LUCREZIA BORGIA The Borgias — 2.10
was it a blessing or a curse , her skill of observation ? to detect true sentiments veiled behind exemplary chivalric manners ; was it the aura he desperately sought to hide , or the way his smile didn't quite meet his eye ? hatred was her steadfast companion in life , whether that be for the dynasty from which she hailed or the general unpalatable traits of her persona – it was all irrelevant really . nevertheless , the dornish lord was playing nice and so she would reciprocate , for the time being anyway . ❛ i am sure you sell yourself short , lord – forgive me , you name eludes ... if we have met before then my sincerest apologies , one handsome face seems to blend into another . ❜ hubris was the demon of many targaryen , yet at least rhaenys was not so self - conceited that she could not see why they were not universally beloved , even if she shared in the belief that they should be.
dislike is , perhaps , unjustified . at least in the broad sense , castamere-born lady had done nothing wrong . but pride and principal were things he did not push away so easily . perhaps that's why her sister irked him so , pride replacing desire to reach out a hand to that benevolent femme and . . . it was a split second , thoughts moved from mind . " my apologies , my lady , " he places hand over his heart , bowing respectfully . " ser sebaston dayne . forgive me for not initially introducing myself before speaking with you , my mother would surely scold me for the fault in my manners , " a small smile . " lady tarth , am i right ? "
[...] Sight of valyrian tresses from the corner of his vision rankled all his senses stiff, and his grip around the bronze goblets is the only object in hand to feel the cold iron resolve squeeze down as though in defense. But she was smaller than her sister, and perhaps, more agreeable: a moment's silence before he remembers to mask the ( * disappointment? annoyance? haunted? either way, he was icy cold to such a charming picture. ) " A moment's reprieve, my lady ? " he starts up, practice laughter as he leans his weight onto his other leg; as though Prince Dantae had done more damage than what he actually did at the tourney. " I'm not so young anymore as to take my chances on dance when I'm as clumsy as a bear with two left feet, and, well, the maesters have warned caution. "
bambi-like eyes , a practiced fluttered lash -- how she hates it and relishes it all at once . a look of disappointment and concern crosses angelic features . " oh dear , " valyrian lady says with soft voice , looking at the man with feigned interest . " how unfortunate , but i certainly understand . perhaps we should find a place for you to sit and rest yourself ? " in another life she may have been a player , dazzling others upon a stage with perfected image , but here she is merely playing a part of her own creation .
lucretia watches fraternal figure stand as goliath among the crowds - more lion than man - as he prowls through before halting near her side. “ gysella seemed quite well, last I saw her just moments ago. ” lucretia dares to contest, merlot-coloured lips barely concealing the smile that dares to peak through. “ but I'll not say no to another. ”
he was sure if he looked hard enough he may yet spot wife among the crowd , but perhaps some space would be good . overprotectiveness had welled up since her injury , lion seeking to protect it's pride . " that's wonderful to hear , sister - " he holds out chalice for her to take . " i hope you are quite well also , and that you've been able to dance with at least some on your card . and that they've all been respectful . "

"Would you play along, if I say my leg still has not healed enough for a night full of dancing?" Dark eyes meet her husbands, mouth twisting into a half smile as she runs fingers over the dance card. Her voice was low, words intended only for the two of them, though a quick glance had her almost certain everyone was too invested in their own cards to be paying much attention to her. She was grateful for their first dance, to not have to dive headfirst into finding those names from her card, but to spend the entire night on the floor was a tiring concept indeed, without the relief of breaks with those she found easier to converse with. To stretch the truth and build in some of those breaks could be the difference between a pleasant conversation and a sharp tongue, as the night drew on, even if having to play on a weakness did go against her very essence. "It would spare feelings, I am sure."
eyes like sparkling jewels meet her's . concern for her was genuine , eyebrows furrowing at mention of her leg . truthfully it calmed the lion's nerves , which so seldom appear . one could not say lord of the rock did not care for his wife . " if it is what you wish , " he said , incline of his head as he reached out and gently took the hand that fiddled with dance card , bringing it to his lips for a kiss before placing it on his arm . caspian looked down at her , a feat given their difference in height . " here , you may use me for support , " hand came to rest over her's . " and it will leave a reprieve for both of us . perhaps we should take a stroll outside , some air would do us both well . "

porcelain fingers twirl dance card placed upon slender wrist while amethyst eyes search for an escape. the kind dragon struggled to keep herself alive within the containment of the ballroom, wanting nothing more than to curl up in her own bedsheets and drown instead of being here. however, there was little time for peace as he stepped forward. few could make her smile disappear, but he did. he sparked something within while ripping her kindness away. he turned her into something she didn't want to be and yet she could not remove her eyes away as ser sebaston dayne walked into her view.
he is always so careful with words , displays and emotions . keeping dislike for the valyrian spawn mostly to himself , not letting others especially them know true feelings . but maesella was ... different . something about her irked him in a way that he couldn't hide emotions around her , nor could he help how his eyes often followed her when she left him --- in a huff , on most occasions . he doesn't know how he found himself moving toward her , but he does . face devoid of expression . " mae -- lady maesella , " he says , voice dripping with an emotion that was too jumbled to make out . pronounced and false curtesy . " you look . . . . this evening . " intentionally leaves out compliment .
harrion spared a glance to the targaryen that had disturbed his peace seated at a table, further away from the dancing yet he could watch his family with ease. ❝ not particularly, no. i thank you for the offer. ❞ for his sister he would get up and brave the crowd of people on the dance floor once she felt fit to want to dance after her own with the victor of the joust, perhaps one of his cousins with enough of a bribe, but definitely not one of the spawns of the winged beasts. the tyrells may have decorated well and offered an ambiance of lightheartedness yet he remained unmoved.
her pride and ego are too big to be wounded by the denial , she is not dumb . dislike for targaryens runs deep , has for years , and she was sure it had only worsened with the recent attack . but mask would not slip , eyes remaining wide and bright -- face a perfect display of earnest innocence . " oh well , that's a shame but i understand my lord , " she lets her expression become sheepish , almost disappointed . a careful act from castamere dragon . " then do you mind if i sit there and rest with a drink ? " she motions to a seat at the table , not directly next , carefully chosen one that is two away from the lord .

open starter for event : accepting replies , 3/4 ( if on dance card does not count ) .
imposing figure stands out among crowd , lord of the rock used to such attention . he , adorned in dazzling emerald and gold -- colors more akin to the tyrells who hosted this grand affair but that fit him none the less ( for how dazzling did his emerald eyes look , even more so than usual ) . he needed excuse to avoid dance , to stay away from prying mama's who sought alliance through one remaining sibling . with two glasses of wine he moves , finding a space with little occupancy - save for a few . moments pass , he makes a subtle show of looking before turning to near person . " my wife seems to have gone off after saying how parched she was , " lie slips from lips so easily . " would you care to have this drink with me in her stead ? "
𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫 ; ⟳ 𝙰𝙲𝚃 𝙸𝙸𝙸 ; accepting .
❛ i do not believe you are upon my dance card , my liege . ❜ the dragonesses head cants , moon - bathed curls cascading over an equally luminous shoulder . ❛ pity . ❜ slender , ring - adorned fingers curl around two glasses as a server passes , one extended towards company . ❛ at least we can share a drink . ❜
a sham of a smile graces the face of the dornish knight at the lady's comment . she reeked of dragon blood , for lack of a better term . he cared not for winged lizards or those who rode upon them . it is gone as quickly as it came , fingers taking the glass with a bow of his head . displeasure at those of old valyria was not enough to get rid of gentlemanly manners . " a pity indeed , my lady . though i believe the gods favor you , for they have saved yourself the displeasure of having a rhythm-less partner such as i for the evening , " it was not untrue , dance was never his forte .
