reason she likes that character is because it’s a cult classic or whatever. She is so stupid when it comes to things like this. I am pretty sure she hasn’t even read Ender’s Game yet (Which by the way is an amazing book!).
Escaping the situation with my sister I walked into the kitchen. She was still over by the door on the other side of the wall playing with my Gameboy she had found on the stairs. I don’t like that fact she is playing with it, but it is keeping her from me. I do not know what to do right now. Standing at the kitchen sink looking out the window I heard my sister ask. “You wanna go fill up my tank?” I used her car one time for a half hour. Walking out of the kitchen I turned to her. Throwing the keys to me I said “Yeah sure thing”. Immediately I walked from her to the door then out of it (For some reason my sister thinks that I should fill her entire tank up, The one time I drove it I drove the car to the store to buy more ink and a new ribbon, There is no way someone could use a whole tank of gas driving two miles). Getting into her car which is some kind of Oldsmobile that she abuses and sits way too close to the steering wheel. I notice the tank is completely empty. She does know it would have been cheaper just to fly right? Closing the door I pressed the lock down (It has become a type of habit). The key was in my right hand. Trying to put it into the ignition was tricky. My sister likes keychains. There are so many key chains that the whole thing weighed two pounds (Okay maybe not two pounds, but you get the picture). There is only one key. One key and nineteen dangling key chains. Once you crank the key in the car’s engine sounds as if turning over is such a chore. I have no idea when the last time she got the oil changed. Let alone the transmission fluid. All of the junk food and candy wrappers in the back window made it hard to see out of it. I pressed the break and moved the shifter to reverse. The Oldsmobile didn’t move back. I began pressing the accelerator more and more until the engine was roaring just to move. All I have to do is move back enough not to hit my car she parked behind. I really do not like when she parks behind me. It makes such a hassle to come and go from the house. Also I drive a V8 Mustang from 1972. I don’t think I have to make an emphases on how expensive it is. I love it though and it’s worth it. However, I do not love the large area on my bumper that is missing paint from the Oldsmobile rubbing up against it.
Pulling forward and turning sharply to the left from the curb I could hear the car fighting to make it through first gear. Driving to the end of our dead end neighborhood was more work for the transmission than it needed to be. It was becoming bluntly obvious that my sister’s car needed an oil change, new tans fluid, and gas (Plus I think a cylinder is misfiring…No Bueno).
I felt embarrassed driving my sister’s car into the Philipp’s 66 gas station. Parking the car at the pump I turned it off. I had no idea what kind of sounds came out of it when I did, but I know it wasn’t good. Opening the door I stepped out and pulled out my handy dandy debt card. I paid five dollars’ worth of gas and walked inside the station. I walked out with a bottle of mountain dew and got into the car. The same kind of sounds came when I started it once more. Coming back to my house I made sure to park five feet or so behind my car. Putting the Oldsmobile in park I sat just kind of sat there looking at the rear of my mustang. Someone of my age usually does not have the funds to afford a mustang. Actually I am a part of that too. I don’t have enough money to buy a mustang. My ’72 mustang was given to me by my grandfather along with my typewriter and his entire estate and money. I was the only one in his will.
Turning my sister’s car off the horrid clicking sounds returned (This car was brand new eight months ago). I shoved the key and all of the other crap into my right front pocket. Opening the creaking door 'one last time' I stepped out happy (I really did not want to get in that car again and I wouldn't).
Happy Birthday just Happy Birthday (6:28 am)
-6:28 am-
Just as I had signed my name the door creaked. Turning around in my chair I saw my father peeking in on me. “Are you excited you’re old now?” he asked. “I don’t know if excitement is the correct word choice. None the less, yes, I am ‘excited’ to be sixteen.” I stated. Father barley looked down from me, nodding his head as he stepped back closing the already almost shut door. I sat there in silence. I love my father, I really do and I know he loves me too, but he and I are just so different. While I may carry his looks, intelligence, and humor I do not carry his temperament or understanding for simple things. I have my mother thank for that. Mother is very opinionated and straight forward. I like that; however she doesn’t fully understand simpler things so she chooses not to even bother with them. When someone brings up something she knows nothing about she is sure to say something, even if it’s not totally true. It will just be what she thinks. The issue is when she says what she thinks it comes out in a condescending tone and as an opinion more than a thought. I struggle with this greatly. On the other hand my mother is caring, comforting, and understands love a great deal more than others. She taught me how to be those along with how not to be afraid to speak up. With both of my parents I learned something very important in this life, delayed gratification or as my father taught it to me “Work now play later”. They have been trying to instill that phrase and the principle behind it into me since I was a small boy. I hated it when my father or mother would bring it up, but as I grew older so did my understanding of life and how it works. That phrase has saved me from so many bad situations and is now my go to motto (Other than, the only way not to be cheated is to cheat, that is).
I have found that I day dream too much. Sometimes I stare at the wall and in only a moment I’m swept away. The issue with this is I become absent in whatever I am doing at the certain time. Also I lose track of time and it’s as if I travel into the future if only by a few minutes or a half hour. I believe this is what I have been doing for the past hour or so, actually. When father had left I was left alone starring at the door. I can see the light has shifted on the curtains. This tells me that I have been sitting in my chair for some time.
I got up and retouched shirt and tightened my tie. Spinning my chair back around I slid it against the desk. Standing there in front of my papers on my desk I saw a small stack of out of place papers. Reaching over to grab them I remembered what they were. These were all of the poems I had written some time ago. All of them were about a past and failed relationship that only I and my partner knew of. I felt a pain strike my heart. I had destroyed what could have been the greatest love I have ever had. The after math was the worst. I apologized after coming to my sense, but she would have none of it. You see I am not allowed to date until I am sixteen. So this relationship must have been kept a secret. We were together for two years. We had met at an art studio and we soon met outside of there. And from there our love began. You’ll hear people say that men just use girls for sex and then the girl becomes too attached when the guy leaves. Well sometimes it works the other way. However, she was not all to blame. She left and then I welcomed her back with open arms (A mistake I know made). I screwed up. I lost what grip I had on reality. She couldn’t take it. I needed her and I wanted her, but she didn’t want anything to do with me. She blocked me everywhere and completely took me out of her life. Please forgive me.
Williams in the wind
It’s a gut wrenching loss
The kind you weep over
Not the best feeling
Everyone knows it
Very unimportant
Everyone knows it
Rarely did you matter
Long ago you and I were we
As you know I left
So stop reminding me of you
This never happened
Stop being such a nini
The burning in my eyes became too much for me to bear. The tears rolled down my face (Oh, how I regret my life). Crinkling the poem in my hand I ripped it apart. How could anyone love me? My fists were so tight I could feel my bones bending beneath the weight of my anger. The surge of emotions was too much to handle. I grabbed the rest of the poems in my hand and slipped over to the window. It was unlocked. I opened it. I threw out the papers, watching them fly off in the wind. I looked towards the sun rise just coming over my weeping willow tree on the lonely hill. The pages now small in the horizon, seemed to just be that, little dots in the bright white light of the sun. As they disappeared so did my despair and sorrow of my past mistakes. The wind picked up and began to sway the willow tree, as if it were saying good morning. I remember the winter. It’s the loneliest time of the year, especially for my weeping willow tree. While he loses his leaves the others around him do not. The season sits on the other trees, but it weighs down on the willow, causing him to bend unnaturally, warping his bark the spine. The seeds of his work go nowhere. The rain only carries the dead things fallen from him. Why is it I feel for my weeping willow tree? The Lord works in mysterious ways they say.
My hair was falling into my face. I swept it back. Shutting the window I took one last glance at the willow tree. The sun now directly behind it created a “t” like figure. The greatest artist of all loves me.

After reading the two pages I fold up the letters and slip them back in the envelope, setting it on my desk next to my typewriter. Every time I read one of those letters I feel almost inspired. My friend tells me of his adventures and the things he’s done in less than a year of being a freshman. I wish I could go with him and his friends. They do some unsavory things though. So I don’t know if I would actually do any of the things they would do. Seeing the letters resting next to my 1911 Underwood Standard typewriter (which I had acquired in a will from my grandfather after his death) I was reminded of the letters I occasionally write. Unlike the letters I receive, the ones I write go nowhere (Well, other than under a trash bin they go nowhere).
March 21, 1992
Dear Darling,
"Sometimes there are people who fall in Love when they were not meant to, Sometimes there are people who fall in love with someone they weren’t meant to fall in love with. That’s not to say we were not meant to be in love, but what is love? You seem to think you are the problem in this relationship, but I think it to be me. Moreover, it’s probably the both of us. I’ll keep trying if you do my love. I see you standing there next to the cross. I pretend your name is Mary mother of Jesus, but you seem too sweet to be a morning mother. So I’ll assume your name is Caroline, Sweet Caroline."
Love Always, John
I wish I would give them to her. Actually, I don’t wish that. The letters I write are weird (Much like me). There is nothing I can do. The image of her penetrates my thoughts. She is taller than me, but not by much. She wears glasses (Like I do as well). And she always has a smile. Those lips being curled in that fashion remind me of a saying, “My smiles usually begin with yours.” It’s too true. I cannot help, but smile at the sight of her. Oh my sweet Darling…
John-
"Ever since I have been able to talk, I have always been told I am good with words and am very descriptive. I realized I’ve never shown you that. I really like your letter. More than you know. I love hearing what’s on your mind and I equally love that you tell me things. I’ve never really had people tell me things. They’ve always thought that I was too young or dumb, or not important enough. Some people never tell me things because they want an excuse to keep talking to me. I never liked that. I appreciate how you always tell me anything, even when you think they aren’t important. I’ve never had someone do that for me thank you.
I’m sorry I don’t write you a letter very often. I just don’t really know what to say to most of the time. I’ve always been able to express my thoughts and feelings, but I never can with you. I’m sorry about that. You just always seem to ask me the questions that I don’t know how to answer."
-Darling
It is sappy and dumb I know, but I see this girl every time I go to church. I don’t know her name and I don’t know if she knows I am real. Heck, I don’t know anything about her other than she’s beautiful and doesn’t like crowds. I wonder if she feels lonely in a crowded room. I wonder if she believes in anything better in this life (I know I do). I do not understand why I write letters to no one. Maybe it’s a mental issue. Then again, “Sometime a cigar is just a cigar”.

Happy Birthday just Happy Birthday (5:00 am)
-5:00 am-
In the movies when someone wakes up it’s a peaceful and graceful movement. In reality waking up is an ugly battle. Sleep is the drug, the bed is the dealer, and the alarm clock is the cop. A quite nasty love affair I’m afraid. The only good part in (my opinion) waking up is remembering your dream. I myself do not always remember my dreams. However, when I do remember I don’t forget them. I still remember parts of my dreams from when I was a toddler or even younger I suppose. The only issue is I do not recall when and where I had the dreams. So this causes confusion when trying not to mix several dreams together.
My dream last night was about today, my dream yesterday what about today; my dreams for the past month have been about today (okay maybe not the whole month, but it feels like it so whatever). Today is my birthday (yay). I honestly do not care if today happens or not, but I do care about what happens after this day is over though.
Getting out of my bed isn’t that hard. The hard part is not wasting my time thinking about what to wear for the day. Why is it that people think that all guys just wake up and go with it? I mean do you really think mister hunka hunka over there in the corner just woke up with his hair back and his clothes matching just right? I highly doubt it. I take a shower every night and because my hair poofs out I wear a ball cap to bed. When I get up I sit and stare at my dresser and closet wondering what I should wear. Even after that I go put grease in my hair to make it look I didn’t just wake up like this. That’s not to say that there aren’t guys who just wake up and walk out, but I myself am not one of them.
I keep everything from my home office to school locker clean. The only thing that I have never truly been able to keep clean is my room. I don’t see why I should keep it clean and I won’t get started on making my bed either. My office on the other hand is a different story. I like a neat and clean looking work space. My typewriter sits in the middle of my desk facing the window. The only other objects looming on my wooden workspace are papers, Pens, and a can of Mountain Dew. I like Mountain Dew. Along the windows sill sits my plant (I do not know what kind of plant it is; people tell me it’s an elephant plant). I named my plant Toby when it was first given to me and amazingly he’s three years old and not dead yet. My office is on the second floor, so looking out of it I can see a lot. There is single weeping willow tree on a hill; the foot of the hill is surrounded by pine trees. I sometimes think of myself as the willow tree on the hill much like me in my office peering down below at what the world has to offer. I usually don’t care to what the world has though.
Bowties are pretty cool. I like to wear them, but it is sometimes a little too much work to complete them in the morning before school. Because of that I typically just wear a normal tie and vest. Which in turn is what I’m wearing today (Okay I’m actually not dressed yet, but I will be).
There always seem to be a problem getting clean clothes into the closet or dresser. They make it out of the dryer and into a basket and then to my room, but somehow they never make it out of the basket. I’ve played with the thought of just getting rid my black dresser and having two baskets on the floor. That way I could have my clean clothes in one and dirty in the other. It is much simpler that way. Do you know how much time one might waste looking threw a dresser and many folded shirts? I have cut the time it takes of getting ready in the morning in half. The only bad things about this system in how things magically seem to always be wrinkled. For a dress shirt wrinkles are in most cases is inappropriate to have.
Sitting on the edge of my bed I feel the cold strike my skin like a slap on the back. For some odd reason my room is the only room to never have heat enter in the colder months and have it leave in the hotter months. I hate my room enough that I only use it to get dressed and to sleep, though I find myself sleeping on the couch more than my own bed. This is not odd or strange for me. My parents on the other hand think it is, along with my brothers and sister.
I have always been able to crack many of the joints in my body. Which is what I proceeded to do once I stood up from my bed. It does not bother me to do it nor does it distract me when others do it. It does annoy me when I hear people say you’re cracking your bones because that’s simply moronic. You crack you’re joints. In fact you’re breaking up acid that has built up in your joints, but to say cracking your bones? They do realize that mean you would be breaking you bones, right?
Walking over to my closet I grab my bare arms and chest to stay warm until I find a suitable shirt. I let go of one my arms to open my closet doors, which slide and poke out when you open them. Both of these doors make a hideous sound when they move. I hate the sound so I try not to use the closet as much as I can. Looking into the dark hole in my wall I see a mute red dress shirt and a blue 50s pencil tie next to it. I grab both of these items along with my vest. Turning around I throw them on to my unmade bed and pull out a pair of slim black jeans from one of the three clothes baskets on the floor. Continuing to scrounge through mounds of clothes I found two clean black socks and a clean pair of boxer briefs. I put everything on in this order, Underwear, socks, shirt, pants, belt, shoes, and finally the tie.
Do you think me strange to wake up at five every morning? Again my parents do along with my brother and sister. I can’t sleep in. I mean I can I just decide I won’t. The feeling that I’ve wasted my day starts to creep in on me if I sleep in. Now if I plan on doing nothing for the day then I have no problem with sleeping in until noon or what have you. The rest of my glorious family hates the morning. My mother says “it’s not morning till 11:59am”. No one else has a reason for being lazy (not that my mom really has a reason in the first place either). They all just sleep and wake up when they want to. I try to wake up at the same time every day. I like it like that. I don’t like my family in the morning “Gosh dang it John! Shut up! No one wants to hear about your dream”. “Mom I was just trying to remind you of your doctor’s appointment. You told me to remind you in the morning of it.”. “Tell me after I’ve woken up”. “You missed it by three hours.” I said. “What? What! What do you mean I missed it?!” At this very moment my mother’s face split open and her skull protruded. Flames began to ignite out of her eye sockets and I saw Satan come out of her (Maybe I am be making that part up, but her being mad… yeah that part I’m not making up). “I told you earlier. You didn’t want to wake up”. This was last week. Almost every morning whoever comes down stairs while I’m eating will start some kind of argument like this. Notice I stayed calm and did not lose my cool. I have a short temper by the way. These kinds of things happen often.
I walked out of my upstairs room into a short narrow hall and then down the stairs. Walking in the house when it is pitch black is not scary. It is simply nerve racking. Long after I would have retired to bed my mother will put things in the hall. Incidentally this causes me to trip and fall onto my face. Like the yelling almost every morning falling happens quite regularly. It’s worse in the winter months with the time change. At least in the spring there’s some ambient light hovering around. I have to say I’ve gotten pretty good at walking around my house in the dark (How weird is that?). Once I made it down the catacombs of the upstairs house I walk into the kitchen. From there I’m able to turn the lights in that room, the table, the dining room, and the sink on. I only turn on the kitchen lights because I don’t need all that much light to see now. I don’t really like how my kitchen looks. When we had it remodeled a few years ago there was talk about making it into a bar (Not a bar, bar, but a table bar). I was excited for this because I love how that kind of thing looks in houses. Sadly that never happened. We got stuck with an island in the middle of the room. Don’t get me wrong it is a nice looking thing. The guy whom we hired made it all by hand. I thought that was really cool. The down side was that I think it took like a month and a half to finish. I think way too much about our kitchen. I don’t think that I am the only who does though.
Opening the fridge and seeing Mountain Dew in the morning seems to make me feel better about everything. I grabbed one and opened it with one hand. My second oldest brother taught me how to do that before he left for the marines. Even though he never really liked me or treated me right when we were growing up I still loved him with all my heart. Ever since he was twelve he had it in his head that he was going to become a marine someday. That he did and I am very proud of him. He treats me better now and talks to me as a normal human instead of a dweeb little brother. That wasn’t always the case. When I was younger he would tease me. This never bothered me, but what did bother me was the fact that he didn’t care about me. I looked up to him as one of the biggest role models in my life. He was seldom, quiet, and straight forward and he’s tall like six-seven or so. Because of his height I called him Pencil Neck. He never did tell me if that annoyed him or not. I’ll assume it did. Most of the things I do annoys him. I still remember the day he told me how stupid I looked in my clothes and how dumb I was for reading Sigmund Freud’s basic Writings. I stood up and looked him in the eyes. I tightened my tie and rolled up my sleeves. I was serious and my body language showed it. Amazingly my brother took a step back from me. I said “You need to realize this is what I like and there is nothing wrong with it and if there is so sue me, but you sir you need to learn how to respect me”. After that I think he thought of me differently.
I sat down at the kitchen table with my drink. It was 5:40 in the morning. I have no idea as to what I should do. Someone once told me that your sixteenth birthday is the called a Sweet Sixteen. That same someone told me you can do whatever you want to. I think I’m going to take over the world today (On second thought, maybe not. I’m too lazy).
After finishing my drink, I arose and waltzed up the stairs and into my office. I don’t remember how I was able to attain my home office. Other than it was a guest room that was never being used. The bed was taken out when we moved and one day I just bought a desk and put it in there. I think sometime after that my parents just let me keep the room. I would have liked to take my sister’s old room, but she never really moved out. I mean she’s going to northwestern in Chicago so she doesn’t live here anymore. My sister decided to leave her crap in the room and never deal with it. To this day on one and open the door because of the profoundly pig lifestyle my sister took (Remember when I said that my room wasn’t clean? Well I am just a little messy with my clothes. My sister is not. She takes dishes and food and other things to her room never be seen again. I call it the black hole of the house.
There is a ring shape on my desk where I always set my soda. Everyone says use coasters so that it looks new. I don’t want the desk to look new. I want the desk to look like I used it. I want my desk to be worn. My clothes look worn, my shoes look worn, my life is worn, and I am worn.
I keep a row of sodas sitting on a lone shelf on the wall. I grab one opening it with one hand again and sat down. Setting the drink in the ringed spot I sat back in my old wooden chair. Gazing upon my desk I saw a letter I had received the day before. There was no return address. Only my address 11117 Browne Cir and it was addressed to me. I have been receiving these letters for the past few months. I do not know who sends them. In the first letter the person told me that author would not being using their really names so that I don’t know who they may be. None of this is disturbing other than right after that the writer said “I am writing to you because she said you listen that’s all people need sometimes”. I don’t remember what he wrote word for word. I keep all of his letters in a locked cabinet in my desk. I do not know who would have told him I was someone to write to. I just wish I could know who so I could thank them. This writer has given me so much to think and pray about in life. So I put my finger on the envelope and ripped it open. Today’s letter was a shorter one. My friend in the letters is in love with a girl, he calls her Sam. Sam seems like a very nice girl, but my friend won’t do anything about it because he gets too nervous. He kissed her once then his girlfriend broke up with him. That was inappropriate for him to do at a party (He should not have dated that Mary girl in the first place in my opinion). Even though this mysterious writer does these kinds of things I still wish I knew him. I like the way he signs all of his letters “Love Always, Charlie”.
