holiday !!!!
with all of his time in this new form, he hasn’t quite internalised the idea of holidays -- not out of a lack of knowledge, but a lack of apparent logic to them for him.
the 31st of october passes and he sees grinning children, exuberant in their joy from a simple gift of a costume and candy. it intrigues him as much as it confuses him; the observed age limit, the range of disguises and decorations, the habit of travelling accommodation to accommodation. the risks are brushed aside in the face of sugar, it seems.
still, the idea of it lingers with him, and the next day he buys a packet of candy of his own. it hits him too late that, of course, the holiday lasts one day only, and he’s left with a completely useless bag of sweetened jelly.
he runs into jungeun, though--
yifan thinks he knows jungeun. more than that he has acquainted himself with her, more than the times he had seen her with sunshine hair and a fraud of an identity. when he looks at her, yifan sees something that had come to him much, much longer ago; the inexplicable fire that had struck in him as he looked over the world, crumbling and ruined. with these feelings, he considers her an old friend.
-- and while she’s quite a bit older than the majority of the kids he’d observed that night, the memories of their delight remain in his mind. without thinking he approaches her, offering her a cordial greeting followed by the bag. “uh. flick or tweet?”
