Heresy: An after work drink at Molly’s turns into a confession booth.

Maybe I'm a Lion: Sarah's patient is dead. He shouldn't be dead, and she isn’t going to let Rhodes slink away home.

Don't Be Afraid: Connor seriously overestimates how much Sarah Reese thinks about him.

Force Your Way: Believe it or not, Sarah really doesn't care about whatever the hell is going on with Rhodes and Bekker.

Waltz for the Moon: Sarah needs food and sleep and a new phone number and to maybe get laid someday. Connor volunteers to help.

Residents: Sarah gets a roommate, and a dog. Will gets some updates on what the heck is going on with Connor.

Love love love characters that present themselves as emotionally open social butterflies but the more you see of them the more obvious it is that they’re the most closed off fuckers in the story. Sure, they want to help you with your personal problems and messy emotions, but if you turn that shit back on them, they’ll shut down or deflect every time. Why are you sticking your nose in their business anyway? It’s not like it matters. They’re not a person, they’re just a role being played. They’re the guy who fixes things and saves people. I need parents to understand that reading the same Lankybox graphic novel over and over is actually a gateway drug to Reading Stuff Other Than That. And shutting down books kids get excited about is a gateway drug to kids Not Reading Period.

When I was a kid I would read Simpsons episode guides. Simpsons episode guides! I was reading literal summaries of a tv show in a book that was designed to be leafed around in rather than read cover-to-cover! And guess what! It built up positive associations with reading for me and established reading as a habit! Hell, because the Simpsons isn't necessarily a kids show, I could actually return to it and get more out of the jokes as I got older! Let kids read garbage! To quote Mac Barnett, kids have just as much of a right to read garbage as adults!

I wonder if Yor’s ever thought that Loid’s control freak tendencies are related to his previous wife.

Like, maybe Loid asked her to pick up groceries for him one time and she ended up getting hit by a car, so now he feels he has to work three times as hard to make sure he doesn’t have to endure a loss like that ever again.

She also doesn’t know exactly when she died, so Loid could’ve been a grieving single parent for a few years before he met Yor, which would explain why he’s so anxious all of the time.

A lot of people assume Yor is really gullible and just takes things at face value (which, to be fair, she does), but from her perspective, everything about Loid makes sense as a widower trying to raise a child and maintain a stressful job.

Even his normally sullen attitude could be lingering depression from his wife’s death.

From Yor’s point of view, Loid has really been put through the wringer and gone through a lot of undeserved pain. But despite all of that, she still sees him as an incredibly kind and patient man, trying to be the best parent he can be for Anya.

It’s no wonder she wants to be more useful for him: she wants to ease the burdens she thinks he’s been carrying alone.

And she’s not entirely wrong either.

The thing about the Karen Read trial is that when I first heard about it I was like “I hope they acquit her because I think women should be allowed to back over their cop boyfriends.” and then I dug into it and realized she genuinely was framed and she was framed by complete dumbasses and if she wasn’t a middle class, college educated, home-owning white woman, they would have gotten away with it and they’ve probably done this to people who could not afford to defend themselves. Then I learned about Sandra Birchmore and the other acts of heinous misconduct and violence committed by the Canton PD and I almost wished it was just a woman killing her fundamentally unlikable cop boyfriend and not open season on girls and women in Canton, Massachusetts. God, what a scary place to live and what a sickening rabbithole to go down.

too much of law enforcement is men with grudges protecting men they see themselves in from consequences. we only really hear about this phenomenon when it comes to rich people because their cases are more high profile (see: #metoo in hollywood, epstein files) but regular women just kind of have to accept the fact and move on lol because only money can save you in such circumstances

Bulldozer parents??

It's a term for a parent who basically clears away every possible challenge or bit of friction for their kid, which both isolates and stunts the development of the kid. They basically make life hell for teachers or anyone who has to work professionally with kids because they're so protective that the kid never develops a sense of, "You have to communicate your needs to people other than your parents" or "You have to do things for yourself" or "Society runs on social contracts such as not screaming in the library stairwell."
