Introduction

Hello, this is a 2001 aso rp blog!! I roleplay as Dr. Chandra, a mix of the movie one and book one (ATTENTION: I haven't read the books yet! But i did read snippets with chandra in them, so i feel like i have a pretty good grasp on his character in the books, or at least i hope so)

Rules

• I'm okay with: crack, comedy, romance, angst, light gore, suggestive and a lot more other types of rp! I am however not okay with porn/heavy gore rps. Any suggestive rps might end in ftb (fade to black), but nothing more, and they will be tagged appropriately with a cw (the same goes for gore)

• I'd be happy to answer questions in character! And also I'm fine with crossovers/oc/au etc.

• If you're thinking about making another Chandra, go for it! If i understand correctly, none of the chandra rp accounts mind duplicates (or there wouldn't be so many of us)

• I'm okay with asks/prompts/short rps/long rps so basically anything your soul desires! You can also suggest sketch ideas, i might draw them!

I'm still not sure what i am exactly, but i can pretty confidently say that I'm at least 20% not a man. And i have no idea what to do with that now, and i highly doubt that you don't know either.

I'm not even... Sure if it's possible to measure it in percent. I'm not fully man, but i also don't think i want to be a woman... Being neither would be perfect. But it would also make everything so much... Harder. The world is binary, i wouldn't fit anywhere. Not that i fit in right now, but still.

Finally, he's home. After travelling to Jupiter and back, he couldn't be happier with the feeling of ground under his feet. It's rare for him to leave his office, but today was just... Such a nice day that he couldn't resist taking a little walk. Maybe he'll get himself some pastries on the way home, that seems like a nice idea, and it will give a purpose to this whole outing. But for now, he's enjoying the calm wind near some building he's not familiar with. It doesn't seem to be lived in... Which is even better. He likes being alone

Nevele had left her home for the first time in years, fleeing for the city to get away from the rapidly deteriorating structure that was her home. While her incorporeal form bounced from building to building, she settled on an older, abandoned shell of a structure. At least this one didn’t hurt her to be in. She noticed a particularly interesting man sitting down towards the entrance. Her curiosity piqued, her presence slipped through the brick walls and landed in the wall behind him. She tapped from within, one tap per second, trying to gain his attention without going into her physical form. She wasn’t quite ready to show her broken face to the whole world.

He slowly turned his head, looking at the person besides him. He let out an embarrassing high little scream, flinching as he tried to process what's standing beside him. Turns out even all the adventures with the monolith didn't make him less scared of the unknown. It took him a second or two to collect himself and sit down on some grass near the wall, looking up and down the person

"Hello, i am terribly sorry for... Overreacting. I'm Doctor Chandra, and who might you be?"

Nevele didn’t speak, only beckoned to the locked door. She melted into the wall. Only a few seconds later did the door click and creak open. She whispered in a soft voice, “Quickly. Away from view.”

After swallowing down his anxiety,.he stood up and followed her. He's a grown man, he can fight a ghost! At least he really hoped so. This was... Not the smartest move on his end, but it wouldn't hurt to have at least some adventures in his life, right?

"I'm sorry if I'm being too inquisitive but... Why exactly are we here?"

As Nevele started shifting into a more tangible form, she said in a low voice, “I… don’t like being around many people anymore, but all sentient creatures need contact, and you seem like an interesting man to speak to. As for the abandoned building…” She looked around, staring at the cracks at the walls while tracing the ones starting to run across her own face. “Well, it’s not likely we’ll find anyone else in this one.” She turned back, wanting to make conversation to get away from her sudden awkwardness brought on by several years of no contact with humanity. “What do you do for a living? Just curious, because of your honorific.”

He nodded as she explained herself, visibly less nervous. He didn't really like being around people either, it was always too awkward, so he could do his best to empathise with the stranger.

"Oh well, I'm a computer scientist. I was the one to invent HAL 9000, the one that led the discovery mission"

He said this with pride, like he forgot what catastrophic events happened there. He was clearly happy with himself for being a father of such an intelligent being.

”Ah, that seems quite fun.” Her gaze seemed to drift to a corner, but there was nothing there. She nodded, then turned her eyes back to Chandra. “Oh, sorry about that. There was another hospitality spirit over there. I told her that we weren’t going to bother her, unlike some other vagrants she’s dealt with. I imagine I’ll have to prepare myself for similar situations…” Her voice trailed off as she remembered what had happened only last year.

"I'm sorry... Hospitality spirit? I don't think I'm... Familiar with those"

Okay now this... Is getting confusing. Hospitality spirits? He heard about a lot of stuff, but definitely not... Whoever they were. But sure, it wouldn't hurt to know a little more about... Different life on their planet

“A hospitality spirit is the soul of a building that is not built for residential purposes. They keep watch over their home structure whether it’s active or abandoned. We typically do not communicate with humans, but when our homes are left to rot away, we tend to be more… present.” Her skates clicked as she paced around. It helped her to move while speaking; it kept her focused. “If you’ve ever felt a sort of presence in a hotel or something, that is most likely the presence of a hospitality spirit.” She looked towards the floor at the creaking boards. “When our homes, and by extension us, are abandoned, we try our best to care for it like it’s a part of our bodies, as they practically are. When a window is broken, or paint is sprayed, or even when the floors start to cave in, we can feel it all. And when our homes are demolished…” She looked up again, a slight note of fear in her eyes. “…we die.” She started to look worried at the idea of destruction. She whispered something incomprehensible under her breath before turning back. “Sorry for dumping so many new things on you.”

"No, no, it's quite alright, i love learning new things. I never thought that spirits like this could... Exist, but i am very grateful for your work, looking over buildings sounds like a tiring job."

He listened to everything she said very closely, and now was more... Processing the information. It never occurred to him that someone like that existed, but it's not like he thought about inhuman life too much, at least he tried not to. Still this was a very rewarding experience, now he'll be a little less anxious when feeling a presence of someone in a room alone

”It can be, depending on what kind of place you watch over. Me, being the spirit of a hotel, I’ve seen my fair share of crazy things, but nothing that the spirit of, say, a courthouse may see.” She closed her eyes, and thought back to the most recent weirdest thing she’s ever seen, or rather felt. “While I was…under new management, there was a set of pipes that burst in part of my home. While I couldn’t see it for myself for…reasons, I could still feel it, that searing pain, and the icy chill that came after that. And then, all that time ago, I once met the President in person! He was kind, even let a couple of honeymooners stay in my tower instead of kicking them out…” She reopened her eyes and looked back at Chandra. “Have you ever felt or seen anything like that, as a human?” She gently clicked her left skate on the floor in case he zoned out.

While the man was lost in thought, Nevele pulled a small pocket watch out of a satchel on the back of her belt and examined the time. She had to be back home soon. Although it’s less efficient than flight because of navigation, jumping the power lines was certainly much faster. From the building they were standing in to the nearest proper power line was approximately 2 seconds, then from there zipping through a maze of wire to the nearest substation was a minute, then bolting from substation to substation all the way to her hometown of Ellenville, New York would take about 30 minutes, much faster than the hour or two it usually takes fighting against the mountain breeze. She interrupted whatever he was going to say. “Sir, I really must be going, it’ll take a while to get back home from here.” She walked to the door and motioned for him to leave. “I still need to lock it before leaving.”

"Of course, thank you for staying with me and... Telling me about all of this. It was interesting to discover that someone always looks after buildings... And it's heartwarming to know that. I think I'll sleep a little better from now on, with this knowledge keeping at least a little bit of my worries away"

He smiled at her, already thinking about where he should go now... And the answer was probably home. He had a little too many adventures for today, even if they weren't unpleasant.

He thought about it for a minute... He doesn't usually visit buildings like that, his home is his little room in the university and he isn't very kin on the idea of leaving it more than necessary. Today was just... An exception. But he did stay at hotels, sometimes he needed to, his job required at least some sort of travel once in a while.

"Well, i really try to... Not think about it too much. I don't want to become paranoid, but a lingering feeling that someone is there was with me every time i visited a hotel. I thought it was because i rarely leave my office, but... Turns out i was wrong"

Now he can sleep there with a peaceful mind, knowing that he probably isn't going insane. It's comforting, especially for a man like Chandra, to know that the feeling of presence in all those places has its, maybe not fully logical, but a valid explanation.

Finally, he's home. After travelling to Jupiter and back, he couldn't be happier with the feeling of ground under his feet. It's rare for him to leave his office, but today was just... Such a nice day that he couldn't resist taking a little walk. Maybe he'll get himself some pastries on the way home, that seems like a nice idea, and it will give a purpose to this whole outing. But for now, he's enjoying the calm wind near some building he's not familiar with. It doesn't seem to be lived in... Which is even better. He likes being alone

Nevele had left her home for the first time in years, fleeing for the city to get away from the rapidly deteriorating structure that was her home. While her incorporeal form bounced from building to building, she settled on an older, abandoned shell of a structure. At least this one didn’t hurt her to be in. She noticed a particularly interesting man sitting down towards the entrance. Her curiosity piqued, her presence slipped through the brick walls and landed in the wall behind him. She tapped from within, one tap per second, trying to gain his attention without going into her physical form. She wasn’t quite ready to show her broken face to the whole world.

He slowly turned his head, looking at the person besides him. He let out an embarrassing high little scream, flinching as he tried to process what's standing beside him. Turns out even all the adventures with the monolith didn't make him less scared of the unknown. It took him a second or two to collect himself and sit down on some grass near the wall, looking up and down the person

"Hello, i am terribly sorry for... Overreacting. I'm Doctor Chandra, and who might you be?"

Nevele didn’t speak, only beckoned to the locked door. She melted into the wall. Only a few seconds later did the door click and creak open. She whispered in a soft voice, “Quickly. Away from view.”

After swallowing down his anxiety,.he stood up and followed her. He's a grown man, he can fight a ghost! At least he really hoped so. This was... Not the smartest move on his end, but it wouldn't hurt to have at least some adventures in his life, right?

As Nevele started shifting into a more tangible form, she said in a low voice, “I… don’t like being around many people anymore, but all sentient creatures need contact, and you seem like an interesting man to speak to. As for the abandoned building…” She looked around, staring at the cracks at the walls while tracing the ones starting to run across her own face. “Well, it’s not likely we’ll find anyone else in this one.” She turned back, wanting to make conversation to get away from her sudden awkwardness brought on by several years of no contact with humanity. “What do you do for a living? Just curious, because of your honorific.”

He nodded as she explained herself, visibly less nervous. He didn't really like being around people either, it was always too awkward, so he could do his best to empathise with the stranger.

"Oh well, I'm a computer scientist. I was the one to invent HAL 9000, the one that led the discovery mission"

He said this with pride, like he forgot what catastrophic events happened there. He was clearly happy with himself for being a father of such an intelligent being.

”Ah, that seems quite fun.” Her gaze seemed to drift to a corner, but there was nothing there. She nodded, then turned her eyes back to Chandra. “Oh, sorry about that. There was another hospitality spirit over there. I told her that we weren’t going to bother her, unlike some other vagrants she’s dealt with. I imagine I’ll have to prepare myself for similar situations…” Her voice trailed off as she remembered what had happened only last year.

Okay now this... Is getting confusing. Hospitality spirits? He heard about a lot of stuff, but definitely not... Whoever they were. But sure, it wouldn't hurt to know a little more about... Different life on their planet

“A hospitality spirit is the soul of a building that is not built for residential purposes. They keep watch over their home structure whether it’s active or abandoned. We typically do not communicate with humans, but when our homes are left to rot away, we tend to be more… present.” Her skates clicked as she paced around. It helped her to move while speaking; it kept her focused. “If you’ve ever felt a sort of presence in a hotel or something, that is most likely the presence of a hospitality spirit.” She looked towards the floor at the creaking boards. “When our homes, and by extension us, are abandoned, we try our best to care for it like it’s a part of our bodies, as they practically are. When a window is broken, or paint is sprayed, or even when the floors start to cave in, we can feel it all. And when our homes are demolished…” She looked up again, a slight note of fear in her eyes. “…we die.” She started to look worried at the idea of destruction. She whispered something incomprehensible under her breath before turning back. “Sorry for dumping so many new things on you.”

He listened to everything she said very closely, and now was more... Processing the information. It never occurred to him that someone like that existed, but it's not like he thought about inhuman life too much, at least he tried not to. Still this was a very rewarding experience, now he'll be a little less anxious when feeling a presence of someone in a room alone
