“Ugh. I hate hearing my voice.” You winced as the recording on the laptop continued to play back. “Why does it have to sound like that?”
“I KNOW why!” You sighed. “I just wish…you know, what I mean.”
“I do, I do.” I moved closer to you and reached my arm around your shoulders. “I think your voice sounds fine.”
“Yeah but I don’t.” You pouted.
“We have ways of fixing that.” I hugged you closer.
“Well, I bet hypnosis could help solve…” You rolled your eyes.
“Everything with you ends in that! It’s so cliché!”
“…Is that a problem?” I shifted ever so slightly, removing my arm from you and keeping it by my side.
“Wha– N-No, that’s not what I meant, I…” You grabbed my arm and positioned it back over your shoulders. “I mean…” You looked up at me with the cutest eyes.
“Thought you’d never ask. I love when you’re honest about it.” I grinned as you play punched my shoulder. I hugged you closer and began to whisper in your ear.
“Then start feeling like you’re drifting, start feeling like you’re falling, deep, deeper, deeeep into a trance…and of course you’re more used to words resounding from inside your head, and that’s your voice that you’re used to, but feel my words starting to resound inside your head instead…Going deeper…and deeper…So that when you speak, you hear my words inside your head instead, and they say…”
“That’s good, you’re doing so well.” I brushed your hair away from your perfect, closed eyes, and began to fiddle with the laptop. “And now when you hear your voice saying that out loud, you hear your own voice inside your head, and it only makes you feel better…so much deeper, so much better, sooo good…”
“…Mmmnn…” You slowly pushed yourself off of the couch cushions, dazed and confused. “Did I fall asleep on you?”
“Nope!” I turned from the laptop to face you. “But I did get a recording of you that I think you’ll like.” I pressed play.
“Deeper…deeper…” Your voice began to play from the laptop. Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion, then widened in realization.
“And when you hear your voice saying that out loud…” I started.
“It feels soooo…good…” You slumped back into the couch, eyes starting to glaze over.
“Deeper…deeper…” And you continued on much longer after that, after the recording ended. Deeper, and deeper, and deeper, and gone.
