â LEE HEESEUNG ( 0.8k wc )
"y/n wait!"
heeseung's voice only made you walk faster. you didn't want to humiliate yourself further by stopping and talking to him. all you wanted to do now was to just march out of the school, go home, lock yourself in your room and maybe eat a tub of ice cream while you ugly cry yourself to sleep.
"y/n, please." heeseung pleaded, taking your elbow in his grasp as he spun you around and pulling you closer to the point you can feel his breath on fanning your nose.
he looked at you pleadingly. "it's okay," you managed to say in a shaky voice. "i understand, you can all laugh at me all you want now-" he shook his head, "it's okay really!" you added, pursing your lips.
"i just want to be left alone now okay?" and even if he knew you didn't mean just 'now.' he'll respect your wishes and let you go, but he won't give up.
heeseung watched you walk away from him with a heavy heart, wanting nothing but to just explain everything to you before it was too late. he couldn't lose you, not like this.
when he couldn't see your figure anymore, he messily messed his hair and made his way back to the gym eager to teach a guy how to not spit nonsense.
it's been a week since that happened and a week since he's seen you in the school. he asked some of your classmates and club members but all he received were nasty glares and short cold answers. what happened between the two of you spread like wild fire the following day you walked away from him. everyone knew you were kind of a nerd, but they also knew you were a complete angel and had a heart soft as a pillow.
they also knew that betting on a person's feeling isn't exactly it. â more under the cut!
so throughout that week too, his popularity decreased day by day. he used to receive heart eyes on the hallways and joyful 'good morning, heeseung!'s by random students, now all he received were judgemental glances and they avoided him like a plague, scared to be the next target of a cruel bet.
he didn't care though, all he cared about was your wellbeing. it's been a week and you've still yet to show up to class, so imagine his surprise when you suddenly walk in to the room with your usual hair do, your bag slung over on your shoulder and your glasses almost falling off your nose bridge.
he sat up straighter, gulping as his eyes followed your every move. he could feel hear heart beating louder, as if it was calling for you, desperate to be near you again.
he needed to fix this, asap.
it felt like forever before heeseung heard the bell ring. as soon as he heard the annoying sound, he messily packed up his things and ran after you.
"y/n!" your forearm was then again grabbed by him. although this time, he turned you slowly. heeseung silently admired your face. he missed you so much.
"let me explain, please. it's not what you think. i promise." he whispered, vulnerability in his tone. the simple nod you gave was his signal to interlace his fingers with yours as he looked for an empty room.
you ignored the looks everyone threw your way, either worried and judging. all you could focus on was his warm hand on yours and how you missed it so much, you didn't even realize you both were now inside an empty classroom.
"there was no bet." you furrowed your brows, looking at him with mixed confusion and frustration. "i promise, there was no bet."
"why would they say that then?"
"i don't know, but i promise there's no bet. throughout the months we've been together everything i've said was real." he said, desperate.
heeseung stepped closer.
"what i felt for you was real," he scrambled to get his phone from his pocket, opening his messages app. "you can go through my phone all you want, ask any of my friends-" you raised a brow.
"not those friends! i mean sunghoon, jay, jungwon.. you know." your raised brow made him sputter. "to be completely honest, they've been ignoring me after they heard about what happened.."
you looked at him hesitantly as you scrolled through his messages with shaking hands. you scrolled for so long, you even reached to the messages months before you both got together.
he didn't have any messages to his basketball team group chat unless it was announcements from his coach. the group chat with his actual friends were only filled with his pining over 'the girl on the back of his biology class.'
"heeseung.."
"there's no bet, baby. i'd never do that to anyone." he whispered, stepping closer. "i can't lose you like this.. i love you."
you sniffled as you came crashing on his chest, letting tears fall again. heeseung immediately wrapped his arms around you, sighing in relief as he finally have you back in his arms.
"i was so worried baby." he mumbled, kissing your head.
"i love you forever. i'll kill everyone who tries to get in between us again," heeseung pulled you closer if it was even possible.
"and if they do, i'll make sure to fix everything even if it means the whole world would hate me."
â PARK JONGSEONG ( 1.0k wc )
jay was confused.
the both of you had a very well planned date tonight, so he was utterly puzzled to see that you weren't responding to his messages. for heaven's sake, you didn't even read his messages, he was just left in delivered.
he had tried calling multiple times but was only met with your automated voice telling him to leave a voice message. it came to the point that he had enough and decided to drive to your house.
throughout the drive, jay wondered what could've happened. he couldn't think of anything that would make you upset like this, he hoped that you just fell asleep and forgot to have your alarm on.
walking up the porch of your house, jay rang the doorbell and was met with your mom who opened the door with furrowed brows when she laid her eyes on him.
"good afternoon mrs. l/n, is y/n home?" your mother's frown deepened, hesitantly looking at the stairs behind her before looking back at him. "i'm sorry jay, she said she doesn't want to see you?"
that caused jay to furrow his brows as well. "wha- may i ask why?"
"i was hoping you'd tell me." if jay was confused a while ago, he was even more confused now and frustrated.
"can i see her, please?" he pleads, the older woman hesitantly opened the door wider to invite him in, and before he could ascend up the stairs, your mom stopped him.
"jay.." he looked back. "i don't know what happened to you both but take it easy on her, alright? she's been crying, i can tell." jay gulped and only nodded, sending your mom a pursed smile.
he knocked on your bedroom door, when no response came, he tried to turn the knob and was thankful that it wasn't locked.
jay slowly opened your door, seeing you curled on one corner of your bed as your body shook from your sobs you tried to keep silent.
he could feel his heart break at the sight. stepping a foot inside the room, he mentally cursed at himself when he accidentally bumped on to your mirror causing your head to shoot up in alarm at the sound.
your already glassy eyes was once again filled with tears as your eyes met his. jay barely dodged the pillow you threw at him, screaming at him to "go away and never show your face to me again."
jay frowned and came closer until he was sat on the edge of your bed, ignoring the words you just shouted at him.
"baby.. what's- what's wrong?" he asked, attempting to hold your hand but you retracted it and tried to throw another pillow at him. he swiftly caught it and brought it back down gently beside you.
"was it worth the one month of free car wash?" you spat through hiccups. jay stayed silent, confused.
"of course it probably was, that's what you do right?" the sight of your swollen and red face kept breaking his heart, he was still confused on what you were talking about but he'll let you talk.
this way he knew how he'd make things better.
"make me fall in love with you in exchange of a month's free of car wash.." you muttered, your eyes still boring on to his. at your words, it finally clicked. "..am i really worth just that much?" another sob.
right, he had forgotten to end the call when his 'friend' came barging into his apartment. you had probably heard all the nonsense the guy sputtered.. but surely you must've heard the way he defended your relationship and swore at that him too?
"i thought.. high school days were done jay. please just leave me alone now. you got what you want." jay shook his head, coming closer and pulling your body to his.
he wrapped his arms around you, his hand rubbing your back as you sobbed hard. he didn't try stopping you when he felt your weak punches that you threw at his chest, his own tears clouding his vision but he didn't dare make them fall.
"you got it all wrong, baby." he whispered, rubbing your nape as your face now rested against the crook of his neck. he ignored the wetness there. "i'm guessing you overheard the conversation with sungjae?"
you nodded, now calmer but not pulling away.
"did you also hear the way i told him to drop the stupid bet he kept insisting to happen? the way i kicked him out of my apartment?" you stayed silent, only sniffling as a response.
jay sighed, wrapping his arm around your waist tighter and pulling you closer.
"the whole campus knows sungjae's an asshole, baby. he was a jerk who thought that being a dick to others were entertaining, and i guess that's why i was like that back in high school.. i wanted to be accepted in their group."
"but we're in college now, i left that group but somehow sungjae's here and is pathetically still stuck in the past." he pulled your face from his neck, cupping your cheek and wiping away your tears.
"i've loved you since high school.. and there's no bet, baby. the moment he had found out i was dating you, he kept bringing up a bet about how long we would last.. but i always shut him out, told him to cut it out and that there will be no bet happening, especially if you're the one getting betted on."
new fresh tears come rolling down your cheek, this time they were tears of relief. glad to know that everything was real, that you weren't just a toy.
"you promise you'll cut him off starting now?" you whispered, looking at him with big glassy eyes.
"i've cut him since high school, y/n. it's him who's keep clinging to me. but i promise he won't be saying anything about the both of us anymore." jay pressed your foreheads together, pressing a soft peck on your lips.
"you will forever be the prettiest and the only one i'll ever love this much in this world, my baby."
â SIM JAEYUN ( 0.5k wc )
jake watched you run away in confusion, staring at the laughing crowd and turning to look at your locker only to be met with the note he has been telling everyone to throw away.
he angrily took it from your locker, ripping the small paper into pieces. "how many times have i told you to cut this shit out? do you want me to report all of you for harassment and bullying?" he raised his voice at the crowd who had stopped their laughter.
"that's what i thought." he frowned, pushing past them and running after you.
jake knew what everyone was doing the moment it spread that he was dating you. he had received dms telling him he could do better and if he was merely toying with your feelings.
he had told them countless times to drop it, even going far as to almost punch the person who has created the bets if it wasn't for sunoo holding him back. he had hoped that it wouldn't reach you. it was another one of his reasons on why he always went to school earlier, just in case it was placed on your locker. unfortunately, you were earlier than him today.
it's not like he was tolerating it, he had tried countless times to report it but they'd only say it was probably only for fun and he shouldn't take jokes seriously.
but jokes were meant to be funny, right?
jake opened the door that lead to the rooftop slowly, peeking his head to look if you were there. to his luck, you were.
your back faced him while your bag was placed down carelessly beside your feet. jake approached slowly, not wanting to overwhelm you further.
"baby?" he mumbled loud enough for you to hear. you turned your head towards him, showing him your tear stained cheeks. "oh, y/n." he sighed and held your cheeks, wiping away the salty liquid off your precious face.
"jake.. why are you dating me, of all people?" you ask through tears, avoiding his eyes.
jake's eyes softened, he dated you because you were different from everyone who wanted to be like the everyone else, did that make sense? you were your own person, you didn't care about social status, wealth, his circle of friends, and whether someone was good looking or not. you were soft hearted, to the point that you had let others take advantage of that leading them to walking all over you.
and he hated that.
"why not you?" he said softly, tilting your chin up so that you could meet his eyes. "you're everything i've ever needed."
"you can tell the truth." you mutter, looking at jake. his mouth formed a pout, heart broken at the way you had so little love for yourself.
"i am telling the truth, baby." he whispers, taking your hands and placing them on his face before putting his own hands back on yours. "everything is a joke to them when i'm involved." you whisper, ignoring the way your voice broke.
"we don't care about what they think, they're all just jealous. everything we've been through and what i feel for you are real, no jokes." he smiled, pulling you closer to him.
"you promise?"
"baby i'd choose you over anyone in this world over and over again until the heavens above is tired of me."
â PARK SUNGHOON (0.7k wc)
sunghoon frowned, confused and hurt. he wanted to fix whatever happened, so he took his phone from the couch and his car keys from the wooden bowl in his foyer.
it was when he was in the elevator that he noticed his phone was open. his breath hitched, finally knowing the reason for your departure and choice of words. sunghoon quickly left the group chat and started dialing your number.
it was true that you were a bet. were. he didn't even know why he agreed, maybe because he wanted so badly to fit in. he didn't want a repeat of middle school, so instead of being the bullied and made fun of, he was now the one doing those to others. he wasn't proud of it at the slightest.
that doesn't excuse his actions though. the longer he spent time with you, the deeper he fell. sunghoon never planned for you to find out this way, he already had a plan. first he had to get rid of his 'friends', tell you everything then ask you if you still wanted him to meet your parents.
guilt always ate him alive whenever you would stay over and sleep by his side. he couldn't bring himself to meet your family knowing he hasn't told you everything and the truth.
he felt like his heart would jump out of his chest as he stood infront of the door of your house. if he died tonight on the hands of either your father or older brother, he'd welcome death with open arms.
i deserve it.
he audibly gulped when the door opened, revealing.. you. the way your brows furrowed at the sight of him tightened his chest. he stopped you before you could even close the door on him.
"y/n please, let me explain everything.. o-okay?" the way his voice cracked and the unshed tears in his eyes almost made you give in, but upon remembering what you've read, the anger in you was back.
"explain what?" you spat, turning to look over your shoulder before back at him. "that all those months i've spent loving you," you pointed at him harshly. "was just for entertainment? tell me, what was in it for you, huh?"
sunghoon shook his head, the tears now flowing down his pale cheeks. "no, no! i promise, please i love you." he reached out but you stepped back, biting your lip as you held back the tears.
"just.. leave me alone sunghoon," he felt his heart crack even more. "you've had your fun, you can laugh about i all you want now." you were taken aback when he knelt infront of you, hugging your waist as he sobbed.
"what the-" sunghoon tightened his grip on you, muttering along the words of 'im sorry', 'never meant to be like this', and something along the lines of regretting something.
"sunghoon- oh my god." you groaned as you descended to face him. "please, i didn't mean to. i-" he hiccuped, "i'm sorry, i know it was stupid and there's no reason for me to accept the bet- but i just wanted to fit in. i wanted them to take me as a part of their circle- but, but i soon realized that it was stupid." he looked at you with swollen eyes, desperation swam in his dark irises.
"because i realized that hurting you isn't worth being a part of their asshole group. it started with a bet, i admit, but i truly love you, please believe me." a sob made its way out his throat as he clung into you, his arms circling your neck. "it wasn't a lie whenever i said i'd meet your parents, i was constantly trying to get rid of them first before i met your family, i didn't want to meet them until i've told you the complete truth."
your own tears descended down your cheeks, your heart hurting for yourself and sunghoon. you stayed on the floor wrapped around each other for a moment before you both helped each other up to your feet, he looked at you intensely with red bloodshot eyes. "i'm sorry, i understand if you don't want anything to do with me anymore."
"i understand hoon," you whispered, bringing your hands to cup his face. "but you have to understand too that i can't trust you fully right up again." he nodded, putting his own hands on yours as he kissed your palms.
"i know.. and i'll spent the rest of my life earning it again. i love you."
synopsis: jay trying to re-gain his dramaqueen daughterâs attention after she got mad at him.
the kitchen was filled with the sweet scent of vanilla and sugar, mixing perfectly with the soft hum of the oven. you glanced over at your daughter, who stood on a small stool next to you, her tiny hands busy rolling cookie dough into little balls. her brows were furrowed in concentration, but there was no hiding the little pout that had settled on her lips ever since jay had told her she couldnât help him earlier.
jay stood a few steps behind, nervously rubbing the back of his neck as he watched the two of you. âprincess,â he started softly, trying to catch her attention, âiâm sorry, okay? daddy just didnât want you to get hurt.â
she ignored him, huffing dramatically as she placed another cookie on the baking sheet. âmommy says i can help her,â she said, her voice holding that unmistakable sass sheâd developed lately.
you stifled a laugh, not wanting to encourage her but also finding the whole situation too adorable. âsheâs right, you know,â you said, glancing over at jay with a small smile. âiâm keeping her away from the hot stuff.â
jay sighed, knowing he was going to have to work harder to win back his little girlâs favor. âi know, i know,â he mumbled, stepping closer. âbut can daddy at least help now? i miss baking with my favorite girls.â
his daughter finally looked up at him, her big eyes narrowing as if she was considering his request. after a moment, she sighed, crossing her little arms over her chest. âonly if you say sorry again,â she demanded, her tiny voice serious.
âiâm really, really sorry,â jay said, kneeling down to her level. âi promise next time iâll let you help more. deal?â
she seemed to think about it for a moment before a small smile tugged at the corners of her mouth. âdeal,â she agreed, reaching out to pat his cheek like sheâd seen you do countless times.
jay couldnât help but grin, leaning in to give her a quick kiss on the forehead before standing up. âthank you, princess,â he said, feeling a wave of relief wash over him.
the three of you continued baking, your daughterâs earlier grumpiness completely forgotten as she giggled and chatted with both of you, her mood lifting with each cookie she helped make. jay couldnât stop himself from glancing at the clock every now and then, knowing that 8 pm was just around the corner. it was their special time, and he needed it more than anything.
as the last batch of cookies went into the oven, you caught jay looking at the clock again. âdonât worry,â you said softly, brushing a strand of hair behind your ear. âyouâll get your cuddle time.â
he smiled sheepishly, feeling a little silly for being so anxious about it. âi just⊠i donât want to miss it,â he admitted.
you reached out, squeezing his hand reassuringly. âyou wonât,â you promised, your eyes warm and understanding. âand iâm sure sheâs looking forward to it just as much as you are.â
sure enough, as the clock struck 8, your daughter was already climbing onto the couch, her small frame getting comfortable among the pillows. jay quickly followed, scooping her up into his arms and settling down beside her. she snuggled up against him, her earlier sass completely replaced by the soft, sleepy demeanor that always appeared around this time.
you watched them with a smile, feeling your heart swell at the sight of the two most important people in your life. jay met your gaze, his eyes full of love and contentment as he wrapped his arm around his little girl. âcome join us,â he whispered, patting the spot next to him.
you didnât need any more convincing, slipping onto the couch and nestling in beside them. your daughter yawned, her eyelids already drooping as she mumbled something about cartoons. jay reached for the remote, putting on her favorite show, but it didnât take long before her breathing evened out, the steady rise and fall of her chest signaling that she was fast asleep.
jay sighed softly, pressing a gentle kiss to the top of her head. âthanks for letting me make it up to her,â he whispered to you, his voice filled with gratitude.
âyouâre a great dad,â you whispered back, leaning your head against his shoulder. âshe just likes to remind you whoâs really in charge sometimes.â
he chuckled softly, knowing you were right. âyeah, sheâs definitely got your spirit.â
âiâll take that as a compliment,â you teased, closing your eyes as the warmth of the moment wrapped around you like a blanket.
the three of you stayed like that, cuddled up on the couch, the soft glow of the television casting a gentle light over the room. and in that quiet, peaceful moment, jay couldnât imagine anything better.
when your daughter wants to take care of him | pjs
pairing: husband!jay x fem!reader
genre: fluff
synopsis: jay fell sick and all baby yeorum wants to do is dress up like a doctor and cure her daddy.
Jay laid on the couch, bundled up in blankets with a slight fever, eyes closed as he tried to rest. You were tidying up nearby when your daughter came bounding into the living room with her toy doctor kit in hand.Â
She carefully set up her things beside him, slipping on her toy stethoscope. "Let me do your checkup, Appa!" she announced with a determined expression.
You noticed the playful interruption, as you gently tried to steer your daughter away. "Don't disturb Appa, baby. It's not the time to play. He needs to rest."
Yeorum shook her head stubbornly, adjusting the stethoscope around her neck. "I will take care of Appa! Donât you worry!" she declared, her tiny hands already reaching out to pretend to take his pulse.
Jay couldnât help but smile softly, even in his groggy state. He knew better than to argue with his daughter when she was on a mission.
"You'll get sick too, baby," you tried again, but your daughter was already too absorbed in her role.
"Eomma, shhh!" the little girl whispered, holding a finger to her lips. "Appa is sleeping."
"But I'm not even talkingâ" you started to say, but were quickly cut off by yeorumâs exaggerated "Shhh, quiet nowww!"Â
Jay chuckled lightly at his daughterâs insistence. He closed his eyes, letting her "examine" him with her toy instruments. After a few minutes, she gasped as she leaned in close to his ear and whispered, "The cure for this sickness is⊠endless cuddles for Eomma and me!"
Jay's heart melted at the sweetness of her words. He pulled her into a gentle hug, despite feeling a bit weak. "Well, in that case, Doctor, I think I need a lot of treatment," he said, smiling as his daughter giggled and snuggled into him, her playful diagnosis bringing him a warmth no medicine could.
synopsis: your daughter misses jay, but as a pilot his schedule requires him to be in places but at home. So she sulks and sulks..
âCome on, say hi to appaâ you coo at your 3 year old daughter who refused to talk to her dad, âyeorum-ah i miss you so much, i promise to come back to you and give you all the cuddles and all the kisses. Letâs not be mad at each other hmm?â Hearing your husbands voice trying to convince your daughter to finally open her mouth and respond. A smile appeared on your face, reflecting your amusement.Â
But she was your daughter, maybe jayâs genes did not even try to fight at this. Your husband, a pilot was once again gone for his work. A grueling week with multiple destinations was for sure hectic. âHe said the same thing last timeâ your daughter mumbles, pushing the phone back to voice barely audible because of her pout.
You gently try to console her. âI know itâs hard, sweetie,â you say softly. âAppa has to be away for work, but he loves you very much.â
Mumbling again, âBut itâs not the same when heâs not here. I miss him mmhâŠ..â she complains shifting again on your lap. you sigh, understanding the pain in your daughterâs voice.Â
You know too well the sacrifices involved and the strain it places on your family. âI miss him too,âyou admit, talking to her as you gently rub yeorumâs back. âBut weâre so proud of him, and heâs working hard to provide for us. Itâs just for a little while longer. So can you talk to him?â Jay watches through his phone as your daughter finally sits still on your lap, âThatâs my girl, appa apologizes for making my little princess this sad.â
âI wish you could be here right nowâ yeorum says as she overdramatically lets out an exhale, Jay gives a reassuring smile. âMe too. But I am thinking of us every moment. And when i get back, weâll have all the time we want together.â
With her lips curved up to a smile, your daughter looks convinced now âWill you do anything i want when your back here?â She asks as your husband raises his eyebrow and chuckles softly, trying to predict the little oneâs answer âYes honey, tell me anything you want or want to do. Now, what does my baby want?âÂ
âYouâll play princess-princess with me!â
jay thinks, about the time when yeorum watched her first ever disney princess film, where her eyes first caught the glammed up looks and the pretty dresses, she wanted to recreate it on her dad. Well, she actually wanted to do it on you but then she claimed, âeomma sâalready a princessâÂ
Jay sat on the floor of the living room, smiling as yeorum carefully applies makeup to his face. Sheâs holding a small brush with great concentration, her tongue poking out in focus as she sweeps bright eyeshadow across his eyelids.
âclose your eyes, appa!â she says with a giggle. He obliges, chuckling softly. She hums a little tune while she works, drawing thick lines around his eyes and then reaching for the lipstick.Â
âYou look just like a princess!â She says passing the mini pink hand mirror to her now pretty appa.
Just as heâs about to comment on his new look, his phone buzzes on the table. He picks it up and his expression shifts from amused to concerned. âOh, man. Iâll be there in 10 minutes donât worryâ
Yeorum looks up at him with wide eyes, her signature disappointed pout evident on her face. âAppa, you have to see how pretty you look first!â she insists, holding up a small handheld mirror.
He glances at his reflection and stifles a laugh. âWow, I look⊠amazing, baby.â But thereâs no time to fully appreciate her artistry. He rushes to the bathroom to wash it off, only to find that the eyeliner and lipstick wonât budge. His heart sinks as he scrubs harder, but the marks remain stubbornly in place. Walking past the washroom, a distressed jay catching your attention. You walk over keeping a hand on his shoulder as he flinches, âOh my god.. is it not coming off?â You say slowly getting worried and tensed yourself.Â
âYeorum-ahâ you call out, trying to keep your voice calm, âwhat did you use to do appaâs makeup?â
She proudly holds up a set of colorful markers. âThese! They were in your drawer!âHe groans inwardly as he realizes sheâs used permanent markers. His meeting is in ten minutes, and thereâs no way to get it off in time. Double fuck.
âShit. What do we do jay?â You say, trying to rub the eyeliner of his face. With no other option, he throws on a hat and large sunglasses, hoping theyâll hide most of it. As he heads out the door, kissing you and yeorum goodbye. She waves cheerfully. âGood luck appa! You look so fancy!â
He forces a smile, knowing this is going to be an interesting day at work.
You could say, to this day youâre grateful that she didnât glam you up.Â
It finally lift yeorumâs mood up after jay promised her he would once again, play the game with her. Now deep asleep in her room, your and your husbandâs laugther echoes as you reminisced about that day. This time youâll make sure to hide all the permanent markers from the drawer.Â
As your giggles go quiet, suddenly feeling shy as jay looks at you through the screen with those lovestruck eyes.
âHiâ you say, voice sweet and soft. âHiâ jay says as he brings the phone closer to his face, eyes shifting between you and the camera every then and now.
âYou look beautiful, did i tell you that yet?â He adds, As the words left his lips, you felt a warm blush creeping up your cheeks. Your smile widened, almost uncontrollably, and you glanced down, biting your lower lip to suppress the giggle bubbling up inside of you.
He caught the change in your demeanor and chuckled, his voice low and full of affection. âWhat? Did I say something wrong?â he teased, leaning a little closer to the camera, his eyes twinkling with mischief.
âyeah i heard that a couple of times todayâ He grinned, unable to contain his own laughter now, the sound of it mixing with yours in a harmonious, joyous melody. You both knew that the words you shared were simple, but it was the way he said it, the way you looked at each other, that made you feel like teenagers in love.
You tilt your head âItâs hard convincing her you know..â you start, âwhen i feel the same, lonely without you.â you start to smile a little as jay raises his eyebrows and smiles back at you âI know, no wonder where she got this trait from.â he jokes as red tint appears on your cheeks, âBut i know, i love you and i miss you every single moment honey.â He says, bringing his camera close to his lips as he kisses it.Â
Back in the cockpit, jay adjusts his headset and catches a glimpse of his family photo pinned near his control panel. He takes a deep breath, a mix of longing and determination in his eyes. He knows his absence is hard on them, but he holds onto the thought of their reunion, using it as motivation to get through the flight.

sypnosisïčafter a few months of dating, you find out you were just a bet.
part two !
â LEE HEESEUNG (wc 0.3k)
you and lee heeseung has been dating for a total of five months, and throughout those months you can confidently say that you were the happiest. he was the perfect boyfriend, his family loved you and so did yours.
today, heeseung promised he would take you on a date after his basketball practice despite your protests on how he should be resting instead. you wouldn't have agreed if it weren't for the fact that he had shot you with his pleading big doe eyes that never fails to make you agree on whatever he asks for.Â
so here you were, making your way towards the gymnasium with your bag hanging on your left shoulder. the lack of dribbling and smacking basketball noise from behind the closed doors told you that their practice was done.
entering quietly out of habit, you were about to approach your boyfriend when you overheard his teammates talking to him.
"don't tell me you're still with her?" asked one of boys, an amused smile on his face. heeseung only raised a brow.
"what? you won the bet, you can dump her now. you're ruining our image you know? plus she's a total nerd and loser, you're much better with someone like yunhee." and with only just a few words, you felt your world crashing down.
right, who would date someone like you? you always found it weird, that heeseung just approached you one day in your biology class with the cheekiest smile on his face. the fact that he wouldn't leave you alone until you've agreed to go on a date with him. it all made sense now, why the popular basketball captain suddenly gained interest on the school's "biggest nerd."
"speaking of.." another guy spoke, nodding towards you with a cheeky smile. heeseung turned around only to be met with your glassy eyes.
you didn't move, wanting to hear him defend you. wanting to tell his teammates that you weren't a bet and he actually liked you throughout the months you two have been dating.
his silence said everything and with that you turned away and ran out of the gym.
"shit." he muttered, running after you.
â PARK JONGSEONG (wc 0.3k)
"i'll pick you up later, okay?" your boyfriend of almost a year said softly through the phone. you've been dating jay since the first week of your first year in uni, others found your relationship weird. maybe because back in high school, jay never and refused to even spare you a glance. he was an asshole who looked at you as if you were the epitome of disgusting.
but the past is in the past now, right?
"okay baby, see you." you reply and put your phone down on your table, knowing that he's usually the one who ends the call.
you go back to the papers scattered on your table. the silence in your room was disturbed by sudden noises in your phone, turning to look, you see that jay hasn't ended the call.
picking your phone up with a smile, you were about to call out for him but a voice stopped you.
"i can't believe you've gone this far dude." you recognized the slightly muffled voice, it was a friend of jongseong's.
"what do you mean?" your boyfriend grumbled. the audio was muffled, you figured he was moving and the phone was in his pocket.
"you're still dating her!" the voice exclaimed, as if amused. "seriously, i didn't think you'd take that bet seriously. fine you win, i'll clean your car for a month. but you've gotta cut it out, you're starting to disgust me." the boy laughed.
before you could hear what your boyfriend would say, you ended the call. your hand was trembling and tears were falling from your eyes unconsciously.
were all those months just a joke to him? were your feelings really worth a free car wash for just a month? were you that unworthy?
jay was an asshole back in high school, you thought he changed. turns out he didn't, you felt like a fool for falling for his antics.
â SIM JAEYUN (wc 0.3k)
if someone would be asked who you were, they'd all say the same thing. a loner, pathetic loser, and a nobody with a pretty face.
because what was a pretty face if you had no friends and a social life?
you almost believed you would die alone, you were too socially awkward to make friends. so when sim jaeyun, the transferee, approached you with a warm smile and a hand outstretched for a shake, you were beyond shocked.
your relationship went from being block mates, friends, then next thing you knew you two were dating. at first you were reluctant to enter a relationship, scared that it would ruin your friendship, but he insisted you both tried. that was three months ago.
you didn't have any friends, but atleast you had jake.
jake who smiles at you as if you had carved the stars in your hands. jake who would never forget to bring your coffee every morning. he was everything you ever needed. he was it for you, you only hoped he felt the same towards you.
walking through the hallway of the school, you stopped infront of your locker only to be met with a sticky note on it.
HOW LONG CAN JAKE LAST WITH LOSER L/N?
A WEEK : ć - ć - ć - ć - III
FIVE MONTHS : ć - I
A YEAR : II
Furrowing your brows, you stare at the note as your breathing grew heavy. It was obvious that the paper was old, it had folds and it was only stuck on your locker with a washi tape.
"what are you doing l/n? go on, cast your vote." a mocking voice said from beside you followed by a bunch of laughter. "personally, i thought he'd last a day. i guess i'll vote for five months then." then the hand went and tallied on the five months category.
"what's going on here?" upon hearing your boyfriend's voice, you fled away immediately, not wanting to face him. everytime something good happens in your life, it's always ripped away from you. jake was just like them, you were just a toy for their own entertainment.
â PARK SUNGHOON (wc 0.5k)
"i'm sorry baby, i really am busy with practice tomorrow." your boyfriend, sunghoon, says in genuine sorry. it was the fifth time you have asked him to meet your parents, who also by the way was so desperate to meet the boy you've been dating for seven months now.
every time you ask him, he's always busy. either with practice, a project, a family matter, or whatever excuse he can come up with. but you always brush it off, knowing he means well and he really is busy as he's an athlete student.
"i'll meet them next week, okay? i promise." that's also the same thing he says everytime too, and once again, you only nod in response.
you and sunghoon met in a physics class. he was clutching his head with a frown on his face as he desperately tried to understand what the professor was going on about.
you remember clearly the way he approached you in the library, a physics book on his left hand as his right scratched his nape. "can.. i noticed- uh, can you help me with this topic?"
that was where your relationship started. you tutored him and helped him improve his grade. when he got an A on the finals, he kissed you on the lips in glee. he was taken aback by his own actions but nevertheless asked you out after.
"i love you," he whispers, pressing a kiss on your temple. "let me get something from my room." you hum in response as he takes his arm that was previously wrapped around you before going up to his room.
you can't help but notice the way his phone was blowing up from beside you.
you weren't the type to snoop around other people's phones, especially your boyfriend. it just felt wrong, you trusted him fully. but the way it kept ringing with text notifications, you just couldn't help it.
looking back to the stairs, you note he isn't back and there was still rummaging noises from his room.
taking his phone, you enter his passcode and read the messages from one of his group chats.
JONGSU
lol don't tell me she asked again.. em ba rrah sing
DAEHYUN
hahah when is she gonna take a hint?? đ
JOON
you gonna blame her? hoon's been at it for months lmao
DAEHYUN
i actually can't believe he went that far, wasn't it only supposed to be for a month? đż
JONGSU
a week actually, but ig that bitch y/n was so easy. yk hoon likes to get his ego fed đđ
putting the phone down, you exhaled in disbelief. you took your bag from the floor and threw it over your shoulder and went to the door of his apartment to put your shoes back on.
"baby?" sunghoon emerged from the stairs, looking at you curiously. "you're going already?" he asked, extending an arm towards you but you slapped it away. the tears on your eyes shocking him.
"hey, hey what's wrong?" he tried again but his hand was yet again slapped away.
"i don't want to see you ever again." was the last words you uttered to him (shakily) before leaving his apartment.

His laugh you'd die for, his laugh you'd die for
The kind that colors the sky...
every first monday of the month brought a unique buzz to the broadcasting club. it wasnât just about club projects or the regular announcementsâthere was something else in the air, something that made your heart race a little faster. it was the day jungwon, the school body president, would step through the door for his monthly broadcast. to everyone else, it was just routineâan official duty where the admired campus figure would deliver school updates. but to you, it was more than that. it was the one time you could be near him without arousing suspicion.
you, the disciplined and respected president of the broadcasting club, known for your flawless grades and no-nonsense attitude, and jungwon, the schoolâs golden boy, adored by every girl who passed him in the hallway. on the surface, you were nothing more than polite acquaintancesâjust two student leaders crossing paths for official business. but beneath that carefully crafted facade, there was so much more that the rest of the school didnât know.
today, like clockwork, you heard that familiar knock at the door. straightening up, you cleared your throat, trying to act as composed as ever.
âcome in,â you called out, keeping your voice steady.
jungwon stepped inside, and the usual chatter of the club quieted down. he smiled politely, his gaze quickly scanning the room until it landed on you. but as usual, you pretended not to notice, staying focused on the papers in front of you.
âhereâs the announcement script,â you said, handing it to him without so much as a second glance. your heart pounded, but you maintained your distant, professional facade.
as he took the script from you, his fingers brushed yoursâjust for a secondâand it sent a wave of warmth rushing through you. he didnât meet your eyes, but you knew what that touch meant. behind the polite smile he wore in front of your club members, there was something more. and you wanted to believe no one noticed the way his fingers lingered, even if just for a heartbeat.
sunghoon, your vice president, leaned back in his chair, completely unaware of the tension. âiâll review the schedule with y/n before we finalize it. right, president?â he asked, smiling at you like always.
âright,â you replied, forcing a smile back, though your mind was elsewhere. you caught jungwonâs jaw clench slightly, something only you could notice. he had heard the rumorsâthe whispers around school that you and sunghoon looked like the âperfect couple.â people shipped you two together, even though sunghoon was just a good friend who had no interest in relationships. jungwon never mentioned it, but you could tell it bothered him more than he let on.
as jungwon left the room, a small part of you wondered if that would be your last interaction for the day, but you knew better.
to everyone else, it was official business as usual: the president visiting the broadcasting club to announce the schoolâs plans and upcoming events. but to you and jungwon, there was an unspoken connection woven into these formalities, hidden beneath the surface of your perfectly poised exteriors. and then there was sunghoonâyour broadcasting clubâs vice presidentâalways by your side, unaware of the subtle, electric tension that hung between you and jungwon during these monthly meetings.
today, as you navigated the bustling hallways of your school, you could feel eyes on you. it wasnât unusual; as the strict, organized, and admired president of the broadcasting club, people often looked up to you. but the whispers and glances lately were different, especially when sunghoon walked beside you.
âthey look so good together.â
âi swear, they must be secretly dating.â
âsheâs always with him. itâs just like one of those romance novels.â
you heard the whispers and pretended not to care. you and sunghoon had always been close friends, working seamlessly together, and despite what people said, you knew there was nothing romantic between you. but there was someone else who wasnât as indifferent to those rumors.
as you entered your classroom later that morning, your gaze drifted down the hallway, half-expecting to see jungwon pass by on his way to class. your heart skipped a beat when you spotted him. he walked with that calm, composed air, surrounded by a group of his friends. the girls nearby were in full swoon mode, whispering excitedly the moment he appeared. jungwon was the definition of the campus crushâhandsome, charming, and utterly out of reach for most.
you quickly looked down, busying yourself with your notes. jungwon couldnât approach you, not here, not with so many eyes on him. but as his footsteps drew nearer, you froze. was he really coming over? the air around you tensed, your fingers tightening around your pen. please donât. not in front of everyoneâŠ
and then, he walked straight toward your deskâbut not to you. instead, he leaned over to your classmate, the one seated directly in front of you.
âhey,â jungwon said casually, flashing that easygoing smile that made every girlâs heart flutter. âcan i borrow that biology book you mentioned last week?â
your heart sank and surged all at once. he wasnât here for youâbut then again, maybe he was. his left hand rested on your desk as he spoke to your classmate, his fingers so close you could feel the warmth radiating from them. you glanced down, glaring at his hand as though it had betrayed you. did he really have to lean on your desk?
your classmate handed him the book, completely oblivious to the silent turmoil you were in. jungwon didnât look at you, but you could sense the faintest hint of a smirk pulling at the corner of his lips.
âthanks,â he said smoothly, turning to leave. but before he walked away, his hand brushed over your desk once more, as if to remove something heâd forgotten. you glanced down after he left and saw itâwrapped candy with a crumpled note tucked beneath.
your fingers trembled as you carefully unfolded the note, glancing around to make sure no one was watching. the message inside was simple, but it made your heart race:
âhi gorgeous, i miss u :( just want to tell you how much i want to hold your hand right now. CU l8r <3â
a smile tugged at your lips despite your best efforts to remain composed. you crumpled the note back into your palm, hiding it away before anyone noticed. that brief interaction had felt like an eternity, and your heart still raced from the near disaster of him actually talking to you. but now, all you could think about was the note, and the secret rendezvous waiting after school.
the day crawled by, and soon enough, the afternoon bell signaled the time for jungwonâs monthly broadcast. the familiar hum of equipment filled the broadcasting room as you and sunghoon prepared for the transmission. you kept things professional as always, though you could sense the mounting tension.
when jungwon arrived, the atmosphere shifted instantly. his usual calm demeanor was in place, but you saw the slight flicker in his eyes when he glanced at you standing next to sunghoon. it was subtleâjust a brief tightening of his jaw, a flicker of something unspokenâbut you knew what it meant.
you handed him the microphone, nodding as you spoke in your most official voice. âthe floor is yours, president.â
âthank you,â jungwon replied, taking the mic with practiced ease.
as jungwon spoke into the mic, laying out the plans for the month, you kept your eyes on the monitor, pretending to focus on the broadcast. his voice was smooth and steady, but you couldnât ignore the way it made your heart skip.
â...and as we move into the second semester, we look forward to increased collaboration between our students and the research institute,â jungwon announced, his voice echoing through every classroom.
you felt a tug, something beyond the words, and against your better judgment, you glanced at him. to your surprise, he was already looking at you. just for a second, his eyes held yours before he turned back to the camera. it was quickâbarely noticeableâbut it sent a flutter through your chest.
in that tiny moment, you knew. even with the whole school listening, it felt like the words were just for you.
meanwhile, sunghoon remained oblivious, casually checking the sound levels as jungwon spoke. he leaned back in his chair, totally unaware of the silent storm brewing between you and jungwon.
the broadcast ended without a hitch, and jungwon handed the mic back to you. âgood job,â you said, keeping your voice professional.
âthanks,â jungwon replied. he was all business now, but as he walked past you toward the door, his fingers brushed your hand, a fleeting touch meant only for you.
sunghoon, who was packing up the equipment, didnât notice a thing. you wished you could feel the same ease, but every time sunghoon stood close to you, or when he smiled too casually, you felt the weight of jungwonâs gaze, the jealousy simmering beneath his calm surface.
after school, you took your usual route, heading in the opposite direction from jungwon as always. the two of you were carefulâno one could suspect that the broadcasting club president and the school body president were secretly dating. but as you turned down the familiar alleyway behind the school, there he was, leaning against the brick wall, waiting for you with that familiar mischievous smile. the moment your eyes met, you felt the weight of the day melt away.
âhey,â he said softly, his voice no longer the cool, composed tone of the school president, but warm and affectionateâjust for you.
âhey,â you replied, your smile growing as you walked toward him.
without saying a word, he slipped your backpack off your shoulders and pulled you into his arms, his fingers intertwining with yours like it was the most natural thing in the world. in that moment, the tension of the dayâthe whispers, the teasing, the rumorsâmelted away. everything faded the instant you were alone with him, the world outside forgotten.
âyou have no idea how hard it was to keep a straight face during that broadcast,â he murmured against your hair. âstanding there, talking to the entire school, while you were right there next to sunghoon.â
you smiled into his chest, feeling the warmth of his embrace. âsunghoon? really? you know he doesnât care about the rumors. heâs just doing his job.â
jungwon sighed, resting his chin on your head. âi know. but still⊠i hate that people keep pairing you two together.â
âi donât care what they think,â you replied softly. âi only care about you.â
jungwon smiled down at you, his eyes filled with affection as he laced his fingers through yours. âi know. and thatâs all that matters.â he gently tugged you closer, his forehead resting against yours. âbut sometimes i wish i could justââ
âjust what?â you teased, smiling at how cute he looked when he was flustered.
he hesitated for a moment, before breaking into a mischievous grin. âsometimes i just want to make it obvious to everyone that youâre mine. forget all the secrecy.â
you laughed softly, your heart fluttering at his words. âwe canât, remember? the school would lose its mind.â
jungwon groaned, his hand tightening around yours. âi know. but i miss you so much during the day. all those girls swooning over me in the hallway⊠itâs hard not to tell them iâm already taken.â
âwell,â you said, leaning in closer, your lips brushing his cheek, âyou donât have to worry. iâm the only one who gets to hold your hand after school.â
he chuckled softly, squeezing your hand. âand i wouldnât have it any other way.â
âi missed you,â jungwon murmured softly, his thumb gently brushing against your hand. âit felt like forever since i last saw you.â
his voice, low and tender, sent a warmth through you that rivaled the sunlight, and you couldnât help but smile at how much those simple words made your heart flutter.
you laughed softly, squeezing his hand. âyou saw me at lunch. in fact, you nearly gave me a heart attack.â
he smirked, clearly proud of himself. âwhat? borrowing a book from your classmate isnât allowed anymore?â he teased, though his eyes sparkled with something more.
âyou know exactly what you were doing,â you shot back, playfully nudging him. âleaving a note like that? what if someone had seen it?â
âno one did,â jungwon replied smoothly, pulling you closer to him. âbesides, i like the thrill of almost getting caught.â
you rolled your eyes, though the smile tugging at your lips was impossible to hide. âyouâre impossible.â
âbut you love me anyway,â he said softly, his thumb brushing over your knuckles. there was a gentleness in his voice, one that only came out when it was just the two of you.
you leaned into him, resting your head against his shoulder as the world around you grew quieter. in the dim light of the alley, away from prying eyes, the two of you could finally be yourselvesâno rumors, no pretenses. just you and jungwon, hand in hand, hearts racing in sync.
âi do,â you whispered, closing your eyes as you let yourself sink into the comfort of his presence. âi love you.â
the words felt like a promise, a secret meant only for the two of you. and in that moment, nothing else mattered.

You were sitting on your couch with a glass of wine in your hand, watching whatever show you had thrown on the TV. Letting it play while you ate your dinner that had just been delivered a little while ago. Sunoo was supposed to come and hang out with you tonight, and you were going to binge-watch the new show that the both of you wanted to start. But he ended up calling it off at the last second, saying that his girlfriend had something really important that she wanted to talk to him about.
Of course, you let it go, knowing that it would be pointless to argue about it because he would always put his girlfriend first. I mean, they have been together for four years now, and Sunoo had talked to you about asking her to marry him.
You, however, never liked her. Not that she liked you much, either. She never put Sunooâs needs first, and god forbid that he put his needs first. You were honestly just waiting for the day that she finally got tired of Sunoo and ended things.
Just as you were about to take another sip of your wine, a loud knock was heard from your front door, causing you to jump. Curious as to whom it may be, you sat your glass down and rose to your feet. Walking over, you unlocked the door, pulled it open, and a smile spread across your face when you found Sunoo standing there.
âSunoo! I thought you were with SakiâŠâ Your voice trialed on when Sunoo lifted his face showcasing the tears that were flowing down his face. âWhatâs wrong?â Worry laced in your tone as you reached out to grab his arm and pull him inside.
âShe cheated.â His voice was quiet as he kicked his shoes off, more tears flowing from his eyes.
âWhat?â You were shocked. Sure, you didnât like the girl and hoped their relationship would end, but not like this. Sunoo was the last person who deserved this kind of mistreatment.
âS-She cheated on me, y/n.â He repeated his words, nearly choking as sobs racked his body.
âOh, Sun.â Your lips turned downward as you pulled him into a hug, letting him cry into your shoulder.Â
Eventually, the two of you moved to your couch, and Sunoo lay against you, completely exhausted from all of the drama. His head lay in your lap as you ran your fingers through his pitch-black hair, and you could tell that he was starting to calm down.
âDid you wanna talk about what happened Sun?â You spoke softly, brushing a few strands out of his face as he turned to look up at you.
He thought about it for a few moments, and you reassured him that if he didnât want to talk about it, you werenât going to force him to. But he just shook his head before wrapping his arms around your waist.
âWe were supposed to hang out at her place tonight and watch the new movie she wanted to watch.â He started, and you already had an idea as to where it was going, âwhen I got there, she was⊠wasâŠâ His words caught in his throat as he recalled what happened, and you ran your fingers through his hair once more, nails scraping against his scalp soothingly. âShe was with some other guy, and when she realized that I was there, she just smirked and told me that I couldnât blame her for seeking the pleasure that I never gave her before going back toâŠâ Sunoo trailed on as a new stream of tears fell from his eyes, and you comforted him.
âMy god Sunoo, you didnât deserve that.â You whispered, watching as he buried his face into your stomach as he cried. âShh, Sun, let it all out.âÂ
And he did, he cried for what felt like hours before he inevitably cried himself to sleep in your lap. You let out a sigh as you watch him sleep, his face red and puffy from the long period of crying, some teardrops still stuck to his eyelashes. It hurt your heart so much seeing him like this, you wished that you could take all of his pain and let him live peacefully.
It made you angry that Saki was so cruel as to do something awful to Sunoo when all he did was care for and love her. She didnât deserve him, and almost everyone around knew it, but Sunoo was far too in love to see those signs. He loved her with all of his heart, and sadly, it cost him the same thing in the end.
You were getting ready to shift around to get comfortable with Sunoo when you heard the sound of his phone going off. Looking down, you noticed that it had slipped out of his hoodie pocket, and usually, you werenât one to snoop. However, seeing Sakiâs contact pop up, you couldnât help the bitter taste that filled your mouth.
Without a second thought, you grabbed the phone and hit the green answer button before holding it up to your face. âWhat do you want, Saki?â
Your tone was bitter, which on elitches a smug laugh from the girl on the other side of the line, her arrogance pissing you off to no end.
âOf course, he ran off to you.â Her tone was cocky as she spoke to you, and it made your blood boil, âwhereâs Sunoo?â
You bit your tongue so as to not go off on the girl despite how badly you wanted to before taking in a breath. âThatâs none of your concern, and for the record, that was a pretty dick move you pulled. Sunoo was the last person to deserve that.âÂ
âOh, please, you can drop the self-righteous act, y/n. No one is buying it. Plus, we both know itâs only time before he comes knocking on my door.â Saki stated nonchalantly, and you were seconds away from exploding.
âNot if I have anything to do about it.â Your tone was snarky before you hung up the phone, not giving her a chance to say anything more. You then went through his phone and made sure to block her on everything because you werenât about to give her a chance to worm her way back into Sunooâs life.
âWho was that?â Sunoo stirred in your lap, his doe eyes blinking up at you, sleep still evident in his gaze.
You smiled down at him, running his fingers through his hair once more with a soft smile as all of the annoyance melted away. âWrong number. Come on, let's go to bed.âSunoo nodded before following you to your bedroom, and you watched with a solemn look as he climbed into your bed, snuggling up in your blankets. You made a vow that you would never let another soul hurt Sunoo if it were the last thing that you would do.

It had been a year since the car accident happened that completely changed Jake. The doctor told you that he was lucky to survive the head injury that he had suffered. He also told you that the damage that had been done was irreversible and that he would suffer from mental issues. At first, you didnât know what he meant until you and Jake were able to go home.
The first few weeks were easy enough, making sure that your boyfriend was comfortable while he heals. However, after the second month, you started to notice the changes. Some days he was the same old Jake that you had fallen in love with.
âÂ
When you woke up, it was a little after eight in the morning. Jake was still sleeping peacefully next to you. His lips jutted out into a small pout as he snored softly, causing you to smile. Quietly slipping out of bed, you walked into the kitchen to make breakfast.
Not even twenty minutes pass after you make it to the kitchen when you feel a pair of arms wrap around your body. "Whyâd you leave?â He whines into your neck, and he nuzzles his face into the crook of your neck, causing you to giggle from the ticklish feeling.
âIâm gonna cook breakfast, dork.â You ruffled his hair before turning to go back to the task at hand.
He was like a clingy puppy the entirety of the morning, either glued to you or watching from a close distance. Either way, there was always less than five feet between you, but you didnât mind.
â
Those days normally went super well. You would finish cooking so you could eat together before either chilling at home all day or even going out if Jake was feeling up to it. You felt like the happiest person on the planet with an amazing boyfriend who loved you dearly.
But then there were those days that he wasnât.
â
âWhere the fuck is it?!â You were rudely awoken by the sounds of Jake shouting; sitting up in bed, you looked around the room only to narrowly dodge a flying object that was being hurled at you. With wide eyes you found Jake rummaging through your dresser, clothes everywhere.
âJake, what are you doing?â You asked carefully, already fully aware of how he was when he was like this. This wasnât the normal Jake. He had turned into someone completely different.
Every time he ended up like this, it was the same story over and over again. He was looking for something, angry that he couldnât find it. When it happened the first few times, you tried to ask him what he was looking for, but at some point, you found it pointless because he would never tell you.
Instead, he would blame you for hiding it from him and start to interrogate you. He never got physically violent with you, not until here recently. Itâs not like he would hit you, but he would grab you roughly and jerk you around like you were a ragdoll that would usually bruise the next day. Days like this made you worry not only for your own well-being but also Jakeâs, scared that he would hurt himself.
The room went silent as Jake stopped his rummaging to turn and look at you, a crazed look in his eyes. You swallowed thickly, fingers curling around the blanket that covered your body. He then moved towards you with precise movement making your heart lurch.
âDid you touch it?â He asked, his voice calm, and normally that would ease your mind, but at this moment, you knew that it was just a second before he blew up. When you didnât answer him, Jake grabbed your shoulders, almost like a snake lunging for its prey. His fingers dug into your skin, making you cry out in pain, tears stinging in your eyes. âWhere did you put it?!â His voice rose, scaring you even more.
âI donât know what youâre looking for, Jake!â You cried, trying to pry his hands off of your shoulders, the pain almost becoming unbearable. âJake, youâre hurting me; please let go.âÂ
The crazed look in Jakeâs eyes slowly started to fade away until he was back to the Jake that you knew and loved. His eyes went wide as he took in the terrified look on your face, quickly releasing you, and you moved back a little bit.
âBabyâŠâ He called out, his hand reaching for your face, but when you flinched away, he felt his heart drop. It happened again, and he scared you. He hurt you. Tears started to spill from his eyes as he dropped into your lap, apologies spewing from his lips like a broken record.
â
Those were the days that you felt terrified in your own home, walking around on eggshells because there was no telling when he would snap out of it. Or if he even would. There were times when it would only last as little as ten minutes, but there had been a few times when it lasted for days, and you werenât sure if you would survive those days.
So when you couldn't take it anymore and were scared beyond belief, you contacted Jakeâs doctor. Scared that he would inevitably do something he couldnât take back, you discussed the options before deciding to have Jake admitted. You knew Jake wouldnât agree to being admitted, scared that he would never see you again. He would tell you that he would control it and he would never hurt you, but he never could.Â
âHello, Dr. Lee.â You greeted the older male as you walked into his office with Jake right on your heel.
âHello, y/n. Jake.â He greeted both of you as he motioned to the seats on the opposite side of his desk. "Please have a seat.âÂ
Jake was under the assumption that he was just coming in for his normal examination, his leg shaking as he sat down, biting on his nails. Seeing him like this made you feel terrible, but it only made you feel worse when you watched the nurses come in to grab him.
Tears welled up in your eyes as you watched him fight against their hold, begging for you to help him. You could clearly see the fear in his eyes, and it shattered your heart. They eventually sedated him before pulling him from the room, leaving you with the doctor.
âI know itâs hard, but itâs for his own good.â Dr. Lee reassured you, his hand patting your shoulder before recommending that you go home and try to relax. He then told you that he would give you another call when Jake was fully settled in, and you could come to see him.
You could only nod, your voice completely gone. How were you supposed to go home and relax when you felt like you had just betrayed the person you cared the most about? It tore you to pieces, and even after you saw Jake and he was doing better, you still felt like a terrible person.
But you knew that it was the right choice because there was no telling what he would have done if you hadnât gotten him the help that he neededâŠ

âCongratulations Mrs. Park,â The doctor smiled at you sweetly as he handed you the test report. You looked down with glossy eyes, reading the words over and over in your head.
âPregnantâ
It felt like a dream come true. You had just gotten a massive promotion at work, so you would be bringing home more money for yourself and Sunghoon. You were entirely grateful that you could support him while he continued his studies, and now you could even start growing your own family with him.
After quickly thanking the doctor, you made your way out of the hospital into the waiting car parked in front of the building. The driver greeted you with a smile as he held the door open for you, his hand covering the top to protect you from hitting your head.
âAre we headed home, Maâam?â He asked as he got into the driver's seat, starting up the car, causing a low rumble to be heard around you.
Returning his smile through the rearview mirror, you nodded, âYes.â
Then, with a nod of his head, he turned his attention back to the road in front of you, pulling out of the parking lot. You settled into your seat, hands resting in your lap with the test results and your eyes staring out the window. A happy grin spread on your lips at the thought of telling Sunghoon about all of the good news that you had received.
Just then, you felt your phone buzz in your hands, tearing your gaze away from the window. Turning your screen on, you see a message from your best friend, Yeji, who also just happens to be Sunghoonâs little sister. A giddy feeling bubbles in your chest at the thought of telling her that she was going to be an aunt soon, but when you opened your phone, all of that happiness that you once felt washed away in an instant.
âWhere are you y/n? Have you seen the news?â
Her question worried you, had something happened to Sunghoon or either of your families? Panicked, you quickly backed out of the messages and into the first social media app you found. It took you a few moments and reloads before it finally popped up.
And bile rose up the back of your throat.
You reread the headlines over and over and over and over again, and you so deeply wished that your first worry had been true instead of this.
âThe Renowned Son of the Park's, Park Sunghoon, Seems to Have Reverted Back to His Old Playboy Ways.â
Tears blur your vision as you read more before looking at the pictures and videos of Sunghoon sitting in a nightclub with females surrounding him, some perched on his lap, his hands in places a married man definitely shouldnât have his hands in. Completely in awe, you backed out with shaky hands and went back to message Yeji, asking her if she knew which nightclub he was at. She gave you the name and address before telling you that she would meet you there.
âChange of plans,â you said, leaning forward to talk to the driver, trying your best to keep the tears that pooled in your eyes at bay.
â
Anger and hurt bubbled in your gut as you stormed into the club, ignoring the people who greeted you along the way. The music that blared through the speakers made your head spin as the bass vibrated the ground beneath your feet. Steeling yourself, you looked around the packed room, trying to find that blonde male you knew was somewhere around here.
âAre you looking for someone, Miss?â A worker walked up to you with a smile, and you nodded slowly, closing your eyes and then going back to scan the crowd.
âIâm looking for my husband.â Your words were curt, and her smile faltered for a moment before she was able to replace it once more.
âWhatâs his name? I can see if heâs on our list.â She told you nicely despite the unease that was growing in her gut.
You opened your mouth to tell her your husband's name, but you were cut off when a hand landed on your shoulder and a voice was heard from behind you.
âPark Sunghoon,â Yeji told the worker, and the poor girl visibly paled, a ball forming in her throat as she looked between the pair of you. However, she was taking too long for both your and Yejiâs taste. "Do you or do you not know where he is?â
Swallowing thickly, the worker nodded her head before motioning behind her, âFollow me.â
Yeji laced her arm through yours as the both of you followed behind the girl, ignoring any and all of the looks you were receiving along the way. However, despite your best efforts to ignore the lingering comments, you couldnât ignore them all.
âIsnât that Mr. Parkâs wife?â someone off to your right whispered to her friend who sat next to her. "Has he finally been caught?â
Noticing where your attention was, Yeji tugged on your arm before nodding towards the table in the far back corner. There, sitting in the middle of the bench, one hand holding a half-empty glass of liquor and the other wrapped around another girlâs shoulder, was none other than your husband.
Seeing him act like this without a care in the world shot an arrow right through your heart. All of these years that you had worked your ass off to make sure that you both could live happily in the future seemed to have been in vain. Because while you were working overtime almost every night, he was out doing god knows what at this very nightclub.
âSunghoon, how could you?â Yeji was the first to speak, stomping her foot as she held onto your arm.
At the sound of his sister's voice, Sunghoonâs head snapped in your direction, a look of panic flashing across his features. He tore his arm around from the girl next to him and placed the glass on the table before he stood to his feet.
âY-Yeji, what are you doing here?â Sunghoon asked with a slight quiver in his tone. His eyes solely locked onto his sister, seeming to have not noticed you standing there next to her.
âHow could you be so shameless? Youâre cheating on y/n while sheâs out there working effortlessly to support you.â She scolded the older male and thatâs when he finally noticed you standing there next to his sister, tears clinging to your eyelashes as you just stared at him.
Even with all of the apparent evidence in front of you, you didnât want to believe that he could actually do something like this to you. Your eyes then flickered up to meet his, panic and guilt swirling in his dark irisâ.
âY/nââ
âHow long?â You cut him off, biting your tongue to keep the tears that so desperately wanted to fall at bay.Â
Sunghoon moved around the table to reach out towards you, âI wasnâtââ
âHow. Long?â You enunciate each word as you take a step away from him, wanting to keep as much distance between you as possible.
âSix months.â He breathed out, his shoulders slumping and his head dropping down, guilt starting to eat at the back of his mind.
You felt a lump form in your throat as you stared at him, completely astonished; your hand instinctively went to your stomach. Recalling the doctor's test results, you were only a month or so along, meaning that while he lay with you in bed, he was also keeping other women company as well. You suddenly felt sick to your stomach, causing you to hunch over.
âY/n!â Yeji exclaimed, grabbing onto your arms tightly and helping you stand back onto your feet.
Sunghoon moved to grab a hold of you as well, but you shoved his hands away. A glare adorned your features as you looked up at him.
âIf this is what you want, then donât let me stop you.â Your tone was bitter, and your eyes burned with tears as you held onto Yeji. "But donât expect me to be waiting when you get home.â
Yeji then helped you turn to walk away, but of course, Sunghoon wasnât going to give up that easily. He reached out, grabbing your arm to make you turn to look at him.
âPlease, y/n, we can talk about this.â His eyes pleaded with you, but all of the sympathy that you once felt for him was gone, smothered with his own two hands.
âThereâs nothing to talk about, but do me a favorâŠâ You once again shoved his hands away from you, silent tears falling from your glossy eyes, âsign the divorce agreement when my assistant brings it to you.â
And without another word you grabbed onto Yejiâs arm and walked with her back out of the nightclub, leaving Sunghoon there to stare at the spot you were once standing in. His whole world crumbled in just mere minutes.
You sat in your car, the silence almost comforting as your driver took both you and Yeji back to her place where you would be staying for the time being. Your hand then moved the rest on your stomach, your thumb brushing along your clothed abdomen.
âIâm sorry little one, but itâll be better this wayâŠâ You whispered as more tears spilled from your eyes.
Noticing your distress, Yeji wrapped her arm around you, pulling you into her side so you could rest your head against her shoulder. She tried her best to comfort you as you cried in her arms until you finally cried yourself to sleep, hoping that this all was just some cruel dream that you would wake up from in no time.
But you werenât in a dream and you would only wake up more heartbroken than when you had fallen asleep.

You aren't sure how your relationship when down the drain. Jay had always been sweet and caring, never once had you guys fought. Nothing like this.
âGod why aren't you listening to me?â He groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose while you stood merely feet away looking at him with a look that was nothing short of annoyed.
âListening to you? Have you not heard a word I've said this entire time?â The anger in your voice was very strong, much like your urge to just walk away because it seemed like this argument was going absolutely nowhere.
âFor fuck sakes y/n, I have listened to all of your bullshit. For years.â He threw his hands up, âI have dealt with it all because I thought I loved you.â
Suddenly you felt sick to your stomach. The very specific wore toward the end.
âThoughtâ
The room fell silent as you mauled over his words and Jay stood there, shocked as he realized what he had just said.
It took a few moments for you to look at him again, the words leaving your mouth in disbelief.
âThought? You thought you loved me?â The hurt in your tone made Jay want to rush over to comfort you, but at the same time, he felt so relieved that he was able to get it off his chest.
âYes. I thought I loved you, I tried so hard to love you but I just couldn't.â He omitted, causing your heart to drop.
All the earlier anger that you had felt flew out the window, replaced with hurt and sorrow. Your hands balled into fists at your side trying your best to keep from sobbing.
âDid you ever love me? Was everything a lie?â The tears that had welled up in your eyes were fighting so hard to fall, âWere you just fucking with me this entire time Jay?! Is this just some sick and twisted joke?â
Jay shook his head moving closer to you in the small bedroom, but you just moved a step back the moment he got closer.
âNo, no, no, it wasn't a lie. Not all of it at least.â He held his hands out hoping you would take them, but all you did was stare at him in disbelief. âI did love you in the beginning, so much. I saw a future with you, marriage, kids maybe, but thenâŠâ
âWhen? When Jay?â Your voice shook as the first few tears spilled from your eyes. Your once semi steady breathing started to become erratic.
âWhoa, whoa y/n calm down, please. You're going to have a panic attack.â He rushed over and grabbed your arms, however, you were quick to push him back.
âD-Don't touch me!â Your head started to spin as you stumbled back, clutching on to the wall for support.
âY/n!â Jay felt his heart drop as soon as your body collapsed to the ground. âHey! Look at me!â He drops to his knees, cupping your face in his hands and making you look at him despite you not wanting to.
âShit, shit, shit! You're the one that helps her with panic attacks not causes them dumbass!â
He tried everything he normally did to stop your panic attacks but for some reason this one was nothing like the others.
After a few moments of helplessly trying to help he did the only thing else he could think of.
In the next moment his lips were on yours and it felt as if the world went silent for a moment. The white noise in your head that you were drowning in, went silent.
You melted into his touch, all other thoughts about what just happened disappeared. Right out the window.
Until he pulled away.
âI'm sorry. I couldn't think of anything else.â He stood and took a step back, looking around the room trying to think of a solution.
âI should go.â
âJayââ
And just like that he was out the door, leaving you sitting on the ground. Tears falling from your eyes as you realize just how much Jay had actually hurt you.
But in the end, you still loved him.

To the outside world, you and Jay were seen as the âperfect coupleâ, the couple that everyone wished they could be. You lost count of how many times people complimented you both while you were out in public. It was almost too good to be true to some people, and wellâŠ
They would be correct.
Everything that everyone saw outside of the four walls of your and Jayâs shared home was just a front. The âloveâ that others saw was nothing more than a ploy, and the happiness was a farce.
It was all for the sake of your families. Even if you and Jay absolutely despise each other, it wasnât like you could just break up. No, you and he were both bound by a contract that both of your families put together.
As long as you and Jay were together, your families would profit from each other, becoming the wealthiest families in all of Korea. In the beginning, you thought that it might work out that you and Jay could get along.
Boy, were you wrong.
A good day would be when you were able to go about your day without running into Jay at all, meaning you avoided any and all arguments. However, a normal day would always end in some kind of argument, sometimes ending more severely than others. Today just happened to be one of those severe-level days.
You had just finished eating dinner and were heading to your room, hoping to miss Jay when he got home from work. As luck would have it, you didnât even make it up four steps before the front door opened. As soon as his eyes landed on you, a scowl fell on his features, causing you to roll your eyes. Not really wanting to argue with him, you started up the steps once more. But of course, you didnât make it very far without him saying something.
âWhereâs my dinner?â He asks, eyes glaring up at you as you stop once more.
âIt's in the fridge; if you want it warm, put it in the microwave," you told him blandly before taking another step.
âThe least you could do is make sure it's ready for me when I get home.â He scoffed, and you felt your blood start to boil.
Your tongue jutted out, wetting your lips as you turned around to face him, âIâm not your maid, Jay; if you want your dinner ready when you get home, have her do it. Iâm going to bed.â
Jay threw his coat onto the rack before kicking his shoes off, grumbling under his breath about how he just wanted this to end so he could go back to his normal life. You honestly found it so laughable whenever he talked about going back to his ânormalâ because all that meant was him being able to stick his dick in whatever bitch he could get his hands on.
âYa know, if you want your normal life back so bad, you can talk to our parents.â You turned to look at him once more, arms crossed over your chest, âgo back to sleeping around with random whores and throwing dirt on your family name.â You shrugged, a look of indifference on your face.
You had to bite your tongue as you watched rage wash over his features. A vein in his forehead looked as if it was a split second away from bursting. He glared at you, and boy, if looks could kill, you would be well over six feet in the ground.
âAs if you were much better, a bitch who kicked those who she deemed underneath her.â He growled, and you could feel anger bubbling in your gut, but you refused to give in to him this time. âUnlike you, I was popular among the people.â
You couldn't help but let out a short laugh, which only angered the male more: "Yeah, and unlike you, I was actually making a name for myself that didnât involve sleeping around.â
That hit a nerve, and you could tell by the dark look in Jayâs eyes as if he were ready to tear your head clean off of your neck, but you didnât give him a chance as you waved him off. Turning back around and starting your way back up the steps once more.
âOh, and if you talk to our parents, make sure to let them know that it was your idea.â You looked over your shoulder one last time, missing the deadly look in Jayâs eyes.
âYou are the one thing I hate more than I hate myself,â His words cut deep into your heart because as much as you act like you donât care, you do, and you wanted nothing more than for this marriage to work out, but it was just wishful thinking at this point.
So, inhaling deeply, you nodded your head and left him with a few words before disappearing up the stairs and into your room. You left him to stop dead in his tracks and stare at the spot where you once stood, a conflicted look crossing his features.
âAnd I could never hate you as much as I would like to.â

jungwon x enha đ one day won needs to clear his basement for a friend, though he surprisingly discovers a door, which is slightly open. being the curious fellow he is, he opens it. slight drabble ! not betaread
jungwon glared at the door infront of himâ he had been glaring for the past six minutes. staring at the bright crack, before stepping one foot at a time closer.
his eyes twitching as if there's some kind of monster behind that door. but once he opened it with caution, a bright field of vibrant flowers was seen. along with a stream slowly moving west.
he slowly stepped onto the grass, clothes changing in an instant as if he had entered a new world. now he was holding a tote bag, looking around curiously until he spotted a shoe, a red converse to be specific. laying in the grass, an ant was slowly crawling up it.
jungwon paused, looking back. the door seemed to have vanished, now he seemed to be stuck hereâ though the male didn't know for how long he was.
looking back at the shoe, he felt some sense of familiarity staring at it. as if he was trying to remember something but couldn't, gripping his tote bag before blurting out âsunghoon?â the name lingered in his head now, clearing his brain fog.
âsunghoon!â the name was yelled out again, though in a much panicked tone. jungwon frantically looked around, left and right. trying to spot the owner of the familiar name and the red converse.
but sunghoon was nowhere to be found, jungwon crouched down and took the shoe. looking up slowly to see the other one dangled onto a treebranch. he felt fuzzy, for some reason. but it went away when he heard a small branch snap.
sunghoon looked at him, wiggling his toes in the soft grass whilst having the dumbest grin on his face. âyes jungwon?â he answered; walking to the younger and looking up. âi wonder how my shoe got there.â
before jungwon could respond, he heard laughter in the distance. 2 guys came running alongside the stream, they were soaked but still didn't mind. he simply smiled at them before looking around again. opening his mouth to state something until he saw the door slowly appear.
âim sorry... i have to go! it was nice... hanging out with you?â awkwardly trying to find the right words to state as if the guys couldn't see the door and well they couldn't. âits alright jungwon-ah! go do your homework.â heeseung stated, looking off in the distance when he heard the laughter of his other friends.
now jungwon nodded, bowing slightly as he turned around and began walking to the now very visible door. his hand gripped onto the golden doorknob, twisting it before slowly walking inside. it was like nothing happened, turning around to look at the door before looking at the boxes infront of him.
grabbing the boxes and moving them where they belonged, before walking up. he looked at his friend jay who was scrolling on his phoneâ waiting for jungwon.
now letting his hand go, jungwon was busy crossing the road alongside jay. he managed to bump into someone though, looking up and seeing a familiar face; sunghoon.
jungwon bowed politely, muttering an apology. whilst sunghoon casually shrugged, watching jungwon run off to jay. and jungwon was rather shocked, slapping himself lightly and smiling at jay who was obviously clueless.
oh man this is brutally confusing.
authors note đ should i make this into a small series?? i honestly just came up with this right now,, so hmmm idk. sorry if it's short for you, really appreciate feedback đ
synopsis: youâll always be waiting for jungwon to finally reciprocate your feelings, but niki will always be waiting for you.
warnings: angst but its not that bad i promise u (i think), open ending(?), swearing i think, sullyoon (nmixx) mentioned, high school au, not proofread its so bad out here
a/n: this was purely written with no draft no outline no nothing everything came out of my ass so if its a little messy⊠u know why. and no part 3 sorry!!
Itâs been almost a month since Jungwon started dating Sullyoon, and you feel yourself starting to form unhealthy coping mechanisms. Niki, is of course, trying to not indulge in your coping mechanisms because he knows itâs not good in the end for you and that itâs not really coping, but heâs a little selfish because one of your unhealthy coping mechanisms is using him to distract yourself whenever Jungwon chooses to hang out with Sullyoon rather than you.Â
He knows he shouldnât, and he feels a little guilty and sick when you leave his house after crying into his chest for what seemed like the millionth time. But when he gets to touch your soft hair, your sniffles dying out after finding comfort within Niki even if he didnât really offer anything more than a couple soothing rubs to your back and playing with your hair, how can he not give in to you?Â
He also knows that heâd rather be the one you cry yourself to sleep with than any other guy, and just the thought of it makes him hold you tighter to his chest.Â
You, on the other hand, feel a little guilty as well. Youâre sure that Niki is tired of your crying and having to wash his shirts every time you leave because by the time youâre done, his shirt is wet and stained with your tears. You canât help it, because as much as you try to hate Sullyoon for being the one that Jungwon chose, sheâs too nice to you. Always giving you the warmest welcome hugs when you first greet her and Jungwon at their lockers, offering you her strawberry milk because she remembered that Jungwon said you liked strawberry milk, or brushing your hair for you when you walked into school looking like a trainwreck (you cried the night before and knocked out at Nikiâs).Â
You want to hate her so bad, itâs almost eating you inside over the fact that you simply canât, because she didnât do anything wrong. Itâs not her fault that Jungwon chose her over you, and you start to understand why he picked Sullyoon. You voice this one night to Niki on one of your walks back to your home, and Niki is actually angry at the fact that you think Sullyoon is any better than you.Â
He didn't say anything, he always listened. You think thatâs why it makes it so easy to talk to Niki about your feelings because you feel like heâs not judging you, despite his narrow eyes that many people think otherwise. You honestly hesitated helping him in ceramics two years ago because he always carried an intimidating aura, but youâre glad that you did. You wouldnât trade Niki for the world, heâs always there for you, and you acknowledge that.Â
âWonie!â Sullyoon calls out to him after catching up with him in the hallways, stopping by his side as she tries to catch her breath.Â
Jungwon stops and turns to look at her after just walking you to your class, and he smiles upon seeing his girlfriend. âHey! Whatâs up? Whyâre you late?â He asks while grabbing her by the shoulders, chuckling at her because she's just oh so cute.
Sullyoon stands back up straight, putting her hair behind her ear. âI lost track of time and had to run to make it! My mom refused to drive me,â she feigns a frown before linking arms with Jungwon and starting to walk to her class. âDid you just walk Y/n to their class just now? They have physics, right?â
Jungwon nods, âyeah, I did. Y/n hates physics, though,â he laughs, reminiscing about the time you two had science together last year and you caused the fire alarm to go off because of the smoke that you accidentally also caused. âY/n suck at any science, but itâs fine. Iâm sure theyâll pass anyway, Iâm helping them study for the test next week too.âÂ
Itâs not that Sullyoon dislikes it when Jungwon talks about you, itâs more of a bitter feeling, especially seeing his eyes light up differently when he talks to you versus herself. She thinks that maybe itâs just because she canât see it for herself because her friends all reassured her that her and Jungwon are so cute together. She convinces herself itâs just because you and Jungwon have been friends for forever, and that anyone would talk about their best friend like that. Plus, she could never think badly of you, ever. You two became closer after Jungwon asked her out, and she sees you as a close friend more than ever, and she trusts you around Jungwon.
She just doesnât know if she trusts Jungwon around you, though.Â
âAh,â she simply says, looking down at the floor. Itâs a little awkward for two minutes until they reach Sullyoonâs class. âSee you at lunch?â She asks with a smile on her face, and Jungwon nods with a grin before waving her goodbye and heading his way to his own class.Â
As Sullyoon walks inside the cafeteria, she immediately spots Jungwon, Niki, and you sitting at your usual table, and a smile makes her way onto her face as she quickly grabs her lunch and makes her way to the table.Â
âHi!â You beam upon seeing Sullyoon take her seat next to Jungwon. Youâre seated next to Niki and you sit across from Jungwon. Niki and Jungwon greet Sullyoon as well, and she says her helloâs in return.Â
âHow was class?â Jungwon asks, his head turning to Sullyoon, completely forgetting about the previous ongoing conversation you and him were having before Sullyoon arrived. Completely normal, you think. You eat your lunch in silence as the couple carry out a conversation on their own, while Niki is typing away at his phone.Â
You peer over, being the nosy person that you are. You see that heâs scrolling through Tiktok, and heâs stuck on a funny video that heâs been giggling at for a while now. You find yourself laughing a little too, and Jungwon turns his attention to the two of you giggling, your cheek pressed up against Nikiâs shoulder.Â
Jungwonâs not aware, but Sullyoon takes notice on how his hold on his chopsticks tighten slightly upon seeing you and Niki. She frowns a little, but sheâs quick with grabbing Jungwonâs attention back onto her again. His attention only lasts every minute or so as heâs stealing quick glances at you and Niki laughing at Tiktokâs together.Â
Heâs barely paying any attention to anything that Sullyoon is saying as she rambles about homework that her teacher assigned in her math class, and he only gives slight hums as a reply. Desperate to get your attention back on Jungwon, he calls out your name and you lift your head up from Nikiâs shoulder and tilt your head, âYeah?âÂ
âWeâre still studying tomorrow for your physics test, right?â He asks, even though he already confirmed last night, he felt like he was getting queasy from seeing you and Niki laugh about something together that didnât include him.Â
âOh! Yeah, of course. Thanks for helping me again, I donât know what I would do without you!â You grin before engaging in a conversation with Sullyoon and Jungwon again.Â
Jungwon thinks he succeeded upon getting your attention again, and Niki merely rolls his eyes and continues to scroll through Tiktok because he knows Jungwonâs motives but he canât say anything to you because he knows youâre not going to take it well.Â
Niki only wants to see you happy, and even if you end up with Jungwon, he thinks heâll be okay because youâre no longer having puffy eyes every morning with a red nose from crying all night.Â
âSoâŠhowâre things going with you and Sullyoon?â You ask Jungwon as the two of you make your way into your home, and suddenly Jungwon is hit with the memory of seeing you with Niki on the couch last month. This was the first time he stepped into your home after that time, and he feels sick to the stomach.Â
âItâs going good! Sheâs super pretty and sweet, I couldnât ask for more,â he said, but his words sound almost empty if you didnât know any better, and you donât because you tune out his answer. You donât want to know, you think any answer he gives you would make you cry on the spot.Â
So you just nod and take a seat on the couch, the same couch Jungwon saw you sleeping on Nikiâs shoulder. His stomach churns, and he gulps, reluctantly making his way to the couch and taking his seat where Niki previously sat a month ago. Why is he so caught up with what he saw a whole month ago, Jungwon thinks to himself, and he canât find an answer, so instead, he pushes it to the back of his mind and focuses on helping you study for your physics test.Â
A few hours pass, and you start to doze off, head nodding off as Jungwon reads something off of the textbook. He sighs, patting your head to get your attention and you immediately blink up at him, straightening your back. He chuckles at your action, and he gives you a dimpled smile. âI can get you some water, maybe itâll help keep you up. Iâll be right back,â he offers and gets up from his seat, making his way to your kitchen to pour you a glass of water. When he comes back, your head is downwards, hair shielding your face and youâre clearly asleep. He smiles softly. Itâs been a while since heâs hung out with you like this, even if it is just studying, and itâs refreshing to see you relaxed and asleep because he knows that you struggle under stress and canât handle it when you have a test coming up, especially when itâs a science related test.
He sits back down, placing the glass of water on the coffee table and he gently takes your head, guiding it to his shoulder. You only stir slightly, but youâre still asleep. Jungwon thinks this is only fair. If Niki gets to feel you sleep on his shoulder, then he should too. You always insist so strongly that you and Niki are only friends after Jungwon constantly pries you with questions about you and Niki, so this was normal, right? This is what friends do.Â
But Sullyoon is his girlfriend, and yet heâs never let Sullyoon lean her head on his shoulder. He doesnât think much about it, he convinces himself that the time will come soon, and that itâs because you and him are comfortable after knowing each other for so long, right? Right, so he simply admires your sleeping state and plays with the ends of your hair, knowing that you like it whenever he does it because you told him two years ago when you two were studying one day.Â
Thereâs a slight, guilty feeling stirring in his gut, and no matter how hard he tries to not think about it, his mind crosses to Sullyoon. Sullyoon would be fine with this, right? She never had any issue with you, in fact, heâs ecstatic that you and Sullyoon got so close. His two favorite people bonding together; what more could he ask for? But he canât help but let himself indulge in this little moment with you, because itâs been so long since heâs spent time with you like this, and soon he finds himself in a slumber with you on the couch.Â
The next morning you see Jungwon at school, you try to avoid him. You had awoken before him, and you almost yelped upon realizing that you were laying on his shoulder. You donât remember how you got there, but you feel extremely guilty because you would never interfere in between Jungwon and Sullyoon, ruining their relationship even though you are in love with Jungwon.Â
You dig through your locker, not daring to look around since youâre scared of meeting eye contact with either Jungwon or Sullyoon, so you stall, pretending to look for something as you bury your head in your locker.Â
âWhatâre ya looking for?â Niki asks, shoulder leaning against the locker beside yours. âThe bell is about to ring. You should quickly find what youâre looking for.â You jump a bit at the sound of his voice, and you release a breath you didnât realize you were holding in.Â
âSorry, Iâm not looking for anything,â You reply, shutting your locker and clicking the lock. Niki raises a brow at your weird behavior, arms crossing against his chest like heâs about to interrogate you.Â
âWhat happened last night?â He asks, and it catches you off guard because you forgot that Jungwon asked about you two studying yesterday during lunch, but also because how did he know?Â
You blink at him and then quickly look around the hallway for any sign of Jungwon. You spot him talking to Sullyoon, and you turn back to Niki, hands pushing his chest to guide him further down the hall. âWoah! Whatâs the rushâŠâ He grumbles, following your lead before you halt to a stop, next to your class.Â
âI fell asleep on Jungwonâs shoulderâŠâ you mumble quietly, and Niki almost misses it. He stares at you, brows furrowing together. He doesnât understand. He knows you wouldnât purposefully fall asleep on his shoulder, right? Youâre not that type of person, he thinks. Youâre never the one to sabotage someone else because of something that youâve wanted, so why is he denying that you fell asleep on his shoulder?Â
âWhat?â Is all he asks, because he wants clarification.Â
âIt was an accident!â You clear up, waving your hands in the air, âBut I donât really remember how I didâŠbecause I was just falling asleep while studying and Jungwon wasnât even sitting next to me when I fell asleep.â You say, eyes glancing around the hallway in case Jungwon or Sullyoon are walking around.Â
He slowly nods, starting to understand. He rolls his eyes, putting together the pieces before you even could. Sometimes, he wishes that you werenât so blindly in love with Jungwon so then you could see that he put your head on his shoulder. Well, and also so you can realize that heâs been waiting for you to see him all along.Â
You acknowledge him, and thatâs enough for Niki. Or at least, it used to be. He understands what youâre going through, and he dares to even say heâs in the same position as you and knows first-hand what youâre feeling. But, he feels almost exhausted, having to sit and watch you cry over someone who seems to not realize that youâre everything that any person could wish for. Niki would never say that heâs the patient type, but heâs always patient for you, and he thinks heâll wait for an entire lifetime for you. Now, heâs thinking that youâre starting to test his patience.Â
He grits his teeth, and it doesnât go unnoticed by you. âI donât knowâ maybe Iâm overthinking it. Sorry, letâs go inside,â you gesture to the classroom that you two share, and he can barely fight off a roll of his eyes before letting him get dragged by you inside the classroom.
During class, youâre aware that Nikiâs been glancing at you, and you would say occasionally glancing, but it definitely is more than occasionally. You also are aware that itâs not the good kind of glancing, and more of a this conversation is not over glancing. You bite on your bottom lip, trying to avoid any eye contact with Niki as class passes on. By the time the bell rings, youâre quickly packing up your stuff but Nikiâs already hovering by your desk, waiting for you.Â
âHe obviously put your head there.â He bluntly states, and youâre relieved that most of the students have already filed out of the class and just a few remain so not many hear what heâs saying.
You sigh, grabbing your backpack and swinging it over your shoulder. âI donât know, itâs really not that big of a dealâŠI guess it just freaked me out a little. But itâs not that weird, right? I sleep on your shoulders sometimesâŠâ you mumble, and in your head it didnât sound that weird but now that you say it out loud, you feel your cheeks get a little hot.Â
Niki purses his lips in a flat line, slowly nodding his head. No big deal, to sleep on someone's shoulders, to you, but to him, he feels like heâs on top of the world when he feels you relax into him when you fall into a slumber. Maybe you just didnât understand because no one has fallen asleep on you, he thinks.Â
âRight.â Is all he says in reply, causing you to look at him as you two walk down the hall to your next class. You feel bad, and you know exactly why you do. Itâs obvious that itâs not not a big deal, and it is a big deal. You think itâs even more of a big deal because itâs Niki, someone whoâs not fond of any physical touch and he lets you sleep on his shoulder, and he doesnât dare move an inch in case he wakes you.Â
âOf course I do, Iâll see you later then, yeah?âÂ
Â
Youâre sitting with Niki during lunch time, and normally Jungwon would be here by now, but both him and Sullyoon are nowhere to be seen. You shrug it off, because you assume that itâs just them doing coupley things by themselves, and you try to not think about it too much.Â
Niki feels relieved when you donât bring up Jungwon not being here for lunch.Â
On the other hand, Jungwonâs arm is being dragged by Sullyoon outside of the school courtyard. âWhatâs this about? Are you okay?â He asks, because heâs never seen Sullyoon mad, ever, and it worries him.Â
Sullyoon stops with a huff, crossing her arms across her chest. âNo, Iâm not okay,â she starts, and Jungwon likes to think heâs intently listening to her, but his head glances through the school doors, his mind thinking that he needs to get to the cafeteria before lunch ends to see you.Â
Sullyoon sighs, shaking her head, âJungwon. Please spare me five minutes of your time. Just this once.â He blinks at her, confused, but he nods anyway.Â
âWe should break up.â She simply blurts, and Jungwonâs reaction is exactly what she expected it to be. He blinks at her once more, tilts his head, and blinks again in confusion.
âWhy? I thought we were doing okay yesterdayâŠâ he trails off when Sullyoon raises her hand and waves him off.Â
âItâs not me, itâs you. Jungwon, I like you a lot, and youâre so funny and sweet, and I feel very lucky to know what it feels like to be your girlfriend, but I think someone else can treat you better than I can, and theyâve been waiting for a while, too.â Sullyoon explains, a soft yet sad smile on her features, and Jungwon frowns because he simply doesnât understand where this is coming from.Â
He shakes his head in confusion, âWhat? Sorry, what? Who is this âsomeone elseâ and why can they treat me better? I want you!â
Sullyoon sighs again. âNo, you donât want me. You want Y/n. I can see it in the way you talk about them. Your eyes shine bright, more than they ever do when you talk about me, and you always chase for their attention, not mine. And thatâs okay, Iâve pretty much come to terms with it. I just donât know why you havenât.âÂ
Jungwon splutters, and heâs at a loss for words.Â
âYou donât have to say anything. I just want to ask you something.â Jungwon nods, indicating for her to ask her question. âWhy do you hold yourself back when it comes to Y/n?âÂ
Jungwon paces back and forth in the empty classroom. Sullyoonâs question bugged him so much that he skipped class, something that heâs never done before in his entire high school career. His brows are furrowed, her voice replaying in his mind as he lets out a frustrated sigh. How is he supposed to answer that question? He wasnât even aware that he was holding himself back two hours ago! He rubs his face with his hand, silently grumbling to himself as he tries to rack his brain for an answer because if he doesnât, Sullyoonâs voice will just keep repeating in his head and heâs afraid heâll go mad.Â
He thinks back to when he first met you. A fond smile appears on his features, the scene in his mind is so vivid as he remembers every detail about the outfit you were wearing, how your hair was styled, and the way you simply carried yourself on the first day of school. He slaps a hand over his mouth, catching himself smiling as he reminisces younger you. âGet it together,â he mutters to himself, shaking his head as he continues to pace back and forth. Jungwon always admired the way you presented yourself. You cared about your appearance, but not to the point where it was obnoxious checking yourself out every ten seconds, but enough to make yourself feel confident, and Jungwon wishes he could learn that from you. He then realizes there are many other things that he admires about you, and he sighs once more.Â
You are too good for him. It was why he rejected you in the first place â he thinks at the time, he wasnât good enough to be your boyfriend, but he was dedicated to work on himself for you, so that he could be the boyfriend that you deserve. He frowns. He thinks that now, heâs lost you. As time passes, you start to become friends with Niki and he notices the way Niki looks at you, the same way Jungwon looks at you. At first, he didnât think much of it. Niki was younger than you, and you expressed to him one time that youâre not really interested in younger guys. Jungwon was confident that youâd still be with him in the end, until you and Niki started to share more time together.Â
Heâs definitely lost you, Jungwon thinks, and he frowns deeply at that. He feels stupid, he fails to understand why his past self decided to make you wait for him. He should have immediately accepted your confession, then you two would live happily forever after. Unfortunately, he let himself get distracted with Sullyoon and academics that he failed to fully dedicate time for a better version of himself for you.Â
Better late than never, Jungwon thinks as he looks at the time in the empty classroom, and the last class of the day is about to end. He quickly rushes outside the hallway, heading straight to your locker so he can ask you if you want to hang out today, and maybe heâll finally return your confession. He only hopes you still feel the same.
The bell finally rings, and Niki awaits for you outside your classroom when youâre done packing up. âHey!â You greet, and Niki returns with a smile and a wave.Â
âAre you excited to go eat strawberry croissants?â He asks, nudging your shoulder playfully as the two of you make your way down the hallway to your locker. Youâre too busy chatting with Niki to see Jungwon waiting for you beside your locker, not to mention his nervous fidgeting of his fingers and shoes tapping on the floor repeatedly.Â
âOf course I am! I miss them so much, itâs too good. If I had to pay ten dollars for one croissant, Iâd stillââÂ
âY/n,â Jungwon says as soon as you reach your locker, and your head turns away from Niki, meeting eyes with Jungwon. You gape, blinking once as if you hallucinated him there.
âOhâŠhey, whatâs up?â You ask, and you immediately pick up on Jungwonâs nervous habits that he does. You furrow your brows in concern, and you almost ask if heâs alright but Jungwon beats you.Â
âWanna go to the park right now? I got something I wannaââÂ
You want to evaporate. He might as well have said me or Niki, you think.Â
You know yourself well, or at least you like to think you do. Which means you know that Jungwon will always come first to you, and that no matter what, in any universe, Jungwon will have your heart. You think he always will, and it aches to even admit it based on the empty and meaningless pining of two years for Jungwon. You got nothing in return. You feel like an idiot for even still loving Jungwon, because anyone with a sense of mind would turn the other way and move on. But you think other people just donât understand Jungwon.
You waited for a reason, and that reason is because you know that Jungwon will eventually come around, and that when the stars align, you and Jungwon will be the end. In a way, you think Jungwon has also waited for you. Heâs never failed to make you feel appreciated and loved, and even though heâs never expressed it through words, you just know. And heâs finally, finally, starting to.
âI promised Niki Iâd go with him today, sorry, Jungwon. Maybe next time?â You smile, and you feel Niki relax from behind you, but you also see Jungwonâs fist clench in a tight fist by his side.Â
A part of you feels bad, even though you know you shouldnât. You waited for two years. Two years too long. If Jungwon thinks that heâd still get you after rejection for two years, heâs wrong, and you feel itâs fair if he waits for two years, and if he does, you know yourself well enough that youâd come back to him. You always do.Â
Another part of you wants to cry. You have been practically dreaming of the moment Jungwon initiates anything with you, and he finally does, but you donât accept it. Past you would absolutely cry about this, but present you feels a little giddy about focusing your time on someone who has been showing that they care about you the entire time.Â
You grab onto Nikiâs arm, tugging on it slightly and he takes it as his signal to leave the school building. You give a wave goodbye to Jungwon, and heâs left standing there, with a newfound dedication to wait for you.Â
