“Forced…?” What. From all things and people she’s seen in Ionia, he had to be the most peculiar. And that’d be very clear given her puzzled gaze upon seeing the outstretched wings.

“Cold… I’m well versed with it, Targon can get incredibly cold. What are you? An Angel…?” She knew Kayle, and she was pretty sure that’s what she called herself, wings and all.

“Not forced in a way you think, the people who keep me here like to keep me looking “formal” to a god of sorts I suppose. That’s a way to put it really. Haven’t stepped a foot outside that temple until.. right now! We should probably keep walking if we want to get anywhere, the people really like keeping their “god” safe from harm.” He used his wing to usher her along as he spoke, a smile playing on his lips with a bounce of excitement in his step.  “You’ve been to targon? You LIVE there? That must be quite the journey, why exactly do you bring yourself to Ionia? Curious of the sights, perhaps taking a day off from the cold?”

“A god…?” She was about to ask further, but then one of his wings slapped her back. She wasn’t one to pay mind to strangers, much less what they wished from her, but she’d keep her pace steady with him. He sounded far too excited, but given he did not seem to go out much, she could not blame him.

“Supposedly. Yet I would not call it home, not yet.” Her tone went dull with the answer, the subtle shrug of her shoulders emphasizing her apathy towards the topic. “And no, none of those options. I’m here mostly for the Lunar temples. I’d say the one you were in had nothing to do with them, correct?”

Here she thought her trip would be peaceful. One mistake and she was stuck with a flamboyant Ionian god of sorts…

“I don’t think so.” He says a brow raising in thought. “Although I am aware of other places that do have some temples scattered about. Heard some of the locals speak of these places. Didn’t think they were lunar ones.”

His wings eventually stopped drifting behind her, only to fold neatly against his back. Surprisingly for their size they were compact. Extremely useful if he didn’t want to fill up such a large area with his mass amount of feathery fluff.

”Still searching for a home then? I wouldn’t worry too much. You have to remember that home doesn't have to be in one place. It can be in many! Well, in my opinion, that is.”

"What's with the outfit?" A pause. "Are those... Real wings? What the-"

“I’m forced to dress like this, and yes. They're really nice arent they?” He spreads them outwards. Surprisingly they were much larger than what they appeared to be. His entire wingspan from tip to tip appeared to be well over 20 feet. “Too bad they don’t keep me warm from this cold. They really are fragile.”

“Varus?” Where had he heard that name before?  I swore he’d heard it elsewhere, but this didn’t match any preconceived image in his brain.  Oh well, he was probably a hallucination anyway– he didn’t really see any other plausible explanation at this point.  Other than that this man might perhaps be some sort of…weird vastayan. What the fuck was a cupid, anyhow? 

“Look, I don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about, but if you could refrain from shooting things at him that would be great.  That might probably for sure make things worse.  I mean.  I should know, why the fuck do you think I’m sitting in the middle of the forest like this.” he swung both arms up.  Yep, definitely the woods.  

“Shooting people makes everything worse.  Oh, and I don’t take advice from tiny winged men dressed like that.  No offense, but I’m just–I’m not into whatever that is.” he just really didn’t give a single shit, did he?

He could see how the hydra was easy to get mad at the man. He was kind of stupid wasn't he? Well not stupid but pretty stubborn and well, Varus wasn’t really going to have any of it really. 

“I control people's love lives, well not really? I kinda usher you into it and then you guys do the rest I don’t really care what you do unless it becomes a problem. But this, Jack, this is a problem! It's a literal eldritch god. Do you think that dragon picks any human just for fun? Dragons don’t pick mates often Jack! They're really picky, and you're a H U M A N. No dragon would ever pick a human but then there's this THING, he apparently wants a human and here you are.”  He makes jazz hands toward the man before sighing to himself again. “Well yeah, here you are I guess. You look like shit really.”

“I’ll have you know I haven’t had worms in at least 3 years! I take pills for that now just to be certain of it!” he hissed, sat despondently on an old, decaying log, elbow to knee and face to hand.  He stared at him with the most unbecoming sort of glower, which softened the longer he stared at him.

“Y’got fuckin’…wings.”

“I’m cupid Jack, C U P I D. At least that's what people call me for some reason..” His finger placed itself on his own chin, staring at the man with a squint of his pink glowing eyes.  “Seriously how can you fuck this up so bad? You think a few arrows are really gonna fix this?” He manifests a golden arrow between his fingers, the heart-shaped tip shimmering in the sunlight that gleamed through the trees.  “It’s not Jack! I don’t even know where to shoot the hydra. Do I shoot him in the butt? I literally couldn't have set this up any better and you go and blow it off like some kind of joke you do.” The heartseeker was clear on continuing his rant. Which had probably lasted for several seconds before his fingers were at his forehead, sighing to himself as he shook it a few times before inhaling slightly to calm down.

“Okay from the top. Hello, My name is Varus nice to meet you, Jack, I know and etc etc. I’ve seen you in better condition than this I’m sure.”

"You're a MORON."

“Yeah?  Tell me something I don’t know.”

“Your hydra hates you.” He says flatly.

“You're an actual idiot right? Like I get that you’re kind messed in the mind. I get that from you but like, if the world ends I’ll strangle you in the afterlife I will!” His feathers ruffle behind him as he crosses his arms over his chest. 

“I’d fix this if I could but it looks like you got other things on your mind, er, in your mind? You got worms man.”

The heartseeker stares at the woman, she looks familiar. Although he doesn’t remember who she is..

It didn't. He felt so bad for not remembering who she was. Obviously, he meant something dear to her if she was so happy to see him. He frowned to himself, shaking his head. His wings seemed to droop from his back as he tried his best to remember her. Eventually giving up when he had no recollection, other than what had just happened mere minutes ago.

”No, I’m sorry.” he says softly. ”I wish I did. Maybe it would explain myself more.”

The Muse is used to being stared at. She didn’t notice him right away because of that… but when she did, her eyes went from questioning dullness to elated brightness within moments.

<Varus!!> she called to him, immediately flying over and scooping the man up in her arms by his head - effectively embracing him into her bosom. And slightly smothering him. <I haven’t seen you in ages, my darling!~ Where have you been?! You look so good! A little skinny, though. Have you been eating enough? If I see too many ribs poking out I’m going to be mad at you~>

When she was quite done suffocating the poor boy, Sona pulled back to hold his face (rather firmly) between her hands in order to tilt his head around this way and that. Studying every line, every curve, every little pore and freckle. <Perfect> she finally decided. <You’re still as handsome as ever~ Just look at that nose. Surely that’s from me. Anyway, where have you been my darling boy? Leaving mama all by herself!> “Tch!” <Even my boy abandons me…! Truly, these are the end times.>

Wait what? WHAT. She was his mother?? He didnt quite get that, well, everyone inside didnt remember who she was. He seemed to ponder to himself as the woman continued tonprod and stare at him. Finally releasing him from her grip as she joked at him. Oh, he doesn't get any of it.

A hand comes up to the back of his head. A soft ’Uhm’ coming from his mouth. ”I've been here, just. staying around you know. Watching the people.” What was he supposed to say this lady was 100% sure he was her son. Maybe this happened before everything? Ever since he was combined with the two souls he didn't quite remember much. What ’varus’ was, he had given himself in to make a new completely different being. ”I don’t.. remember..” he says to himself, hand coming up to gently cover his lips as he had realized he admitted it out loud.

There's a ruffle of feathers as his head pops up from a pile of blankets. He is very warm and snug. A very warm boy who has just woken up from a  good nap.

White feathers unfurl around him as he stretches out. A soft yawn escaping his lips as the pure white plumage ruffles, before resting gently around his form. Encasing his body like a blanket as he held his knees up to his chest.

“The warmth is coming back, I was afraid winter was never going to stop.”
