From 2013 to 2014, Spanish photographer Arnau Bach photographed Marseille, capturing the false expectations and hidden tensions of the French city.
Marseille “is a city of the most stunning colors,” he told me. “Yet life is very hard there. The city is poor and tough, dirty and sandy. I could clearly see on the faces of the people I portrayed the weight of their concerns.”
