Day 1 - Ortho
Got to assist Dr. Bundoc for a cervical spine surgery (Anterior C4 Vertebrectomy, Anterior Column Reconstruction C5-C6, Interbody Discectomy and Fusion, Anterior Cervical Plating)!!! <3 It was SOO COOOOLL <3 Pinaka-idol spine surgeon ever since LU1!
Met buddy Ria today and she gave me a very pretty necklace as grad gift T_T waah my heart is fuuulll!
Also got to have 7 patients today as SIC :) Super upgrade na po tayo ;)
Day 2 - Ortho
Very chill day! Trauma Lecture was done quickly in the morning. Lotsa time to do SIC work. Pharma con in the afternoon (protected time) got cancelled so extra time again! :D
Also tried to do good SIC notes :) went to interview 3/7 patients. 4 of my patients were at the OR so I didn’t see them today :’) I’m so happy that my 5-year old Osteogenesis Imperfecta patient is talking to me huhu he’s so kind and cheerful!! Kahit na he was crying every time I asked to get his blood extracted (which btw never did happen kasi ayaw niya talaga hahahuhu).
In general, it was a pretty good day :)

Cooked instant noodles for breakfast before I head out again to check out the other local markets. As I was waiting at the bus station for the bus, I noticed that they have an online bus information system screen set up. It had the bus number displayed as well as the number of minutes and kilometers away it is from the bus station. So cool!!!!
I was able to go to Binh Tay safely that afternoon. I bought groceries for my one-month stay in Vietnam. Was able to save a lot thanks to that.

Went around district 1 after I slept and dropped my bags at the hostel. Went to Ben Thanh market to check out the local products and ate at Journey’s Sandwich Resto after while waiting for the night market. Went home right after via grab.
The sandwich was pretty good but it was too large for me. I took home half because I wasn’t able to finish it. The price was pretty high as compared to the local Vietnamese food. Didn’t go back to this store ever after haha
*personal rant*
I just checked my LU5 grades sa SAIS and I found out that the course with the highest grade I got is the same one I repeated sa OSCE? anweq??

First day in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I think I already posted a similar set of pictures a few days back haha but ohwell. It’s good reminiscing this day again.
I was surprisingly calm all throughout the travel. I was level headed and not sleepy. I was able to decide where to go and what to do next quickly despite this being my first time outside of the country - ALONE.
Super thankful to the years of practice and training c/o my dad who made me travel alone as early as pre-primary school. He made me walk to school and back in kindergarten; ride the multicab (province version of the jeepney) in elementary; ride fast sea crafts and carriers in high school; ride planes in college all by myself. They were all great training in travelling alone :)
I had plenty of time in the airport while waiting for the airport bus to arrive so I studied Vietnam’s public transportation system. Looking back, it was probably one of the best few first things I did! I was able to save a super lot because I rode buses as early as my first day.
As comparison: If I rode grab bikes (the most common form of transportation in Vietnam for point-to-point travels) from my hostel to the hospital and back everyday, it would cost me around 48,000 VND. But since I rode the bus, it only cost me 12,000 VND at most.
I really thank my dad for the brave genes I got from him (jk). I am not afraid of riding motorbikes because I always ride our family’s motorbike with him. I am not afraid of travelling alone because of the early training (mentioned earlier). And I am not afraid of taking risks because I am his daughter :)
