Name: Gregory Sharpe Age: 49 Sexuality: Heterosexual Gender: Male Portrayed By: JR Bourne Availability: Closed
“Mistakes were made, I admit that, but we’re doing the best we can with the information presented to us. No further comment.”
→ Background
Gregory Sharpe has lived in Baberton his entire life and he couldn’t ever imagine himself living anywhere else. He met his wife, Lisa, when they were both at university and they fell in love very quickly. In fact, everything about their relationship was quick. From their wedding, to Kane’s birth and then Kelly’s. Gregory wouldn’t change a second of it, however. He loves his family fiercely and nothing will ever change that. All he has ever wanted for his children is for them to be happy and grow up to have a good job… so with a son who seems to only be wasting his life away and a daughter who he knows has a habit of breaking the rules and sneaking around, and in his eyes sort of… drifting… it’s a little hard to him to handle. He is proud, though, that Kelly has always been so determined and goes after what she wants seemingly without fear. Gregory knows his son is smarter than he pretends to be and has tried many times to kick Kane into making something of his life… to no avail. It’s disappointing but he’s not going to give up - despite the fact that it’s one of the main sources of arguments around the family home.
From a young age, he’d wanted to be a police officer like his father before him, and he worked hard to achieve this goal. He’s always been incredibly dedicated and hard working and when he sets his mind to something he sees it through no matter what. He has been the Chief Constable of the Baberton Police Department for many years now and takes great pride in his position. Everyone knows he has a pretty bad temper and can get really loud when he is angry, especially towards his employees when something goes wrong on the station. Despite that, he’s very respected by a lot of people in Baberton and doesn’t have many enemies. He’s a good guy under all the roughness and people seem to know that.
→ Back to Baberton
When Annie Pierce disappeared, Gregory had always suspected that she didn’t simply run away like the official story they put out. Honestly, he always believed that she had been kidnapped but there was no evidence to back up that theory and for some reason they ruled it a runaway case and it was closed. Some of the evidence didn’t point to that but a few of her items had been removed from her house and there was no trace of her, no van lurking on corners, no shady figures hanging round her house, so they had to do what they had to do. Besides, he figured it would be much easier for Kelly to deal with if she thought her friend was still alive out there somewhere. He was never really a fan of Annie and hated to listen to all the stories his daughter came home with everyday. Annie never played by the rules - she made up her own and he thought she was bad influence for Kelly. He never forbid his daughter from seeing her, though, and he knows just how hard Kelly and her friends had it before the case was closed, and through all this -A stuff. It was frustrating to have all these murder cases open with no closure for the last three or so years. He knows that the trust in the police was broken by the fact they were constantly coming up empty but, what was worse, he started to realise that Kelly doesn’t trust him and avoids him. He wants to earn this trust back, as well as the trust and respect of his town, but he doesn’t quite know where to begin and he finds it frustrating to deal with. Especially now that he’s got a new baby at home, Keegan, and he feels guilty for working so many hours and having his wife at home alone a lot of the time.
→ What’s His Secret?
A while ago, Annie’s murder weapon was found at Leo Collins door. It prompted Gregory to start showing up outside the building once a week and watch from the other side of the street to see if the person came back. It was a long shot but he felt at a loss. Trouble is, it gave him a lot of time to think and he started having doubts about how it got there in the first place. Why Leo’s doorstep? Is he involved in some way? At the time Leo was secretly sneaking around with his daughter and when this came out, Gregory was furious. This was a detective in his station, someone he was supposed to be able to count on. Despite Leo not being with Kelly anymore, Gregory still has his problems with the guy, still can’t seem to trust him completely.. sometimes still even spies on his building. Just in case.
During an intense fight about their son, Gregory lost his temper and pushed his wife down the stairs, which he completely regrets and he swears he will never lose his temper again. He wants to make it up to her but doesn’t know how, he feels as though the trust is completely gone. Trouble is, he knows he could freak out again when it’s about his family and, as much as he doesn’t want to hurt anybody, the possibility is there.
I looked at her much less often than I wanted to.
