A Bittersweet (temporary) Departure.

I regret to inform my dearest followers that the end has come, for now.

Recently, Alceste confronted me about his feelings, and many letters I had previously wrote came back to bite me, making the situation quite unpleasant. There was a race for a word of my love, a proposal, and a terrible rejection. Unfortunately, the outcome of this tragic situation is that Alceste has decided to depart from me. I would not move away from the city, and he took great offense to it. Who knew?

Because Alceste has left, I've decided to avoid social media for a while. Don't worry, I'll continue to socialize, but with my nearest and dearest friends. Socialization is the Célimène way, after all.

Although things may seem most tragic, I am happy to announce that my my dear cousin Eliante is married! To Phillante! I knew all along that they'd make a fine couple!

So, I bid you all adieu, and I will always continue to send my love. Keep me in your hearts, mes amours.

Feeling Lonely and Led On

celimeneatthecenter, I wish you would decide who you fancy, your suitors are becoming restless. I would love to be with you, and you should want to be with me, but the heartbreak of being left is less than being led on. Please help us, and maybe alceste-no-jest and I might find some peace. We even agreed one of us will “yield her to [the other] there and then” (Act 5 line 135).

This inquisition's gone too far! How utterly unreasonable you are. I know perfectly well who I am most fond of, but I wouldn't so cruelly reveal it to all. How brutal that would be to others who weren't fortunate enough to receive my affections. I am a lady of compassion. 

Off topic, but did you receive my letter? You must know I hold your sonnet in high esteem. It was the crème de la crème! Magnifique!

My lovely cousin Celimene! Why it has been too long since we've gone shopping. I saw on your Facebook that you've purchased a new dress. I must say, it is one of the most extravagant and beautiful dresses I've ever seen. Recently, there has been a certain someone on my mind. I've been wanting to impress him and a random idea just occurred to me when I saw you so dazzling in your new dress that maybe a dress is what I need. Would you be so kind to go shopping with me this Sunday? Toodles!

Of course I’d be willing to shop! Is asking even necessary? 

However, I am quite troubled that you shop with the motive of impressing Alceste (yes, we all know). Shopping is a spiritual, enlightening experience that should not be taken lightly. If we were to purchase new dresses, we should do so to meet others. I’ll arrange plans to go to Le Diane afterwards. I did invite Alceste, but as of now, I am unaware of his feelings toward the outing. He is very cross with me. A good alternative would be Philante ;) I know he’d be most wiling to pay the bill.

"I know full well which one of you I favor"! What a jest, yet you did not waiver! Your seemingly only job is to break a man's heart. However of your treachery, I will not play a part.

Yes, make your just complaint. I’ve wronged you, I confess it; and in my shame I’ll make no effort to escape the blame. But honestly, did you really not expect it? Of course I would continue to be kind to you. Such manners come to well-bred ladies as a second nature. But alas, I am also attractive and young. It was inevitable that other men would welcome me with open arms. They proved to be quite charming. 

On the other hand…If you are still willing, we could still go to the cinema or that new place, Le Diane. I hear their dessert is marvelous. But the choice is in your hands. Whatever contents you.

However, I am leaning towards Le Diane.

Acaste sent me this song along with a kind word."I see your charms and graces which are many, but as for faults, I've never noticed any". Acaste sure knows me well. I absolutely adore the classics. Coincidentally, Clitandre also sent me the same song with an even kinder word.

Although I always appreciate such kind gestures, I question their motives in sending me a song with such intimate lyrics. It's almost as if they compete for my affection! As amusing as the thought is, it wouldn't be the first time I've been pursued. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if my suspicions became confirmed.

Eliante has once said "Love, as a rule, affects men otherwise, and lovers rarely love to criticize...the plain one, with her dress in disarray, they classify as a beauté négligée". I don't argue with Eliante, but rather, I question such men and their ladies.

What do I attempt to convey? Ladies, always reach your full potential. Dress your best, live your best, do your best. After all, a lady with ugly shoes can't walk to beautiful places. Arsinoe, that means you- and I say so in the most friendliest manner. It has absolutely nothing to do with those brown shoes you wore the other day that you claimed to be "practical".

I'm not quite sure why this has to even be studied. It has always been quite apparent to me that gossip has physical and spiritual benefits.

I'd even go so far to say that gossip keeps me sane. Plenty have inquired about my composed, collected disposition. I always tell them there are two solutions- you can cry like a small child, or you can do things the adult way, and GOSSIP. Of course, gossip has received quite a negative status in recent years, but as I also always say: out of ear, out of mind.

As a woman who believes appearances are key and to be cherished while one still possesses them, I can relate. If your hair is on point, your life is on point. The same can be said about eyeliner, lipstick, et cetera. 

However seriously I may take this picture in application to my own life, I couldn't help but have a laughing fit at how closely this picture resembles my friend Clitandre. Hahahahahah! I once recall Alceste becoming quite jealous of the man. He asked me if I liked him for his blonde wig he chooses to affect, his embroidered hose, his ribbons, his bows- implying Clitandre's obsession with himself.  I have now just realized how true Alceste was, as I never quite gave him a straight answer regarding Clitandre's vanity. 

Oh Clitandre, I absolutely adore the man and his ability to get all dolled up! he posesses this sense of style one could never replicate. I might even admit to borrowing his ribbons and his bows. hehe. ;) Clitandre is très chic!

What happy chance has brought you here? I've thought about you ever so much, my dears. My heart is so overwhelmed with joy, how can I ever express it? It has been ever so lonely without someone to confide in, to cherish. 

On a more serious note, I give my utmost gratitude to whoever has stumbled upon this humble blog of mine. Although I am just starting, I hope to use it as my best outlet of creativity, as well as a reflection of my colorful personality. Such beauty would be wasted if not shared with the world.
