FINALLY IM NEVER PLAYING THIS GAME ON ORIGINAL HARDWARE EVER AGAIN
Me, watching hurricanger, patiently waiting for the Gouraiger's to be added to the plot
So Casette Beasts is basically my favourite creature collector and the sequel just got announced
• Original had a Kamen Rider beast
• Sequel's name is a digimon reference
• Got Johny Gioeli from Crush 40 on the OST
Literally there has never been a game that felt more like it was made just for me
So I'm not really liking Gotchard but Fire form is interesting. Like usually speedster forms (Build Hazard RabbitRabbit, Gavv Master, Zeztz Plasma etc) can just go fast, but Gotchard Fire goes fast because he has a jet engine on his back, it's a relatively (very relatively) grounded way of having that power; it has to heat up, in the debut, Hotaro chains himself to the ground, the next appearance, you see him trying to hold himself back from pre-emptively launching and this is really cool.
I choose to believe that this inspired all the Gavv forms having drawbacks, which of course lead to the incredible handling of Over mode as a one-hit kill machine. God I need to rewatch Gavv soon.
What is Nights doing in this show?
Why does this kid's dad from Gotchard look like he has a flatmate who say Bazinga
Pompous Naruto running loser BF and his "i can make him worse" GF
Gotchard, I'm sorry. I wasn't aware of your game.
So we're all in agreement that Code: Somnia will be a device that keeps everyone awake forever as a nightmare countermeasure, and Zeztz has to stop it because dreams (the phenomenon being used as a stand in to refer to ambition in this scenario) are what allows humanity to achieve their unlimited potential or gives them the drive to live their lives or whatever (exact wording may vary), right?
Final Boss of Dragon Warrior really said -_-
So the Zeztz recap episode...
I just finished the recap episode. Yeah, Zeztz is peak, but given how it's fairly high concept I think I lost sight of what it was going for. Baku turning so hard against code when he barely knows what they're doing is so weirdly highlighted when Zero name drops Somnia, but I think the recap episode actually did a good job of putting everything back into perspective.
NOX and 2 just wanting to take revenge on an organisation that wronged them meanwhile they're actively preventing millions of deaths, I'm not saying CODE is good, but NOX's motivations are pretty blatantly flimsy. 2 did a pretty good job of not being found, if anything turning her daughter into a nightmare factory lead to her getting killed and her daughter abducted (but i guess she woke up so mission accomplished (???)). That's it though, they're lashing out and that's (relatively) fair (don't make genocidal climate change monsters).
Meanwhile Baku continues to work alongside CODE whilst doing his best to stick his own principals, i.e. be a Kamen Rider, but loses sight of this with the introduction of Catastrom (I think this is meant to be a metaphor for moral decay i guess? kinda like ACAB? Is that why he destroys his own dream? A rider's nightmare would be having their morals be co-opted by a flawed organisation that is willing to disregard human life?).
So I guess the goal will be to destroy CODE as a flawed organisation and replace them with something with the ideals of Kamen Rider at the core? If this is the point then is introducing Somnia necessary?
Is Kamen Rider Zeztz a dream about Kamen Rider itself?
I've started writing about Zeztz and my opening paragraphs are basically about how Zeztz remixes aspects of previous rider seasons similar to how our brain mixes facial features we've seen to make new faces in our dreams. I've only seen up to episode like 17ish but this is what I've noticed so far:
Of course several nightmares resemble past riders, most notably to me that one nurse's nightmare that looks like a mix of Geats and the Wolf Orphonoch, several returning actors and other minor references.
But there's also:
Return to 2 episode mini-arcs, the investigation angle makes me think of W and Drive in particular.
Roles are given to Baku and Nem in dreams like in Decade, the dreams are an exploration of the subconscious of the civilian of the week ala Wizard.
The paranormal investigation team is made up of the main rider, a guy who's really into it and lady who doesn't quite believe what's going on, like in ghost.
Kids indoctrinated by a dodgy organisation like in Faiz.
Baku lives with his sister and is concerned with employment like Kouta in Gaim, and his main character quirk outside of dreams is that he has bad luck like Den-O.
This could just all be a franchise that's been going for 55 years finding themselves retreading old ground, but considering the theming it feels deliberate yanno?
Rewatching Gaim for the Build up to Easter and I thought I'd like to write a piece about the show, yanno about power and how it's used and how different characters represent that.
Turns out I actually just want to write about Baron because this man's philosophy and pretty much everything he says is just screaming to be analysed.
I took Matt Berry dialogue and put it in cutscenes of E-123 Omega because apparently he's gonna be in Sonic 4 and this is the only character off the top of my head that I'd want him to play.
With Richard Ayoade and Matt Berry apparently being casted in Sonic 4 we have further evidence that someone working on these projects is a HUGE fan of the Mighty Boosh
Would you describe Ex-Aid as a maximalist show? Like yeah the way it presents its video game aesthetic is very Scott Pilgrim-esque, but it's notable how much louder it is and how much longer it sticks on the flashy stuff, the more out there suit designs add to this too.
I suppose this kind of applies to a lot of seasons (think any season where theres over 3 riders henshining at once with all their different suit up animations and sounds overlapping like that one scene in build) but Ex-Aid is the one i think about most in relation to this, I suppose Revice would be up there especially with its jingles and maybe with how many characters it tries to juggle.
Rewatching Kabuto bc I'm thinking of making a video about it and holy shit seeing Tsurugi for the first time again, knowing where it goes...
That house was a ghost house the whole time and I dunno if it was a deliberate choice or a lack of extras budget, but the fact that it's just Tsurugi and Jiiya in there is kinda creepy in retrospect
Walking through a rainy alleyway during my daily commute in tokuland and i keep interrupting protagonists having emotional confrontations.
