Castiel felt a jab of guilt in his chest when Dean sighed and shifted away from him. He hadn’t really thought that it would bother Dean, his habits. Castiel silently wondered if he would actually be able to give them up for Dean. Well, if he did, it wouldn’t be any time soon. “But first, we...
"Yes," Castiel said immediately, to his surprise. "I would like to stay with you and Sam, if you'll allow it," he continued, eyes moving up to meet Dean's own. "I owe you my life, Dean. And you may consider me at your disposal. Anything you need, any time, I will do what it takes to fulfill your needs. " Castiel couldn't help but think that he sounded as if he was offering his body, but even if Dean did want that, he would offer it as well. Hell, he'd happily give that to Dean.
Castiel nodded, and reluctantly let his hand drop back down into his own lap. “I need to go somewhere soon. I’m running low on my um, ‘medical’ supplies,” he muttered quietly. “I just don’t know where to here.”
He sighed hard, wishing that Castiel didn’t do that kind of thing. He really wished he didn’t. Dean nodded, going silent and shifting into the driver’s side door.

Castiel silently wondered if he would actually be able to give them up for Dean. Well, if he did, it wouldn't be any time soon. "But first, we really should find a more permanent roof over our heads," he said with a faint smile, attempting to veer the conversation to a more agreeable topic.
"No, I wanted to be awake when you got back," Castiel replied, scooting closer to Dean by habit. "And, for the first time in my life, I’ve grown accustomed to sleeping with someone in the literal sense, not the figurative one," he continued. "Is it okay if I touch your face?" Castiel asked, slowly moving his hand up to hover next to Dean’s cheek.
He looked back at him, eyes staring straight into his for a moment. Dean paused, taking a deep breath at the idea of someone touching him again. It was… only the face… Dean nodded, “Alright…”
Castiel gave Dean a small smile of gratitude before he gently brushed his hand over Dean’s cheek. He traced his jawline before he simply cupped one of Dean’s cheeks and looked at him. “I was almost worried you wouldn’t come back. Then I realized it was absurd. You wouldn’t leave Sam,” he murmured, gently stroking his thumb over Dean’s cheekbone.
He shook his head slightly, “He’s only fifteen, I’m not going to leave him anywhere.” His eyes looked over his face, wondering if he could leave Castiel either now. But immediately dismissed the idea. “I’ll come back.”

"Well.. just.. just don’t take too long. I don’t want Sam to wake up and wonder where you are," Castiel sighed. "And be safe, alright?"
He nodded, “I’ll be fine.” Dean didn’t look at him and started running. He went around the block, then a mile, then two, then three. It had been a decent…
Castiel hadn’t gone back to sleep, and looked up and gave Dean a tired smile as he arrived. “Hello Dean,” he said softly. “Are you feeling any better? I was concerned for you.”
He shrugged, “I ran a ways, tried to outrun my problems. Figured I better come back before they started to really hunt me down.” He offered him a small smile, “Didn’t sleep either?”

Castiel cocked his head to the side before handing the shirt back to Dean. “Of course. Whatever makes you more comfortable,” he replied. “I just- you were, uh, are, sweating quite a bit.”.
"I’m fine." He whispered and picked up his shirt from the floorboards. Dean got out of the car and took a deep breath, "I’m gonna go take a walk…"
"Well.. just.. just don't take too long. I don't want Sam to wake up and wonder where you are," Castiel sighed. "And be safe, alright?"
Feeling his heart beat more rapidly, Castiel inwardly chastised himself. He smiled despite himself and wrapped his arms tightly around Dean’s chest. Now that he again had the chance, Castiel began counting Dean’s freckles. Only thanks to the moonlight was it possible. Castiel was at 41 when Dean shifted, causing Castiel to lose his place. He sighed and gave up for the night, falling asleep moments later.
He murmured in his sleep and only jerked awake a few times until it hit six in the morning. He swallowed and swallowed again, hating himself and brushing his hands down his face sitting up. Dean breathed out and shivered trying to shut the cries of war in his head.
Castiel stirred as soon as he felt Dean’s warm body next to him begin to tremble. He sat up and pulled Dean into a tight hug, so that Dean’s face was cradled in his neck. “I’m here,” he said quietly. Castiel could feel warm tears sliding down his neck- not that he minded- and Dean’s chest rising and falling as he hyperventilated.
He swallowed softly and gasped, “Okay- I’ll be okay- I’m okay.” Dean whispered to him, trying to calm himself down to not wake Sam. He couldn’t calm down fast enough.
Castiel rubbed Dean’s back soothingly before pressing a soft kiss to Dean’s temple. “I know, Dean,” Castiel replied simply. He frowned when he felt sweat seeping through Dean’s shirt. Castiel tugged the shirt off of Dean before pulling him back into his arms.
He flinched and sighed, “I’m alright.” Dean flinched and shook his head, “Sorry- can- I have my- shirt back- I-“

Castiel was grateful that it was summer, or it would have certainly been too cold to sleep out in a truck. He unbuttoned his white shirt and tossed it up on the dashboard. After covering Sam up with his trench coat, he rested against Dean’s chest and buried his face in Dean’s neck. He might have lightly inhaled Dean’s scent while nuzzling him. “Good night Dean,” he murmured.
Oddly enough, Dean put his arms around Castiel and turned a bit now they were half and half on the front seat, only the steering wheel a barrier to keep Dean from falling off. He wrapped around him as well and nodded, tired- though it never seemed like he wasn’t anymore- before muttering, “Night Cas.”

Castiel winced at Dean’s immediate reaction. “Sorry. I forgot,” he said quietly. He cleared his throat before searching out the window for somewhere for the three of them to park and sleep for the night.
Dean dutifully laid down once they had parked and raised his eyebrows at Castiel. He was certainly getting more comfortable with the man.

"No," Castiel replied a little too quickly. "You’re comfortable enough," he added, smirking at Dean, though it accidentally came out as more of a warm smile.
The smile brought out a brief chuckle and he shook his head. Dean shrugged, “You’re not so bad yourself.”
Castiel ducked his head down to hide the faint blush that spread across his cheeks. “If I didn’t know better, I’d think that was a compliment, Dean Winchester,” he joked.
"If you knew any better, you’d know that it was." He told him back, still driving and shifting to pop his back.
Castiel flushed deeper and nervously chewed on his bottom lip. “Nah, you’re just being nice,” he replied, chuckling lightly. In the life Castiel had thus far lived, he hadn’t been given many compliments, save being a good lay maybe.
"Take it or leave it. Not gonna take it back." Dean told him with a nod. Of all the things Dean was- stubborn was a large one.
Castiel smiled to himself and slowly turned the radio up, leaving it on some acoustic-y song he’d never heard before. It was nice. The music fit the moment. Several hours of driving, one stop at a gas station and two stops for food later, Castiel reached over and set his hand on Dean’s knee. “It’s getting late. We should stop somewhere,” he said softly, gesturing back to Sam, who had been asleep for around half an hour.
He jerked involuntarily and settled nodding, “Yeah that would be the best idea.”
