The Robo that stole my heart at the pet store by nyooming back and forth for 15 minutes.

I brought hime home he’s mine now.

After doing some research and having someone mention it in the tags, I’ve come to find the pacing could possibly be signs of one of 2 things

a neurological disorder from inbreeding 

he’s bored/anxious

I’ll be keeping an eye on him for the next few weeks to see how he’s doing and try to make sure he’s got plenty to do and plenty of space to run around to get rid of that excess energy

Hey did you guys know robo hamsters eat each other?

this can happen with any rodent. i’ve had mice eat their young just minutes after giving birth and others leaving cagemates half-eaten

I’ve been doing some research on my own but if anyone else who’s had more experience with owning Robos has any advice I’d love to hear it from someone personally! feel free to leave a reply here or send an IM

this is cute and all but this could be a sign of a genetic neural disorder

I’ll keep a close eye on him and see how he does. The pet-store does have a 30 day policy where I can return him if things don’t work out.

He seems to have calmed down considerably since I’ve brought him home and we’ll see how the next week or two goes!

What? that’s not a mouse!

Just picked this guy up from petco today, say hello to my new Roborovski Dwarf Hamster!

I fell in love with these guys a while ago and have been pining for one for quite a while! I figured since I have two empty 10 gallons now, might as well!

He’s currently living in one of them but eventually my dad and I are gonna work on making a bridge lid to combine the two so he has more room to run around and be crazy.

now he just needs a name! suggestions?

Quick question! Do you think a fancy mouse and a bait mouse would breed without any complications?

bait mouse as in feeders for snakes and reptiles?

I would personally avoid it and stick to breeding among mice that were bred by reputable breeders. Feeders tend to be mass bred and inbred and can be VERY sickly or very susceptible to illness later on.

Feeders+Feeders should be done with the intention of making more feeders

Fancy+Fancy should be done with the intention of making more pets

Fancy+Feeder could increase the likelihood for illness and people will be less likely to want to adopt them from the increased risk. Which is something big to consider before breeding at all, whether or not you can find homes for the resulting offspring.

In other news, I have two 10 gallon tanks that are empty now, my 6 remaining girls sharing a 20 gallon. Dad’s going to help me set up the 10 gallon tanks to share a top so one rodent can have a square 20 gallon space.

I’ve been debating on getting a robo or russian dwarf hamster now that I have the space to do so and have had a few days to mourn and accept the loss of the previous inhabiting mice of those cages.

Nothing’s definite yet but in the meantime I’ll continue to do my research before I’m ready to go out and get a new friend to house these empty nests

I know I don’t post often here but it’s mainly because I’m focused more on my art career. However, if anyone has any requests for pictures, advice or even stories you’d like to hear or share some of your own I think it’d be a fun way to get this blog to be more active

Pitbull has unfortunately passed away on 7/19/16.

He, along with his father Pipit were my last two males so now I’m left with 6 girls in my care. Pitbull had been struggling with an unknown illness for a while that was most likely something internal like cancer.

He was probably one of my favorite mice along with his mother to come out of my mouse breeding and will be dearly missed.
