“I hope so,” Jax said in a rare show of uncertainty. He wanted his dad to be proud of him. Proud of the man he had become and proud of how he had protected his family and their legacy.
“I think it’s her way of being close to dad,” he gave a small grin, “Don’t tell her you know, but the desk and chair she has in her office are dad’s. It was one of her few indulgences as CEO. She made surplus go find them in storage, restore it, and put it back,” Jax said. She said says it’s like she’s sitting in the office with him like when we were little.
He sighed, “Everyone hides in something. At least yours and Lux’s are a little more socially acceptable,” he said. “Just don’t remember to come up and breath. You know you’re always welcome at our house. Even if you come in with a mountain of work. “We’ll set you up with you - wait that’s it,” Jax said his head perking up. “Move-in with us. We’ve got plenty of room. Kon pushes everyone away that he has a choice about. He can’t do that with Lux and I because we live there. Move-in with us. Help us take care of Kon. He’s done such a good job of taking care of us it’s time for us to repay it. I can set you up with anything you need. Name it’s yours,” Jax promised.
“Trust me, as someone who knew your father very well, he would be very proud of the man you’ve grown into.” She looked at him, smiling softly.
“I can completely that.” She mused. Her office at the museum contained many trinkets from her late mother. It helped her feel close to her and it was a way for her to remember her mother everyday.
Cass shook her head at the offer, though smiling as she did. “I wouldn’t want to intrude on you guys. Plus I have my very cozy studio apartment. I appreciate the offer, but I also don’t know if Kon would be to happy with me there.
