Basilica Minore Del Sto. Nino
.
Basilica Minore Del Sto. Nino is Cebu's oldest church. My family used it to attend the main cathedral when I was little. A historical church, it is still one of the city's best-looking churches, and its guardians do a great job of maintaining it. Tens of thousands of devotees congregate in the ancient church to celebrate the Annual Sto. Nino Festival. And I was one of them, celebrating the festival in this church makes me feel as if I'm one of the reason why this church is history.
It was claimed that for than 40 years after their christening, Ferdinand Magellan handed it to Queen Juana, the wife of Rajah Humabon, as a symbol of their loyalty. A burned-out wooden box that Magellan had left behind was where the statue was found. It is regarded as the country's earliest church, having been constructed in 1525.
