I think it’s not only the calendar fiasco tbh. Misha has shaded the show lots of times in the past for the lack of Castiel or for how little dialogue he has. I’m always going to remember the “You have trouble finding a script with Castiel in it?” that he told Jensen at one of the Jibcons…

But the majority of fans like to buy the “oh Misha doesn’t want to do more eps” or “Misha doesn’t care about those things” that positivity police successfully sold the last couple of years. 

Misha has always been like this, I joked that he is a bitter Cas stan, but I think there’s also truth in it. I don’t think that you can portrayed a character for so many years without getting protective about it. 

I think that tptb and pr restrained Misha a little bit. Don’t forget when he tried to talk about the misogyny in spn and he got shut down for it. Tptb often treat Misha like shit, the story of Vicki having West and still tptb wanted him to work comes to mind for example, or how blatantly they ignored Misha asking to be part of the 200th episode. 

Also he sometimes likes to play the dork dad, but he knows TOTALLY what happens online, he knows about the destiel Hot Topic T-shirt mess, he knows that people often call for him in promos and talk shows, he knows that Alex was brought in as some sort of replacement… he has “joked” about it. I think fandom often gets confused by Misha and his “humor” and don’t see that behind it there are hints of truth…

I also think that he is tired af of all this like you said, and sometimes the old Misha, the one that was not restricted by pr or tptb, comes back, like in this case. And imho, it’s wonderful… I miss that Misha…

You know, I keep thinking how all this Cas&Misha vs Jack&Alex thing is a perfect example of life imitates art/ art imitates life? I follow season 14 only through my dash but it looks like Cas is made to watch Jack going through all the things Cas went though, except Cas never had such support and love from his friends. On top of that, Cas has to actively support Jack as well. S13 went all the way out to show in plain text to Cas that Dean and Sam did nothing to bring him back from dead, that they didn’t notice he was kidnapped and they were talking to impostor. Cas was left alone when Dean without thinking rushed to save Sam and Jack. We still have not seen Cas in his bunker room if he indeed has one. Jack has had more pep talks with main characters than Cas in all his 100 episodes. In s10 Cas was dying from sick grace all alone, kicked out of bunker, again. Then he went looking for his grace alone. In s9 Human Cas spent maybe an hour in the bunker and was invited back only when he was useful. Jack on the contrary has help and support on every step. 

And now compare it with Misha on the show. He was invited back in s8, but had to wait until s10 to get series regular status back. At that point Misha has played Cas for 6 seasons. And he still was not included in the 200th episode that was called a love ;letter to fans. Compare it to Alex being promoted to series regular in s13 after his little scene in s12 finale. I mean, Misha is there on the set. He has to deal with this every day. Jack is stealing all Cas story lines (and clothes),  and suddenly those stories are worth telling on screen. Like, here’s the answer why so many fans like Jack - he has a lot of onscreen time, including plenty of scenes with Sam and Dean. Sam and Dean worry about Jack, and so do viewers. Meanwhile Cas is being sent away or just plain missing, half of his screen time is with other secondary characters. And Sam and Dean don’t worry about him, because, lol, Cas is always fine! I think a lot of fans forget that TV writers have many ways to make audience to love or hate a character. And SPN writers are professionals, they now exactly what they’re doing.

And this is only the surface, the public side of things. How much we don’t see or get just a glimpse like with all those times when Misha was not in promos/ PR photos. We don’t know what TPTB are telling him. Misha mentioned in his M&G during Jibcon 2018 that there were several weeks after he got 12x23 scipt when he didn’t know if he’s coming back in s13. We don’t know if he got reprimanded for that. Now he’s talking about how he “loves” to have less work. Right. Because any actor who works in industry is always honest and open about their problems with TPTB. This reminds me that time when after Cas came back in s7, an interviewer asked Misha what he thinks about Sera Gamble. Misha laughed, he said along the lines - what do you expect me to say? Of course I love Sera! Like, honestly, what do you expect Misha to say now, after seeing how much attention is given to a bland new character? This show didn’t even remember Cas’ 100th episode anniversary. At best, there’s one Cas centric episode per season. At best.

You see, there are some deep trues here, that all of you need to know. If this place is going to be sanitized from the awful naked human form. At least let the real facts prevail. I been dancing the “Don’t be negative" dance because I DON’T WANT DA POLICE come after me. But some facts are just evident and real, and have a difference between being simple labeled as bitter or negative

I don’t need to elaborate more about what the perfectly coherent Blogers above, had described about facts we know happen and are true among the fandom and CONS. Personally, I take this clip of JAXCON from yesterday, that can corroborate how difficult is for Misha to play along with TPTB while not ruining the fandom experience, because he knows that all of this messy business between the Network/Show-runners/The ones that decided for 2 consecutive years to shoot the YEARLY CAST & CREW PICTURE without him anyways, is really between them and him. So he tries not to be bitter.

This episode perfectly summed up why I just can’t love Jack, even though he’s a pretty likable character.

It’s the way he was resurrected when so many other “family members” like Ellen and Jo, Bobby, Kevin, Charlie, even Eileen and Crowley apparently weren’t even worth an effort to try. It’s how he has been given several scenes of grieving and mourning, when with other characters, Winchesters moved on pretty quickly.

It’s the way Cas’ sacrifice of happiness and life perfectly showed just how much worse he’s been ever since Jack was conceived. The way Jack mind controlled Cas, which was quickly and conveniently forgotten, and the way Cas betrayed Dean and Sam because of/for Jack just before that. The way Jack’s been overshadowing Cas and his relationship with Winchesters since 13x06. The way Jack had a more important role and more character development, if not more screen time, than Cas in S13 (although even Rowena had more development and a greater role than Cas in S13). The way Jack is handled with more respect and love than the character who has been in the show for 10 years and is one of the main reasons the show is at its 14th season.

It’s the way Jack is so goddamn perfect and faultless, he makes me grit my teeth during almost every scene he’s in.

It’s all of that.

I fail to see the logic of some Cas stans that don’t want canon destiel now because then Cas will die... (in the slim chance that Cas being truly happy is related to canon destiel, because let’s be realistic they will probably invent something else that will make no lick of sense rather than canonize destiel) like you prefer your favorite to be completely miserable for the rest of his life as long as he will live forever rather than let him have a true moment of happiness.

Is that what you really want for someone you claim to love?

(But then again these are the same people that also were gushing over cas sacrificing himself for the nougat asshole, like you’re ok with cas sacrificing himself for your new favorite but god forbids him dying for finding true happiness and love for himself)

Spn writers being gross and going out of their way to show their bias by using every character to abuse dean and make him feel like he is worthless and a horrible human being and that he should die because he doesn’t matter despite always sacrificing himself for others. Meanwhile everyone is just there to be Sam’s cheerleaders or plot devices to boost Supersam.
