It's GONE!! I shaved my hair off and I want you to know why. For a few years now whenever anyone has complimented me on whatever hair style I had at the time (and there have been many) I have always said "One day I'm gong to shave it all off". When people asked me why, my answer was always the same: "Imagine a life where you can wake up, hair's done. You can go shower, get out, hair's done. It must be so liberating not to worry about fixing your hair!" However I've never done it because I always felt that as a women you're supposed to have hair, and it's supposed to look healthy and shiny and gorgeous. Now ladies we ALL KNOW how many hours of our lives we have used up getting our hair right, and most of the time it's not even for ourselves, most of the time it's so we look presentable (for others). Hair in general stands in the way of so many beautiful moments. Everything from a spontaneous jump in the lake, driving with the top down, a spontaneous water fight, or even more simple stuff like getting sweaty running around and playing or going to the gym. There are actual statistics that young girls will not participate fully in sports in school, because they're concerned about how it might make their hair look, and I as a grown woman can't pretend it's just a young girl problem. I want to know what it feels like to live, fully, without hair being an obstacle. But if freedom and liberation weren't enough of a reason already, here is my main reason: I never shaved my hair off, even though I really wanted to, because I was scared it would make me less of a woman. So this is me, embracing all of me, every part of me, celebrating my femininity in whichever form I choose it to be. This is me making a promise to myself not to compromise the woman inside of me, because she knew a long time ago who she wanted to be. So this is me promising that I will listen.
