Are you afraid of robots?
“Ah, yup...sure.”
Do you believe in the omnipresent Christian God?
“Aren’t you specific! Yes and no? I lean more towards polytheism.”
LETS PLAY THE 'YES' OR 'NO' GAME: Ask me questions and I'm only allowed to answer with 'Yes' or 'No'
biggest turn on(s)?
“Besides her letting me big spoon on that booty? Imma have to say her intelligence, her confidence, her smile, her sense of humor…just everything about her, really.”
@rowanlaro
If you were to write a book what would it be about?
“It’s already underway and basically it’s about a young traveler on a quest to find peace, his struggles to stay alive and everything he finds out about life along the way. It’s got a Call to the Wild feel to it but with a fresh spin and I think it’s gonna be dope when it finally comes out so stay tuned.”

“—yeah, this probably isn’t the best place to have a serious conversation,” Castillo chuckled, adjusting the plastic bib the waitress had just provided. “It’s an odd choice for a business meeting, right? But I’ve got this list of spots I’m working through and unfortunately for you, this place was next up. Or maybe, fortunately, depends on if you like seafood. I mean there’s plenty accommodations in case you don’t, but come on, Chey..tell me you love some crab as much as I do...Oh shit, my bad. Do you mind if I call you Chey?” An amused expression etched in his features, he looked across the table at the Religious Studies Professor to see if she had gotten settled.
ROLARO:
Castillo shook his head as he popped a piece of soft pretzel in his mouth, his dark curious gaze resting on her features. It occurred to him that she had taken him the wrong way, but the responsibility was on him as he apparently had been careless with his phrasing. “I meant in the short amount of time we have, now probably isn’t the best time to get into it...there’s so much I want to share with you and it would take who knows how long to get into it all. To be honest, I kind of miss our all night purge sessions, emphasis on all night and hence me asking you to come and see it in person, well at least the unedited version,” he said with a wink as he ate another piece of bread. “But nah, as a precursor I can tell you the experience made me more open to other faiths and religions. I think my biggest takeaway was that regardless of what we each believe or don’t believe, it’s important to have some semblance of faith. By that I mean the quality of life is so much richer or can be when we have hope in something bigger than ourselves. Know what I mean?” While waiting for her to digest that he’d laid on her he poured them each a little more wine then eagerly waited for her reply. “Which one? The summer event I’m working on with the kids is in July, then we have Sundance in January. You think you want to go to both?” He asked, wiping the crumbs from his mouth before downing a bit more wine.
“I feel that love, I understand I really do and maybe I’m oversimplifying this but the next step seems easy, and that is to make a decision and I’ll support you one hundred percent. I’m not sitting here giving you some ultimatum, but to me, it seems as simple as do you want to move forward with me or not. And if the answer isn’t easy for you, then let’s talk about what is holding you back. I think it goes without saying...I can’t hang around another ten years being just an option to your career, I won’t,” he stated earnestly, though his voice was intentionally modulated and reflective of his true desires.”I already said it but I’ll say it again...It’s the same song I’ve been singing for the past ten years. I want a family. I want you by my side, forever and always, plain and simple.” His eyebrows lifted a bit at the sudden change in tone and he let out a soft sigh. “I mean, you say assume but my comments are based off what you said...my thought is you wouldn’t have even brought up the possibility of going back to the guard unless you were giving it some strong consideration. Or maybe you had been doing just that and this is where you are now, but either way, the fact remains the same. Neither of us has lead lives conducive to settling down. This isn’t a new conversation as you know and to be honest Ro, I gotta think beyond the here and now. I would drop everything, all the traveling abroad looking for something meaningful to sustain me, I’d dropped in a millisecond, without hesitation if I can find that right here with you. That’s my hope for our future, you know?” He commented, regarding her with a soft gaze as he reached for her hand. The thought of the possibility of finally settling down with his beloved made his heartthrob wildly against his ribcage and she would have seen the unrestrained excitement in his eyes as he looked at her, hopeful and dreamily.
He believed her comments on focusing on the here and now were purely innocent but in terms of lifespan thinking, he was at the end of his, he was nearing the age where decisions were far more pressing, from his perspective. “Nah, I meant exactly what I said,” he grinned. “I haven’t had a HOME cooked meal since we were together back home. Authentic doesn’t mean good necessarily and also lacks the preparers love and care for me.” He shrugged, adding, “Anyway, looking forward to something different is all. I know your mom will come through with something great.”

“—So, yeah, I’m from Alaska, originally, but for the last eighteen months I’ve just been traveling abroad working on this film, and myself too actually,” he admitted. “Came to town to try and work things out with my ex, like I was telling you the other night at the club, and pretty much that’s it. That’s my story of how I landed here in Wilmington. How bout you? Were you born here or did you come from elsewhere,” he asked, his eyes flicking away from hers a second to doctor up his coffee. The recommended dark roast was a bit too strong for his liking and somehow adding a crapload of sugar to balance out the bitter taste made sense. “Anyhow, I’m glad I ran into you again...after we parted ways last time I realized I forgot to ask where I could see you perform. I can’t remember if you mentioned who you accompany, specifically?”
“What a sweet dog,” Caleigh commented to the male that had walked up behind her. “What’s his name?” The guy could have just been walking by, but the baker assumed since he walked up a few moments after the canine had run up to her with leash hanging freely from it’s collar. She had just been passing through the park, taking a break from being indoors and trying to enjoy the afternoon sun. “Oh, well… never mind,” Caleigh ended up laughing when the dog didn’t seem to recognize the male at all and ran off. “I guess he wasn’t yours.” It was then that she really took notice of the male, and a smile formed on her pouty lips catching view of some of his tattoos. She had a few of her own so she couldn’t help but admire. “Ok, don’t mind me getting too familiar here, but how bad did that hurt across your neck? It looks great, but I can’t imagine that was enjoyable.” ( @caspxrez )
“I can’t be one hundred percent sure but I saw a guy a ways back getting all frantic and calling out for Bruce? Looks like the little guy had his own plans though, huh?” Castillo chuckled as the little mutt scurried away. As much as he appreciated animals, he had never been a fan of having one of his own, mostly due to allergy issues with dander, then there was his schedule. There was just no way he could manage a pet, not your typical dog anyway. “Nah, I don’t mind and yea it hurt like a bitch but I can say it was worth it. This one, in particular, has significant meaning, at least what it represents is meaningful to me,” he said and his hand reflexively went to smooth along the side of his neck. “Thanks for the compliment, have any of your own?” He asked, eyes fixed on her face. He thought she had some very distinct features, ones he’d seen in his native American ancestors but for whatever reason, he thought it an odd thing to question so he kept the thought to himself.
michaelotis:
It was easy to sympathize with the guy, given that Michael wasn’t long ago in his position, and had been there more than once with the same woman. He led the way to the joint they were headed to for a bite and smiled over his shoulder in learning the male was from Alaska. “This woman you been talkin’ about happen to be Rowan Laro?” The retired Marine chuckled. “It’s a bit of a small town. She went to high school with my girlfriend and also my neighbor,” he explained. “As a former military man, I gotta say… helluva woman you’ve got yourself.” It took guts to be in service, even if she hadn’t been military, being a rescue swimmer was an exclusive and dangerous position. “What was this journey you got yourself on?” He could never help his curiosity. “Ah, no… I’m from Long Beach, California originally. Been here almost as long as there though, and I have no plans to go back.” Especially now that he had a baby on the way. “It’s all good, man. I enjoy the convo and comradery.” Which, went back to growing up with three older brothers and having spent nearly two decades in the Corps. He paused in step though and smiled at the question, nodding before answering. “Yeah, I did. What’s meant to be will be, the universe will put you there even if you keep fucking it up yourselves,” Michael chuckled. “I never left Naomi, my girlfriend, alone. I tried, I certainly tried to let her move on and live her life, and even did the same for myself. But… it’s her, you know?” He had a feeling Castillo knew exactly what he meant, and for that, he was happy his friend by association had that kind of person and love in her life.
Castillo’s eyes rounded at the mention of Rowan’s name. Then as the guy explained the association the surprise left his expression. “Yeah, man. That’s her. Talk about small world,” he said, glancing at the other male as they made their way to the establishment. “So, what all have you heard? Let’s start there,” he joked likely, though he was curious to know how much Ro had shared with her friends about their situation. It wasn’t a huge deal in the least if she had discussed their problems, he was just curious about how others might have perceived their struggles. “She’s a real one, no doubt,” he agreed, thinking that was some high praise especially coming from a military man, as he’d pointed out. Castillo knew all about her abilities and first hand too, the praise and recognition well deserved. His gaze went to appraise the male as he continued. “Ahh, Longbeach. Been there a time or few,” he said, surprised about the choice to move to Wilmington over sunny California. “About the journey... really it was kind of a quest to determine the meaning of faith from different perspectives and religions. I ended up trekking through a few different continents to get answers, made it into a film and I think I mentioned before, found out some things about myself along the way. What about you...consider yourself a man of religious faith, or no?” A smile took over Castillo’s features as Michael went on to talk about his renewed relationship, and he couldn’t help but feel inspired by his story. “You’re speaking my language...everything absolutely has its time and place, glad your situation came full circle. Listening to you makes me feel like there’s some hope for mine, honestly...”
beth-dryden:
Beth watched her daughter with curiosity. At four, nearly five years old, she was in a stage of developing more of a personality and each little twist and turn had the young mother fascinated. Especially as Ellie went from shaking the man’s hand, to whining at her mother to pick her up. Reaching down, Beth groaned a little as she picked Ellie up, holding her on her hip as she looked at her little girl. “You’re getting too big for this.” She laughed quietly at the man’s comment, nodding as she looked back at him. “None taken, honestly, it’s pretty much exactly right. She’s pretty cheeky and outgoing a lot of the time and then all of sudden, she just wants momma. That’ll change when she goes to school, I’m sure.” Even though Beth worked at the school her daughter would attend, the idea of her baby being old enough for school terrified her.
“Nice to meet you too, Can, I’m Beth, this is Ellie.” Jiggling her hip a little to try and get her daughter to talk, Beth smiled as her face just nuzzled further into Beth’s hair. “I try and bring her every so often, I used to come here a lot when I was pregnant with her so it’s kind of special to me in a way. Her Grandma looks after her whilst I’m at work and she brings her down once a week to meet me and then we come into town, so we usually end up here.” Nodding again, Beth smiled as, at her insistence, she set her daughter back on the ground. “The donuts are good, although if you come in the morning, the chocolate croissants are to die for. Also, although I can’t eat them anymore because I overate them whilst pregnant, the salted caramel blondies are the best thing I’ve ever eaten, so I’d recommend them.”
“I mean, it’s natural to be wary of strangers. I imagine trying to balance natural instinct and an animated personality is tough work for a kid,” he joked, lightly. "So, it sounds like you live around here then? Me, I usually end up going out of my way to stop by, but it’s always worth it,” he said, resisting the urge to inhale a donut or two right then and there. He did glance over to see if there was any fresh coffee being brewed though. Castillo’s then flickered his gaze toward the redhead at the mention of chocolate croissants, thinking that was one less thing he needed to add to his list of vices but at the same time it sounded too good to resist.”Hmm, now that sounds good too...are we talking like a chocolate filling or just a few swirls on top?” It was ridiculous how invested he was in knowing, no shame in his game though. The man enjoyed his sweets and was authentically vested in the conversation. Cas took a couple of paces to the side as other patrons came in the shop and used the opportunity to order a quick cup of coffee to go. “Can I get you one too for the road? It’s good with cinnamon. Come on, you should try it,” he urged.
weston-taylor:
It was a day filled to the rim with errands that left Weston ready to head on home and kick his shoes off, having been going and going since he clocked off his twenty four hour shift that morning. He never slept too well within the bunks of the fire station, nor did he really have much time for any shut eye with the night they had. Two car accidents, one minor grease fire… it was what the station called hell night. Alas, if he didn’t get right on home and turn on the basketball game, he was tempted to pop open that six pack and bag of corn chips right there. He still had so much to do, and that included contacting Penelope in regards to the letter he received from the school and social services. He had just sat down in the seat of his truck with his leg still draped out the side when a stranger addressed him, almost completely mishearing the male, before the kind hearted nature of Weston prompted him to nod and dig out his iPhone, unlocking the screen. “Well, let’s hope it’s ‘a towed, or else you’ll have one hefty problem on your hands.” He chuckled, handing the device over.
“Yeah, right? Let’s hope that all it is.” Castillo tipped his head at the male as he lumbered a few steps over and retrieved the offered cell phone. Though as he listened through a recorded voice telling him there were twenty-nine callers waiting on hold and someone’s poor taste in elevator music, his gaze landed on the meter where he’d been parked. He noticed that there was still time remaining so he figured it wasn’t likely that his truck had been towed. “What’s interesting is I hadn’t pegged this place to be the crime haven it’s turning out to be,” he commented, musing on the correlation between his missing car and the alleged fire he’d just learned about. Cas let out a chortle laced with irony. “Ya know what, this seems like a waste of time. Rather than hold you up I’m gonna reach out to my girl real quick and see if she’s available. That’s if you don’t mind,” he said, looking to the guy for approval though he had already started dialing the number. Was Ro officially his girl? No, however, the mutual shift toward reconciling they appeared to be embarking upon was good enough reason to consider her such as far as he was concerned. Once he finished leaving the info on Rowan’s voice mail, he handed the other male the borrowed phone as his gaze flickered around the street. “I appreciate it, man. Thanks. I think I should be good from here. Ro should be on the way as soon as she get that message. Hope I didn’t keep you from anything important did I?” Cas glanced at his father’s Swiss army watch and ran a hand over a freshly shaved head as he scanned his surroundings. There were some old guys sitting outside in front of the coffee shop playing chess, shooting the shit back and forth. He figured he could hang out there and wait for Ro, but more importantly, there might have been someone who had been around long enough to see what might have seen what the hell had happened with his truck.
ROWANLARO.
“Last week in January next year, hmm… I think I can swing that with that much notice,” she teased, likely a little too careless over their issues in the past. Rowan wanted to be at a point though where their history wasn’t anything other than the foundation of where they were now in present day. They were on the verge of starting the work of rebuilding, from that foundation up, and the boat captain was looking forward to it and maybe that was the reason she felt lighthearted enough to joke about what was once a problem for them. They learned quite a lot through trial and error, and she was beyond determined to not make the same mistakes. Rowan wasn’t blind to the fact that she had an amazing life partner that never gave up on her or them during all of their tribulations, and even came to her after their distance when she’d felt her entire world shifted once again on it’s axis. “That’s a really big deal though, baby. What’s this film about that you’ll be showing there? Is it something you worked on after I left Kodiak?” He was so passionate, the brunette boat captain loved hearing him speak about his films and adventures. She also was excited at the prospect of getting to join him on more of them. Rowan smoothed her hand back and forth across his shoulders as her bottom lip poked out a little. “I’m okay, I’m happy about some things, and am just just trying to figure out the rest. Being a rescue swimmer was who I thought I was, and all I had seen myself doing professionally. And now, I’m just trying to figure out what to do now. As much as I love my father, my family, and his business, professional fishing isn’t exactly what i see for myself.” She chuckled a bit, it wasn’t bad things, just her being a bit lost in a state of transition. “Of course I’m sure. I mean, you know my mom, she’ll give you some stern looks, but my dad… he’ll be alright. They know you’re here though so I think they’re just trying to get ahead of things, ya know?” Leaning into him, Rowan pressed her lips to Castillo’s and smiled a bit as she pulled back. “Don’t be nervous,” she teased.
“See, that’s what I want to know, I want to know what you see for me.” She gently bumped her shoulder against his affectionately, curiosity and wonder in her gaze as her dark chocolate hues peered into his own. Rowan was always able to get so lost in Castillo’s eyes, aside from his settling touch, she was so comforted by his soul and the way she saw it peering back at her. She fell silent though, giving his words proper thought and consideration, but she was coming up without an answer. All she could do was shrug, shoulders rising and falling knowing he couldn’t make those decisions or give those answers for him. The boat captain appreciated him all the more that he didn’t try, only gave her the constructive advice as a true friend and love would. “I wanna have babies someday, Cas. I’m not sure I could or should continue down a path with the Coast Guard,” the brunette finally said. Rowan turned her chin and kissed the base of his palm as he played with her hair. There on the water, with him and tucked into his side, she felt more at peace than she had in over a year, maybe two. The kiss to her cheek made her smile, and it grew deeper as his words made her chuckle. “I love it when you call me that. We haven’t eaten yet but I suppose we can just take it all back to my place, but you might wanna feed this hungry girl at least a few grapes before we go anywhere. You know how I get when i’m hungry.”
“Sure my darling,” he said, throwing her teasing glance as he reached for the basket and placed it between them. After rubbing some hand sanitizer into his palms, he fixed her a small plate of cheese, different kinds of olives and few slices of spicy pepperoni. “Here you go, thanks to a nice lady I met on the pier named Roksana and the clerk at the deli, I think between the three of us, we did good,” he said and handed her a plate as he popped a kalamon olive into his mouth. “Anyway, I certainly hope so. I want you by my side, win or lose, where you belong,” he said without hesitation, emphatic. A beat of a pause as his dark gaze penetrated her features and he moistened his lips. “Yea, something I’ve been working on for a while actually. Basically, it’s a documentary of...sort of a quest for answers about spirituality and faith. It turned out to be a cathartic experience for me and I learned a lot about myself,” he explained. “I don’t want to bore you talking about it though, you should come to see it first hand.” A subtle smile curved his lips and his thoughts traveled back for what felt like a million years to their old life. As he looked over at her he was feeling a bit smitten over the fact they were finally talking and spending quality time together without any angst attached, only good vibes. The sheer joy he felt might have seemed novel from someone on the outside looking in but there were some nights he felt like being in this place with her again was too far removed. The person you spend every waking moment with suddenly feeling like a stranger had to be the cruelest feeling in the world and it just felt good to be on the path to having her back.
“I just know I don’t like hearing you’re not as happy as you could be or want to be...I have faith in you, you’ll find your way as long as you follow your heart.” Castillo tried to remain as neutral as he could because he genuinely wanted her decision based on what she wanted, what would make her happiest as he said. At the same time, he would be lying if he said he wasn’t feeling intimated by the idea of her considering being apart of the Coast Guard again given the rift caused by her commitment to the job. He didn’t want to kill the vibe bringing that part of the discussion to the table. Instead, he chose to believe their relationship would be considered no matter what path she chose. go Leaning into her as she praised him and caressed his shoulders, he pressed a trio of kisses against her lips. “Okay, I trust you...I’m actually looking forward to seeing them and dinner...I can’t even remember the last time I had an authentic home-cooked meal so yeah..I’m excited,” he said, earnestly.
“What do I see for you? I see you by my side, like I said before, exactly where you belong,” he said and after a brief pause added, “I know you have soul ties to the sea and I doubt you’ll have any semblance of happiness if you’re not doing your coast guard thing so I think you should go for it,” he said at first, keeping his emotions and personal shit out of his reply, fully believing things were meant to work out somehow. Then the tables turned a bit when Rowan confirmed she wanted to start a family and Castillo had to take pause to restructure his response, with care and understanding. “I mean, taking a page from our past, I have to come clean and say as much as I want you to pursue what makes you happy, I don’t think the coast guard is conducive to family life, it certainly didn’t serve us well in the past.” Always a source of such contention for them, this wasn’t the conversation he pictured having. “Look, I know you weren’t expecting me to show up on your doorstep and I don’t expect you to drop everything because I’m here. You have a right to live your life and the last thing I want is for you to throw away an opportunity you really want. But at the same time, I have to ask...if you decide to pursue the job with the coast guard. Where would our relationship fit in? What would starting a family together look like?”
