‘No, thanks. I’m not a huge fan of hugs,’ Danielle begun to protest in an almost desperate manner but it was too late. The other woman had zoned in on her. Hands came up in surrender, leaning back as much as possible to avoid the embrace and she groaned. Dani didn’t like physical contact. Not unless she initiated it first, that is. Not unless she trusted the person behind the hug. There were people she felt comfortable around and there were people she didn’t feel comfortable around, and Candice certainly fell into the latter right now. There were few people who didn’t to be fair. ‘Please stop touching me.’

It was almost instantaneous that her arms unwound from the young contestant’s shoulders, and she took a step back, an almost offended expression played on her features. Candice couldn’t quite recall if either of them had had a falling out, or if her time spent with Big Brother had been completely imagined from her current interaction with Danielle – anyone could have mistaken Candice for having given the young woman hell, had they walked in at that very moment. Attempting to play it off, she smiled, ‘You are so much more fun when there is champagne involved.’

“He wasn’t just my husband… he was my best friend. The closest person in my life. I-I can’t just throw it away. If I give up that means I wasted ten years of my life…” She spoke as she quickly wiped a quick tear away from her eyes and put one a small smile. “We should talk about something happy.”

Candice had her own thoughts on the situation, but she knew it wasn’t her place, and she wasn’t going to pretend that it was. With a tight expression, she quickly unclenched, and shrugged, ‘No more husband talk. What else is goin’ on with you?’

Shaking her head, Danneel ran a hand over her face and closed her eyes ever so lightly. “Yeah well I don’t either… I mean he cheats so many times and the minute I say I want to just start over with him he-he I don’t know anymore…” She opened her eyes and looked over at her friend. “I’m sorry I’m kind of bugging down the mood…”

‘No, don’t be sorry. I’m just –’ Lifting her shoulders, she bobbed her head from side to side, with a small smile, ‘I’m a little confused, that’s all. I get that you love him and you have children with him, but I couldn’t do it – be with someone who cheated on me. You must really want this to work.’

‘Wow. That’s a pretty high compliment. Halloween was alright. There was an event going on at the time I showed up. I think half of the people I got to know here were in costume when we first met. Kind of weird.’

‘That’s the best way to meet people. When people have masks or costumes on, they’re the most authentic versions of themselves – they’re not pretending to be some fake version of themselves. They can let the fuck loose for one lone night.’

‘I wasn’t prepared to hear that, and now the only imagery that I’m capable of summoning up in my mind is what may or may not be going on in this house as well. It’s a terrifying thought. Which breed of animal is your pet?’

‘Let’s be real, boo-boo – there’s probably mad shit that’s going on around here, and we’re in the thick of it. It’s not a great thought, but it’s a realistic one. Zoë’s a dog. A maltipoo, to be exact.’

She is just saying were ‘cool’ or that were ‘friends’ but that isn’t true..” He sighed and shook his head as he leaned against the bar. “I’m trying Candice…” Speaking he shook his head yet again then nodding his head. “Okay I can do that!” Chuckling he grabbed the cherries and the rest of the ingredients.

‘I don’t get it, Jar. You care about her, right? You obviously want some kinda thing to happen between the two of you. Seems counter-productive to let this be bigger than it is, when you could make some grand gesture in win back her favor,’ she held up a hand, immediately making fun of herself, ‘Yeah, I’m using ‘grand gesture’ and ‘favor’ now – I watched too many royal romance movies while I was away.’ Crossing a leg over the other, she gently bit her bottom lip, and shrugged, ‘Try harder.’

Chuckling at her need to figure out who the girl was, Jared started to make his way to the bar with the girl. “Trust me I screwed things up… She doesn’t trust easily and even if we didn’t put a label on it, she walked on me fucking someone else. I’m pretty sure I ruined it. Now come on… what do you want to drink? I’ll make ya anything.”

‘Then man the fuck up, and do something about it. You break something, you try and fix it – that’s what people do. We make mistakes, but we try to be better.’ Her voice was urging, holding resounding pulls of encouragement. She nudged him with her hip, ‘Please don’t let a good thing get away, because you couldn’t be damned to fix some shit you may or may not have broke.’ Candice moved to sit down across from him, directly in front of the bar. Arms resting against the marble top, ‘Alright, make me a Tequila Sunrise, and don’t forget the cherry.’

‘And their moms? I don’t know if I’m worthy. No, I haven’t been here too long. I think I got in around Halloween.’

‘You’re more worthy than some, that’s for damn sure. I’d rather my mama thirsting after you than some of the other fake-ass man-traps out there. Ooh, how was Halloween with Big Brother? More treating, less tricking, if y’know what I mean.’

‘Twice? Now I’m even more intrigued than I was before as to your past history here. I believe my fascination really lies in how this place was before. I would have no pet to bring if Big did allow it, but I suppose I might enjoy the company of everyone else’s. Granted they were friendly.’

‘I couldn’t tell you anything you probably already didn’t know – I’m pretty sure that every surface in the last place had to be sanitized as much as humanly possible, because holy hell, the stories I heard ‘bout the shit that would go down there. Pets are as friendly to you as you are to them. Don’t across as any kinda threat and you’ll keep your eyes.’

‘It must have been quite relaxing to take a break for a bit. I feel as though I’ve grown accustomed to this place, and I’m not certain how I truly feel about that. It’s lovely to have you here, every new face is a nice breath of fresh air. It’s a shame that Zoë couldn’t come with you. Cuddling is quite therapuetic.’

‘I’ve been in and out of this place, twice, and I have no clue why they thought giving it a third go was any sorta idea. If Big let everyone bring their pets in, this place would be overrun with furry little animals and I’d never want to leave. It’d my actual heaven, so I get it, but I also kinda wished that he’d let up.’
