Reminders for Theatre Kids

To theatre kids that have trouble balancing school and shows/training: hang in there, you're doing great. I believe in you. Take care of yourself first. It's okay to need a break.

To techies that are made out to seem less important because you aren't onstage: you are valued, you are important. Theatre is about teamwork. You are amazing and you're doing great.

To theatre kids that can't afford to go to a performing arts camp every summer: keep working hard, fancy training or not. Hard work is important, no matter where you are. You are not less valuable because you aren't able to get this training yet.

To theatre kids that haven't been able to do many shows yet: you are worth more than your résumé. Without a passion for theatre, your amount of experience isn't important. Love what you're doing. Celebrate it. Get involved however you can, when you can, and always take care of yourself. Your love for theatre is valid, regardless of what anyone says. every mistake is a learning experience. And most of them are probably smaller than you think. Don't beat yourself up about it, just keep going. You're amazing.

To theatre kids that think they aren't good enough: you are amazing. You are talented. You have incredible ideas. Work hard. Be kind to people. Trust yourself. I love you.

To all theatre kids: remember to take care of yourself first. You life isn't a résumé. Participate as much as you can, but don't beat yourself up if you have to miss something. Be committed, but put your mental health first. Only you know how much you can handle. This is a time for learning experiences, so take care of yourself and surround yourself with positive people as much as possible. You are amazing.
