Growing up in Henderson, NV, she was raised by a single mother with her (half) sister.
Her mother was a bit of a hopeless romantic which resulted in her always being in and out of relationships, always believing the person she was currently with to be ‘the one,’ until one day she fell pregnant. As soon as the father found out about the pregnancy, he vanished. Regardless, Stella’s mother gave birth to her and loved her more than anything. The story was essentially the same for her older sister’s birth that took place two years prior, the events repeating themselves.
Her mother was in nursing school, but the price of raising two young daughters alone was too expensive, and she ended up dropping out and eventually becoming an exotic dancer, believing it was the best way she could provide for her daughters.
Still, they didn’t have much money, but her mother did everything in her power to give the two girls a good life, to the best of her abilities. Stella originally blamed her mother for the financial issues that seemed unfair, but as she grew older, she realized her mother was just trying her best. She and her sister would find ways to entertain themselves and have fun, though there was a revolving door of disappointing boyfriends of their mother coming in and out of the family trailer.
Unfortunately, Stella got into the drug scene pretty early on in her life. She had always been a part of the ‘bad’ crowd in school, having more interest in partying and hanging out in portions of the underground tunnels of the city that had been abandoned than in school.
In 1986, her older sister followed in the footsteps of their mother and got pregnant after graduating high school and beginning community college. Things took a turn for the worse when the father took his own life and shortly after, her sister was murdered while walking home from a night shift at her job, her body found drained of all its blood. That night, Stella was supposed to be the one walking her sister home but had ditched the responsibility to instead hang out in the tunnels under the city with her best friend, Cyrek, but they would meet the same fate as her sister due drug debts owed to the mafia. She wouldn't remember it being done, but the only reason she survived the night was being brought back as a vampire at Cyrek's hand.
In the coming weeks the police would come to zero leads on who was behind the death of her sister, as it went with many of the deaths in Sin City, and Stella always felt they hadn’t put enough effort into trying to. Her mother was deemed incapable of taking care of the now orphaned baby, and, somehow, Stella was given guardianship of her.
Living in near poverty and her sister’s death took a heavy toll on her and Stella never really stopped using after she started in her teenage years, but these events increased its severity. Her drug use was discovered, leading to a felony arrest of child endangerment of possession and prison time for Stella and a temporary foster family for her niece. Stella has never been able to regain custody after being arrested, but thankfully Joelle was adopted by Cyrek while she was behind bars.
After getting out of prison, she stayed clean long enough to pass the drug tests her parole officer gave her, but her use started back up again once the opportunity existed. She was also quickly finding herself getting back into trouble, though not legally, by resuming her role in the Cactus Cats gang. A few months after getting out of prison, a undefined relationship that crossed the boundaries of simple friendship with her best friend would turn into something more, and the two would eventually become a couple not long after. Becoming pregnant a mont into their relationship, Stella would finally find it in herself to quit drugs altogether, this time for good, though the baby would ultimately be lost, presumably due to the years of drug abuse taking a toll on her body.
Stella has remained oblivious to who had turned her into a vampire for all the years since it had happened, though she's gained a better grip on controlling and handling all that has come with it. The most obvious sign is her incessant need to count any group of objects around her or the attacks that often take place in dark alleys after her late shifts at the bar.
In Nov of 1995, Stella would take their relationship to the next level by proposing, a surprise to everyone as the woman had long written marriage out of her future when younger but had a change of heart inspired by their love, and the two are currently planning their wedding.
Currently working as a bartender at the Mean-Eyed Cat Bar, but together the fiancés are trying to open their own record shop, though the property they rented for it is taking a lot of DIY construction to make it ready to be officially open for business.
