The experience of a physician with the same day courier service
Dr. Mark was a physician at a pediatric hospital in a metropolitan city. His routine at the hospital kept him extremely busy between surgeries and patient visits. Because of this tiring routine his family was very disturbed and missed him to the core. Quite often his younger daughter, who was 7 at that time, called him and kept asking as to when he will come home. It was a devastating conversation for Dr. Mark as he loved his family a lot. But he promised that he would be home on the Christmas evening to celebrate with the family. As soon as he hung up the call with tears in his eyes, he was paged to report to the operation room as soon as possible. He rushed towards it and found a 7 year old girl with bruises on her right leg. She was playing in her garden and a metal rod hit her that broke her femur bone. Dr. Mark was scheduled immediately to perform a surgery to fix it. The girl looked hopefully towards him and instantly there was a bond that formed between them of father and daughter. Dr. Mark instantly prepared for the surgery which took almost 5 hours. Before that he made a call to the same day courier service.
On the other side of the town, Dr. Marks’ daughter was looking through the window by the main door to look for the familiar voice of her father’s car parking in the garage. Instead there was a colorful van that parked in front of their door and a guy came out of it carrying an extremely huge package packed with a green and red wrapping paper. She called for Mrs. Mark and that very instant the door bell rang. When they answered the door, it was the same day courier guy who was assigned to drop the package at their home. When she opened the parcel, it had a big Christmas tree all decorated with mistletoes and ornaments. Attached to it was also a battery that said “plug me”. The moment it was plugged the Christmas tree was lightened and in a blink it was all sparkly. The tree was so dazzling that for a moment both Mrs. Mark and her daughter were spell bound. When they returned to the real world, they read the note on the package. It said, “To my dear sweet daughter. This is a special gift for you because I could not make it at the Christmas Eve. A small girl, just like you needed my services and I could not leave her suffering. I hope you will forgive me because you and I are both serving humanity and that’s what Santa does”.
