Zouis ❤
I am doing very well, thank you Chez.
I like to think so, we’re just starting to get ready for the World Cup in two years now so everything’s a bit stressed out in the Scotland camp until we get used to it. I actually haven’t got anyone to go with yet, so you can come if you want to.
Good to hear, Cat. It's time to get crackin' with practice, those two years will go by fast. And I'm definitely down to go, just give me a time to meet up with you and I'll be there for sure.
Hi Chez, how are you?
Cat, nice to see you. I'm doing great, yourself? Hear you're kicking ass for the Scots. Not surprised, to be honest but hey, you got anyone to go to the game with? Cause I'll be free.
Yes, I am me. It’s so comforting to know you know that, I was beginning to worry about your intelligence. -Smiles cruelly as she removes her finger from his cheeks-
If you knew half the things she did, I wouldn’t be too sure that she’d still hold that beautiful warm title in your heart. Do as you like Little Poo but I guarantee you, Lillian won’t say a word so let your curiosity die. It won’t do you any good.
-mumbles- Nothing's wrong with my intelligence.
What the heck are you getting at, Ol- Nanette? Whatever. I don't think it'll take that much for me to get it out of mom so we'll just see how that goes later. Anything else you need to tell me or insult me with before I gladly walk away?
"Chez, I bet you can't punch this with your broken hand." - Guac
Fuck Quidditch, Get Snitches. [Elora/Chez]
After reaching the level she’d so coveted ever since she first laid her eyes on the game, Elora found that little amused her anymore. There was the occasional joke and banter that made her chuckle a bit, but there wasn’t much that made her nerves fire up with adrenaline and excitement. That is, until she saw the boy across the field gawk as though she slapped him in the face - and she might as well have. Described as a fan - though not an insane fan - Chez Barder had been introduced into her life as a seeker to watch out for. A challenge. The bubbly redhead had showered him with praise, yet he stood there nearly cross-eyed with shock as he tried to regain his composure. His initial overconfidence had completely withered away into a pathetic stutter of her name when he realized who she was. As it should, there was a reason Elora was admired by many and it wasn’t as simple as being good on the pitch. It was a ferocious determination to do anything it takes to win. A smirk that could make even the burliest of men second-guess themselves tugged at her lips, the twin storms of her blue eyes surveying him with unfiltered intensity. The controlled and deep voice fell in step with the wind once more as he spoke, and she cocked her head to the side as she did - her bronze locks bouncing on her shoulders, twisting at the mercy of the wind. She took a decisive step closer as he continued to speak, but stopped abruptly at his final words.
‘Hadrian,’ Came a sharp his from the corner of the barn. A small head, all rosy cheeks and blonde curls was peeking in from the doorway. Curious blue eyes explored the dark room before falling onto the sleeping form of the boy she sought out. With a muffled groan her mother would certainly admonish as hardly ladylike she stepped into the barn, which smelled thickly of hay and manure and approached the sleeping boys at the other end of the room. Tugging her robe on tighter as the cold brushed up against her arms, she found herself wondering how they could stand to say in such cold. Licking her lips, she crouched beside Hadrian, who had floppy hair the color of sand and dimples in his cheeks when he smiled in his sleep.
With no remorse, and a playful glint dancing in her eyes, she pressed her lips against his ear - her breathing shallow and quiet - before whistling loudly. The boy shot up in shock, cupping his ear in pain before he gave her an angry look. “You!” He poked her in between the eyebrows, causing the young girl to topple over onto her back, filled with mirth and giggles. “Don’t make me rub dirt in your face you little - ugh…” He trailed off.
She sat up. “How was Hogwash?” A giant smile plastered itself on her face.
“Hogwarts was fabulous, thank you, Lady Elora.” She scowled.
“I’m no lady.”
He smiled, dimples pressing into his cheeks once more. Said, “You’ve got that right,” and earned a punch in the arm. Then, unable to control herself, the reason she was there spilled out of her.
“I’m going to beat you silly at finding the snitch again!” She announced.
Not missing a beat, Hadrian shot back. “I couldn’t have chosen a better midnight activity, my Lady. Which is why me beating your little tush silly is going to be sweet.”
Staggering resemblance dizzied her thoughts. Not in physical appearance, for this boy was clearly the superior in that area and the chiseled jaw and thick eyelashes reminded her little of the toothy boy from her childhood. Something else did, and she tightened her grip on her broom with the resolve to find out why. Pushing her thoughts to the back of her mind, she refocused her attention on him. Without a word she approached him until they stood one step away from each other, and she calmly gave him a once over. “Your sister was right to call you handsome, but I’ll have no problem putting a dent the size of a crater in your pretty face with the base of my broom, trust me, mate.” Then, as an afterthought she added, “I’ll take great pleasure in watching you try.”
Cerulean eyes met warm hazel across the short distance between them and the challenge in both pairs seemed to electrify the air between them. “I trust you’ve brought that snitch as promised?” Her voice was unruffled by his promising challenge. Chez confirmed this and she cleared her throat. In magazines, interviews, and even match commentary the fact Elora refused to shake hands with any of her opponents was constantly remarked on. The way she’d sneer at her rival with a knowing look that could make them fall to their knees and surrender almost infamous. There was none of this as she faced the dark-skinned boy, who was a touch taller than her but acted mountain-level in stature. Instead, her hand shot out, her eyes not leaving his as it did. The wind swept between them and the rush of adrenaline was already pumping against her nerve ends.
After they had sorted that out, she mounted her broom - a beautiful piece of sports history which was known for having originally been owned by the Seeker of the Transylvanian national Quidditch team, and her teammates had paid a dear amount of galleons for it. Its base was of dark ebony wood, almost blacker than her uniform. It had a silver ringlet at the base with the emblem of the Magpies engraved into it, and the Seeker’s signature along its spine. The broom had originally been named The Basilisk and she saw no reason to rename it. She tossed her hair over her shoulder and awaited the release of the snitch into the air, ready to hit the sky as soon as the golden prize fluttered loose from the boy’s grip. It was true that unlike normal, she felt the excitement of worthy challenge, but that didn’t change anything. After all, there was one thing the girl never did, and that was lose. Nothing, especially not an uncomfortable nostalgia, would change that.
A chuckle laced with unbelief emerged from Chez causing him to run a hand through his dark, tamed locks. "That's gotta be the nicest thing my sister ever -" he paused mid-sentence, running his mind through that statement until it clicked. "Oh, Claret. Yeah, she's right - almost always," he raised a brow with her threat, a glint of annoyance sparking so brightly. "Well, don't. And trust, the pleasure will be all mine when the snitch is in my hand and not yours," a familiar smirk nestled comfortably in his sharp features. Mere moments after showing the golden snitch held tightly in his hand, an extended hand placed itself in his peripherals. It came as a shock to him because as much as he hated to admit it, he knew her mannerisms to a tee. The maniac fangirl in him studied her every move, tracking her success and strategy. This handshake was uncharacteristic but Chez made the best of it as he extended his own hand, his mind filling with thoughts that he was special. After the handshake came to a firm close, he watched the Seeker of the Magpies as she mounted her broom and took this brief moment of solitude to exhale sharply, still a bit starstruck. Tightening his grip around the oak handle, he quickly got onto his own broom to follow suit.
"That's it, son!" Reed cheered as a young Chez launched from his broom, planting both feet firmly onto the ground before engaging in a small celebratory dance, snitch snug in his hand. A bigger hand fastened to the young wizard's shoulder, "I can see it now. You're going to be the Seeker that everyone needs to be on the lookout for," he continued, feeding the young Barder with words of encouragement. A feminine cackle poisoned the previously pleasant air as a thirteen year old Nanette casually strolled onto the premises with her own broom in hand.
"Please," was all she said, enough to cause Chez to tighten his fists. "You didn't have to come back during break, you know," he mumbled, afraid of the consequences if he had increased his volume. Thankfully, Reed broke the tension with a hearty laugh, "Don't even get me started on the Beater that'll break world records. I must say," with his free hand he grasped Nanette's shoulder. "I'm raising a fine pair of Quidditch players." Ticked at the fact that the spotlight was rudely stolen from him, he finally risked a brutal beating as soon as his dad walked off.
"Why do you always do that, Ollie?"
Her radiant smile quickly evolved into a scowl as her eyes darted to the then shorter boy. "If you can't keep the spotlight on you for more than a few minutes - seconds, really, how do you expect to be known?" As Chez faltered to come up with an answer, the older girl snatched the snitch from his hands and with all her force, chucked it into the gray air above. "And if I can get the snitch before you then you sure aren't going to be the best seeker," Nanette challenged before mounting her broom and zooming off. It was the final straw as Chez raised a fist in the air, his mouth unable to produce the words he felt boiling within him. All that was left to do was stop complaining, get on his damn broom, and prove her wrong.
What he considered a tormented childhood suddenly warped into the present as he watched not Nanette, but Elora Xanthe, hover off the ground, waiting for the game to start. There was no need for a verbal confirmation for her being ready as it exuded from her body language. Elora didn't need to say a single word to let anyone know that she never plays around, a trait more than admirable to the hopeful national Seeker. Locking eyes with her once more, he raised the snitch as if to say cheers before tossing the hyperactive snitch into the air. The second it left his hand his eyes lost the snitch causing him to shoot straight up into the air to get rid of the hindrances on the ground.
"Not even a minute into the game and you lost the snitch. Classic Chez," the female voice tainted his concentration, a scowl breaking through. Hazel orbs darted left and right, and once again, scanning the air desperately. If he kept this up it would only be a matter of moments before he would spot Elora on the snitch's tail. "Dammit," he muttered until a faint buzz came and went from behind. Whipping himself in a full 180, he took off in full speed with no Elora in sight - a flash of luck that would surely die instantly.
