my specific cycle of torment seems to be this:

1) i make a post that i dont think is particularly unclear or controversial

2) the peanut gallery finds new and thrilling ways to misinterpret the post

3) i add clarifications to the post until it becomes a mile long

4) in desperation, i make a new post entirely, 3 sentence maximum, explaining the common misconceptions attached to the previous post

5) somehow THAT post picks up traction

6) the new wave of commentary is people going “um no one is actually saying that/believes that” on the post where i respond vaguely to what a thousand or more people have said to me

7) i start biting
