sirena-merciless:
“Oh, my! Free drinks? If I had know I could get a better deal I would have killed him right here, right now, but I can’t do anything inside your lovely stablishment so I have to wait for the cover of darkness to unleash the true monster” Lariel smiled and went back to sit on the chair, closing her legs one on top of the other, like a true lady. She could act like one, talk like one, but both, the ghoul in front of her and herself, knew she wasn’t one. She was as untamable as the sea in a furious storm.
“No, I’m not new. I’ve been here for a long time, but sometimes it feels like it was only yesterday I set foot in this hell hole they call city. At least I was lucky to land somewhere. Others like me were not so lucky. They could not play the game the way I did, but at the end, it saved me life”, the siren said. “I wish it was more…well, more, but I can’t be ungrateful” Lariel stared at him in the eye. “My shop bring me customers that entertain me, and of course, there’s the ocational barman as well”. She closed her eyes and licked her lips “I can’t wait for the sun to go down. It has been a while since I’ve properly haunted. I preffer sailors but, in times likes these, I can’t get to chose” The siren tilted her head and asked “Would you like to watch me? Something in your eyes tells me you like to watch”
“Were you here during the Rift?” his voice hummed in question. Part of him wondering what had happened to cause this woman to land on shore, and what had caused so many to lose their lives.
The ghoul growled softly under his breath after another inhale of tobacco before stubbing it out against the ashtray on his desk. The thought of her hunting, made him just as hungry for flesh. He hummed again at the thought of watching her work, and he rose from his seat, approaching her a few deliberate steps at a time. “The boy will be finishing work in about an hour. I think there’s a way so that we both get what we want. Think you can wait until then?” He gazed down at her, his eyes now red with the thought of feeding, filled with want.
sirena-merciless:
The siren was actually surprised when the ghoul began to follow her. She thought for a moment that her song would fail because he was…well, dead, and sometimes she even had a hard time trying to lure vampires. There was also the posibility that he was just faking and wanted to see if she had any valuables in her shop. Nevertheless, she had faced ghouls before, and she learned a thing or two over the years. She wasn’t invinsible, but she could kick ass if she needed to.
They walked through the streets, passing secret hallways that became darker with every step they took. When the sun was covered by roofs and then by a dark tunnel, Lariel breathed in the smell of humidity in the air. It would have been better to smell the sea but she couldn’t be ingrateful. This was better than nothing.
Lariel smiled when she heard his words and turned her head around to look at him “Don’t worry, I don’t eat dead flesh, and besides, smelling like death, you also smell like shit, no offence”, her eyes glowed and then she continued walking until they got out of the tunnel. “Home sweet home”, she sighed.
The ghoul’s mouth curved upwards into an amused smirk as she insulted him but remained silent. A comment he had heard of before, but it kept him alive. The perks of being a ghoul was no one wanted to feed on them.
“So this is your market?” Caspian traced his finger-trips across the items, and picked up what appeared to be either a ghoul’s or vampire’s fangs. Holding it up to the light and examining it, his head turned to face the siren. “Now, how did a siren end up with these?” His grin appeared menacing as he took a step closer, just a few inches in front of the woman, the fang rotating between his fingertips
lovelyxlonelyxluna:
Luna had been working a long shift, and it was all going pretty well. She was good as a waitress, and rather trustworthy. She was often sent to run errands for her manager who was unable to leave the bar when they were working. But Luna gladly would run to pick up food, drop off things at the cleaners. Sometimes other tasks that need to be done quickly. She loved doing them, and she always got this sense of pride, the fact that she was asked all together made her smile.
So when her manager came to her and asked her to pick up their carry out meal from Sweet Oaks she was happy to do it. She quickly took down the name and the order on a slip of paper, so nothing would be left behind. She tied up her dirty blonde hair into a ponytail and bounce out the door. Luna was wearing what she usually did for work. A pair of slim fitting black jeans and a rather tight black top. She liked to be covered but still knew that her curves would help her make the good tips.
She walked down the street quickly and when she arrived at The Sweet Oaks to pick up the order she was informed that the order had not been place.
“But it is already paid for…I have the confirmation right here,” she showed the waitress the slip. But she just gave Luna a dead eyed look. “Can I speak to the manager or owner?” The waitress looked at her with wider eyes and looked towards the door.
Luna didn’t wait for any protests or pleads. She walked over and firmly knocked on the door stepping back. She watched as the woman walked out and she snickered a little. Stepping into the office she folded her arms across her chest. “Complaint actually, I’m here to pick up an order, it isn’t ready.” She informed the man as she narrowed her eyes. “I don’t have time to waste so…can I get a discount?”
Honestly, he was far from in the mood to be dealing with customers. However, this came with the ownership of this place, and it was something he would have to deal with no matter how shitty he was feeling. If a discount was all she needed to satisfy her and to stop any bad reputation, that was easy enough to do.
“That is very unusual. Normally we make sure all our orders as quickly as possible, we rarely have any sort of delay unless we are exceptionally busy, but we always try our best to be efficient. Can I ask when the order was placed? So I can speak with the employees about this.” No doubt it was a slip up with one of the waitering staff, one that could effect the reputation, or at least lose a customer or a small income loss from having to give a free order to make up for the mistake. Not completely disastrous if it was a one off, but one he may have to bring up in future should it continue to happen.
“Please. Allow me to give you the order for free as an apology for this. I’ll make sure one of the waiters refunds the full amount of your order. I’ll make sure this will not happen twice.”
sirena-merciless:
Lariel stood up from the chair when she saw them man enter the office. It was obvious he was scared by justl ooking at his face. He began to stammer and the siren couldn’t help but smirk when she heard him. It always brought a smile to see her victims, or in this case, the ghoul’s victim, shit himself in his pants. If he thought the siren was going to close hr mouth and don’t complain to his boss about what had happened, he had anothing thing comming to him.
“I’m sorry! I’m really sorry”, the barman stared at Lariel with tears running down his face “I swear I didn’t maean to insult her. I won’t do it again, I swear it!”, he looked down, shivering and hugging himself, trying to protect his body from his owner’s rage as well as the siren, who began to walk around him.
“You most certantly won’t do it again”, she placed her hands on his shoulder and nuzzled his neck. “Never again”, she said an the man nodded “Bring me my gin and tonic or I’ll be drinking your blood isntead”. The siren looked amused at how quickly them an ran from the office to do as she asked. “While he’s in here, he’s safe, but once his shift is over…” she looked at the ghoul “…he’s mine”
Caspian leaned back in his chair with the fainted smirk on his face as the boy scurried off. “Your drinks will be on the house. It’s the least I can do,” he offered, taking a long drag of his cigarette between his finger tips.
It was true, he couldn’t allow even a customer to harass any of his employees in any way. Inside of work. Outside, she could do whatever she wanted. And he wasn’t going to stop her in any way. In fact, it made him almost smile. That sadistic part of him even wishing to witness it himself, though unable to as his employer. Yet, if he lost his job, that wouldn’t be a problem any more.
“He’s all yours,” his gaze not faltering from hers.
Perhaps they were alike in some way, he saw a mutual ruthlessness that was hinted in her words and eyes - yet he knew her true darkness was kept behind, no doubt displayed as she tore through anyone that dared to mock or oppose her. It was certainly the reason he felt drawn to this siren. After all he could see through the cunning and the callous, most of that nature tend to have that feeling, that power of somehow knowing when they were looking into someone that was hiding an inner darkness similar to their own, to some degree or another. And here he finally found another one. And he wanted to see her true potential.
He remembered her now, they met before - in the square - before she lured him into Devil’s Fork. Yet something about her seemed almost like he had seen her before then, a long time ago. "You’re not new to Isolon, are you?” A random question, but it was one pestering his mind.
im-og-en:
Unmoving, Imogens’ eyes were fixed upon the mans face even after her hands were relieved of their load. She’d always found Caspian to be an intrigue, his age and past experiences made his emotions both stronger yet harder to decipher all at once. Her eyes roamed over his features, the steady stare would probably have been uncomfortable to most people but she didn’t really care. At the question of whether the menus were from the chef, she didn’t react. Knowing he was fully aware of where they had come from. She stood patiently, waiting to be dismissed.
Upon his question about her reading the menus, she canted her head from side to side in a negative response. She waited still, before realising he probably wanted more of a solid response than her merely moving her face, especially considering he wasn’t actually looking at her. Her voice was soft and steady, slightly husky and without an accent “I didn’t read them.” Her statement was true, she’d simply made her journey from A to B without as much as scanning the pages in her hands. The menus weren’t really her business to be reading until they were finalised “I listened” she added, referring to the endless stream of chatter and ideas that the chef had been bouncing off her and writing down intermittently during their shift.
“I see,” he locked his gaze on the other. The menus seemed perfectly fine to him, certainly of standard for the head chef, and better than the ones before. “I know this isn’t your position, but I know how well you cook, with a passion for everything you do. So I ask you, have you ever had any of your own ideas you’d like to see on the menu?”
The girl had always been quiet, perhaps shy, and he believed the only way to get to know his employee was by her own culinary ideas. Having been a head chef before, and knowing that every chef had their own way to produce the food, their own speciality, he wanted to give her a voice.
big-ass-brassi:
He, for one, took his employment seriously. There are plenty of people that tell him that he’s too stuck up and emotionally stunted, but he never really cared about all of that. Lorenzo knew that he was efficient and precise. His set of skills had been practiced into near perfection over the course of his elongated life, but even he cracked and slipped up at times. There was always a fine line between working at the art gallery, fulfilling his orders from Griffin Hawthorne and answering to those that wanted to hire him as a shot.
Free time is a luxury that he honestly didn’t like to take up that often. He was a workaholic, but the thing was that he enjoys what he does. Curating art is a passion of his that will never die. Putting his non-existent glamorous ways to the test when it comes to getting information was also a challenge that filled the time. The only thing that he didn’t particularly enjoy was killing. Lorenzo only took the lives that he was hired to end, and even then there have been times where he backed out. He didn’t have the choice when he was younger of course, but now he’s at the age where he could handle himself well enough to have the opinion on the marks he was given.
Yet with all of this babble aside, it’s something that runs through his head frequently. It’s never at the forefront of his thoughts, but it was behind the curtain and screens of his mind. He had just gotten off of the phone with Griffin for his next assignment, and Lorenzo couldn’t help but pause everything for a moment. Even vampires can get tired and he was at the point where he honestly wanted to rest for two days in a row. All he needed to do was to drop in by a few places to check on how things were going, but he felt a little reluctant to do so. His throat itched for some drinks, one alcoholic and the other without, but he pushed on and made his way to the first establishment.
The Sweet Oak came into view, and when he went inside he casually spoke to an employee before he was left to his own devices. Lorenzo made his way over to the office, and when he knocked he wasn’t sure what to think. A woman hurried her way out, and while he couldn’t see with his eyes he could hear exceptionally well. There have been worse thing he had interrupted and walked into, but he kept his opinions to himself. Except when he heard the man continue to speak he didn’t enter the room. Lorenzo stood by the doorway and straight up frowned on the spot. “No, I am looking for nothing of that sort. I seem to have gotten the wrong room, excuse me,” he said flatly as he began to retreat from the other’s general presence.
“Well, there isn’t any other room you’d be looking for in this restaurant. Now you’re here, you may as well sit down.” Caspian stood up as he watched the other walk away. “Come. I’m not going to murder anyone or fight you in this establishment, am I? If you came for business, that’s all it would be.” Unless he somehow managed to find a way to piss this guy off, which seemed unlikely considering his last attempt at provoking him. “Within these walls, this is as civil as I’m going to get.” Even back when he was a chef, unless a customer had spat on his food and sent it back to him in the kitchen, Caspian had an entirely civil and rational mask, completely different to the one as soon as he was out of the building.
sirena-merciless:
“Yes, he would have, but I rather my victims to have their blood free of any drugs and that man, is an ocational user. I’ve seen him once or twice in one of the many tunnels of the Devils Fork, where my shop is” Lariel said, licking her lips “I rather miss having a sailor between my arms. The taste of the sea in their skin and the sweetness of their blood was heaven for me” The siren closed her eyes, remembering those times when she used her voice and wondered if it worked on the ghoul. “If you want me to take you there, then all you have to do, handsome, is follow my voice”, she said, begining to walk in the direction of the tunels that would lead them to the Devils Fork, a palce not many dare to enter.
“Now that explains the waste of opportunity. I agree. Ruins the taste of the meat,” he hummed. Devil’s Fork was dangerous territory for Caspian, avoiding the warlock behind it all; Griffin Hawthorne. Yet, he’d never was one for being overly cautious - and having his bones broken whenever they met again was just their common greeting now, though inconvenient, for it took an hour to a few hours for his bones to heal depending which ones - normally, it was the femur he went for. That was one bone, he wanted to avoid being broken. The longest to heal, and the most painful.
He knew that he never had the ability to glamour like a vampire would, as irritating as that could be sometimes. It made him susceptible to being glamoured himself by a vampire or siren, but he seemed to even welcome it. Perhaps he was already under the siren’s call as they spoke, which would explain his intrigue and willingness to follow the woman. Perhaps he genuinely did have an interest of his own accord. She could take his soul if she wanted, but he knew himself his soul wouldn’t be the most appetising to feast on; even his flesh was tainted and rotten.
“If your plan is to lure me and have me as your next meal, I would recommend against it. A ghoul is never something anyone wishes to feast on even if they were the only option. Though perhaps you have peculiar tastes.” Caspian was nonchalant, almost welcoming her to even try and feed on his soul. He was curious himself how vile it was. He followed her, however, compliantly, as they entered the tunnels.
ryde-on:
Anyone can throw a variety of insults at him at this point and it wouldn’t ruffle his feathers one bit. The only thing that did make him get irritated was the amount of time it was taking for the shithead to move. A part of him had already slapped a name to the face, but the bigger side of him, which was his gut in all honesty, didn’t give two shits about what the guy was saying. The man’s lips could flap all they want, but the second the ghoul ate the apple strudel it was like all hell just flipped a switch in his head.
“Listen, buddy-o,” he gritted out as he felt his skin start to change. “I don’t know who the fuck you are, and I honestly didn’t listen to anything you said, but I just wanted one fucking strudel.” The red in his eyes almost muddled into a darkened brown as his teeth started to elongate in his human mouth. It only took a second for him to reach out and seize the other’s shadow. Ryder narrowed his eyes and formed a thick spike solidified from the silhouette. He called it forward to pierce right through the back of the other’s neck. The spine was missed by a long shot, but he purposely split the end of the point so it could wrap around the ghoul’s throat. “But no you just had to fucking take one,” he huffed as another prong was snapped forward to spear through the hand that held the pastry.
He knew this hellhound was capable of killing him all over again, but he didn’t quite expect him to do it in the middle of a fucking store. He did see something like this would happen, but man did it feel good to finally piss this guy off. Now he knows just a fucking slither of what he made him feel all those years ago. He didn’t care of the consequences. He just wanted to make him feel something, and it worked.
He could never forget the pain of those spikes, and compared to all those years ago, this was nothing in comparison - yet he could never quite prepare himself for it either. An excruciating pain ripped through his larynx, his trachea contracted against the impact, only causing another stabbing pain that made him flinch. He could now feel the warm liquid of his blood pooling down the insides of his throat. Attempting to speak caused the blood to splutter out of his mouth in wet gargling gasps for air, and any sound that came out was followed by the sound of his blood pooling around the spike still lodged in his throat and it took effort and another round of piercing agony to utter even just a few high pitched squeaks. Now he was nothing more than a mouse cowering under a savage beast.
The next spike impaled his hand, his fingers opened immediately, dropping the strudle, paralysed from the spike lodged between the tendons. The nerves in his palm spasmed and shot pulses through to his forearm like multiple electric shocks. The pain in his hand however was nothing in comparison to his neck.
Fuck. You. More blood spat from his mouth, his trachea attempted to swallow the blood, pushing it against the spike that was at least keeping him alive, but fuck did it even make him whimper and shudder. Every breath was agony, and every exhale only brought up more of the red liquid from his throat. He was getting air, but barely. He was choking on his words, and that was fucking humiliating.
Eventually he started to stagger, wheezing, his uninjured hand reaching to grab hold of the spike in his neck. The spike never touched the spine which meant it was close to the arteries, to the point of touching them. If he pulled it out in the wrong way, he could rupture one, and he would bleed out or drown in his own blood - but he needed release, already feeling like he was suffocating and drowning at the same time. How can you not fucking remember. He stopped trying to speak, it was a wasted effort and would give the hound too much satisfaction, and at least Caspian pulled out the spike from the back of his hand with one solid tug.
sirena-merciless:
Lariel listened to his words and sometimes she could swear she could her the sarcasm leaving his mouth. She hated that and hated that behind all that fancy words, he found it amusing. She had a couple of jokes like that on the past that cost her a few clients, but it was like asking a vampire if they really sparked in the sun. something that irritated them beyond belief, or to tell a werewolf to go fetch while they were in wolf form and make a few other dog related jokes that ended up in disaster.
The siren glared at him and nodded “Bring him in. Nothing would make me more happy than to see the look on his face”, she said finally. “I thought this place was supposed to be cool. It has a high reputation so that’s why I came here. Imagine my suprise to find the barman making fish jokes to the siren” Lariel stared at the ghoul’s eyes. “Bring him in”, she repeated. “I’ll give him something to joke about”
Imagine that. It was a bizarre feeling to both feel infuriated and amused simultaneously. Though once the barman entered, there’s no stopping himself from losing his composure in front of this customer. And he would, because unlike the previous owner, the ghoul was a lot more ruthless and would not hesitate to yell at his employees and fire in an instant without hesitation. After calling the main line and requesting him, it would only be moments for him to arrive.
Sure enough, he heard a knock and the man entered, and by the look in his face, he already knew what was coming for him. “I want to hear it from your fucking mouth.”
The man started stammering about not ‘meaning anything by it’ and a lot of fucking bullshit Caspian already wanted to kick this one’s face into the ground beneath his shoe and demand he apologised before he fired him. As tempting as it was to do that, he still managed to remain composure. “I want you to give the woman a sincere fucking apology before I shove that smug face of yours through that fucking window.” Caspian reached into his pocket and took out a cigarette, lighting it and exhaling, waiting for the boy to give him an opportunity to make him spew out nothing less but something with actual real remorse.
sirena-merciless:
The siren looked at the stranger from the other side of the street and frowned, letting the other man go. “Get away from here before I really take your hand, trust me, I carry a knife with me all the time”. Lariel saw the man gulp and his eyes widen in fear before running away from the place to turn around a corner and never be seen again.
The Merciless crossed to the other side and stared at the man up and down “I was wondering were the smell of death was comming from”, she took a steps closer to sniff at his neck “It’s you” The siren smirked and crossed her arms over her chest. “I have lots of hands in my shop if you want to see them, and between you and me, my tongue is not the only sharp part of my body”
Caspian watched as the man ran for his life with a smile still painted on his lips. “Shame, he would have made a great meal. Do you not agree?” The ghoul hummed lowly at her words, the scent of death was not one he hadn’t heard before. Being undead, and knowing to be a savage creature by many, he learned to take death as a compliment. “You tempt me. What else might I find? I admit you’ve intrigued me.” He looked into green eyes. “How about you take me there.” Though siren wasn’t his first choice of flesh, he was willing to taste sea for the first time in a while - but after meeting her, he realised what a foolish mistake that would be. He caught his interest, to say the least.
im-og-en:
Imogen had been working at The Sweet Oak for a few months now, whilst it was her secondary job, working there of an evening or when she had a spare day to cover for someones absence, it had really inspired a passion in her for cooking. She had quickly managed to be moved from general dogsbody to the entree’s station and she loved making the appetisers look beautiful for customers, every one she sent out warming her heart a little. The head chef had been working on a few alterations to the menu, wittering on about the changes to her all night whilst they worked even though Imogen never made an effort to reply.
Service had finished, all was cleaned up with and Imogen had been preparing to leave when the chef bustled over to her in a hurry, spewing something about “having to leave and could you please just go and drop these new menu options in the office for Caspian to review?” knowing that the small girl wouldn’t object. Clutching the papers in her hands, she sighed silently and looked in the direction of the office, not wanting to breach the strange vibes coming from behind the closed door.
She knocked the door with a soft rapping, waiting obediently to be called inside, a few moments later a woman hurried out, Imogen’s dark eyes following her form as she strode out of the restaurant. Hearing an invitation, her attention snapped back to the office and she stepped into the room. Her eyes, almost black in their intensity, bore into the man who smelled like alcohol and bitterness. Holding out the menus, she made no indication that she was going to close the gap between them to hand them over.
Imogen. One of the chefs. Many years ago he remembered when he was in the same position as her, though as head chef back in those days. He always held a respect for those that appreciated culinary arts and from what he could tell from her food that she had the same passion and drive as he once did, and still did. With his age, a decade only seemed like several months in his eyes.
Caspian looked at the girl before he glanced down at the menus held extended in her hands. Part of her wished the girl would speak more, but she always had a rather quiet exterior toward him. Perhaps intimidated by him.
After a pause he took the menus from her hands, and quickly skimmed through them. The girl probably expected for him to take them so that she could quickly go, but instead he asked a question, though knowing the answer himself already. “These are from the head chef?” he glanced at her again before resuming his gaze across the menu. “Did you manage to look at these before delivering them to me?” He asked for a specific reason, which was he wanted her to become more involved. He was curious what her opinions were, and if she had any idea of her own. All chefs need opportunity to show their skills, and now he was giving that opportunity for her to open up to him.
sirena-merciless:
Lariel had heard that The Sweet Oak was one of the best places, if not one of the best, in Isolon. She had never stepped foot inside the place before, but one day, after a terrible business transaction had gone terribly wrong (meaning she had killed the so called buyer when he had tried to kill her for a simple knife with rubies and emeralds that supposedly could give eternal life) the siren decided she needed some well deserved treat.
She left her shop after locking the door and making sure she kept the key safely hidden, and made her way through one of the many tunnels that formed the Devils Fork. Lariel smiled when she saw yet another dead body, a fresh one, by the looks of it, and smiled. The siren was sure it would be already gone when she came back from her walk.
She arrived at The Sweet Oak and took a seat at the bar, asking the barman for a gin and tonic. Now, the guy was too stupid, too cocky, too arrogant, or all the above. Perhaps he hated sirens or had something against them, but it was definetely a bad move onn his part when he served her a glass with a dead fish tail inside and a pink umbrella. Lariel only stared at him before standing up and go knocking on the door where the owner was. She waited until a male voice told her to go inside and walked right in, sitting on the lonely chair at the front of the desk placing her hand at the top of it. “I already have a job. Requests? Yes, fire the incompetent barman. Complains? Yes! He thought it would be funny enough to serve me a dead fish, so, as the owner I expect you to punish him, or as it’s in my right as a customer, I will, and it won’t be pretty”
Something about the woman’s face made him think he had seen her somewhere before, however trying to place it soon trailed off of his mind as he listened to the woman rant. In fact, he found it rather amusing and it took everything in him not to let out a chuckle. A dead fish to a siren. The thought crossed his mind of giving the barman a raise but also knowing professionally better. Part of him also wished to fire the man, and he couldn’t decide which was the best option. Perhaps a raise, only to fire him straight after. Caspian certainly had nothing against sirens, though he did bestow a rather dark sense of humour.
Remaining poker-faced, he paused for a moment, tallying his words. “Honestly? I can’t believe that one of my employees would outright display his distaste for sirens right under my roof. If he thinks this was amusing, then I’m as infuriated as you." Part of him was infuriated that he ruined the reputation of The Sweet Oak, and that was something he could not tolerate. “You have my apologies for this, and I assure you that he will be punished. In fact I could bring him in here right now, if you wish. Not only is it against health and hygiene regulations, it is discrimination and threatening behaviour toward our customers and I assure you he will no longer have a place to work in this building.”
Lariel, better known by everyone in the Supernatural World as The Merciless, was walking throught one of the many tunnels of the Devils Fork. She never used the same if she wanted to go to Withergate. To her, it was a matter of strategy and safety for there had been rumors that a siren’s body had been found, her heart pierced by a bronze dagger, and rumors or not, she wasn’t going to risk it until some of the Informants could confirm it.
When she got out, she sighed and glared at the sun before start making her way to the nearest supermarket to buy the food she would need to survive. Even sirens needed to eat, and no, they didn’t eat fish like some people believed.
The siren turned around a corner when someone put a hand on her shoulder. Lariel turned around and wrapped her hand around the stranger’s wrist, squeezing hard. “Touch me again and this hand will belong to me. I could sale it for a nice price back at my shop”
The sun always added agitation and further hunger for the ghoul - with one person’s flesh never being enough to satisfy him, he was left especially irritable during the day - wishing to kill a few more but knowing better. Though he started to stalk a potential meal, he notice another touch the woman’s shoulder, and the reaction was one he wasn’t quite expecting, but one that actually managed to gain his attention and amusement.
Caspian left out a smirk and a short laugh before calling out to the woman “Your shop intrigues me. If you’re offering a hand, I’ll gladly take it,” cracking a pun and cracking dark humour over a possible individuals missing limb wasn’t quite what he had expected - and that’s what made him want to communicate with her further. “You have a sharp tongue. I admire that in a woman.”
