Breakthrough New York
Breakthrough New York is a unique college access program with a "students teaching students" model that works with students from middle school, through high school to assure they are academically prepared to graduate and get accepted to college. Breakthrough pairs teaching interns with at-risk students, beginning in sixth grade, and makes a six-year commitment to each participant, with the ultimate goal of removing barriers to college access and breaking the cycle of poverty in low income families.

Our Mission
The Catalog for Giving is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of New York City children adversely affected by poverty, drugs, crime, and violence. The Catalog identifies, funds, and supports innovative, community-based start-up organizations providing valuable skills to disadvantaged youth, and in doing so sets them on new paths to success. Through creativity and the efforts of many volunteers, these organizations deliver extraordinary rewards to the youth and communities they serve.
