Beta males can squeeze more money from their budget for Alpha Males
As beta males, we are born with an obligation to serve Superior MEN. That is why we tribute cash online. It is a good way to serve when we can’t (or don’t have the courage to) serve in person. We all want to better serve Real MEN but money is usually tight. Beta males have a responsibility to manage their money well because technically it isn’t our money, it’s for Alphas who are more deserving than us. We periodically need to step back and examine our spending to see if we are doing all we can be doing for the MEN we serve.
So, here’s some ideas for squeezing more money out of our budgets so we will have more for them. Nothing here is rocket science or even probably new. You’ve probably heard it all before. But it doesn’t hurt to hear it again.
1. Liquids – we all spend too much on things we drink. Most of us could do without all the extra calories too.
a. Coffee – I buy K-Cups to make coffee every morning. That is a real expensive way to buy coffee. I’m going to start buying ground coffee in bulk and use a refillable K-cup. That will save about 50 cents a day. Not a fortune but I’d rather give that yearly $180 to a Man than to Keurig.
b. Soft drinks – Lose the soft drinks and save the money.
c. Bottled water – I can’t believe that people spend so much money on something that falls from the sky virtually everywhere on the planet. And before you say, “I don’t like the taste of tap water,” you’re just used to the taste of the bottled water. You can get used to the taste of the tap water.
d. Alcoholic drinks – They’ve really jacked up the price of drinks in bars. Quit wasting your Man’s money. If you have to have a drink, fix one at home.
2. Restaurants – Eating out consumes huge amounts of money. Brown bag all lunches and make eating out for dinner a special treat rather than a regular event.
3. Clothing – Look in your closet. You probably have enough clothes to last for years. Only buy clothing when you absolutely need to.
4. Transportation – Cars are a depreciating asset. Never buy a new one. Buy a used car and hold on to it. That can free up a lot of cash for your Alpha.
a. We covered restaurants and bars above.
b. Movies – What can I say, you know what they cost. Get a Netflix subscription.
c. Cable TV – Huge waste of money. Get an antenna. The over the air stations and Netflix should keep you entertained.
d. Sports events, concerts, etc. Again, get Netflix.
6. Cell phones – Hold on to your phone until it dies and don’t buy the most expensive one.
7. Subscriptions – Take a look at all the subscriptions you have and add up what they are costing you. Newspaper, magazines, delivered food and many more. Do you really need all of those? Drop as many as possible.
8. Energy – Thermostat down in the winter, up in the summer. Don’t waste water. Turn off lights. Switch from incandescent to LED lights. (LEDs have a high initial cost but pay for themselves in less than 18 months typically.)
9. Credit Cards – One of the worst things you can do is carry a credit card balance. The interest will suck you dry. (Why do you think banks have such big fancy buildings?)
All that money you are paying to the banks is money that you can’t give to a Real Man. Do whatever you have to do to get it paid off; work an extra job, sell something you own, do all the stuff above. Then get rid of the card. Even if you pay the card off every month you should get rid of it. Studies have shown that you spend more with a credit card than with cash. Nothing earth shattering here. Individually, most don’t amount to much but add them together and they are a significant amount of money for your Alpha. Time to take action!
