i’m working on a crossover fic blending those two universes, because after rewatching both back to back i genuinely could not stop thinking about how eerily similar these stories are:
the weapons (project heracles / the entity) being abstract, invisible, and terrifying because they can "think"
both bond and ethan being haunted by their pasts
sacrifice framed as love (bond staying behind, luther staying behind💔)
and most importantly… the quiet devastation of loss. waughhh
for the fic’s backstory i’m trying to cook up one shared weapon, maybe project heracles as a kind of biological expression of what the entity represents digitally: targeted extinction, algorithmic judgment, god-complex logic. i know details can be solidified further
and i needddd benji to be temporarily stationed at mi6 (somehow) and most crucially, meet Q. like this is non-negotiable. i need them to become friends in that very specific way: two hyper-competent best of the best tech guys who pretend they’re fine but are very much not fine. found family. shared grief. mutual understanding. late-night lab talks and the kind of quiet loyalty towards your respective dumbass field agents that sneaks up on you.
and if you’ve ever read any of my fics (sevenseasofyeet on ao3) you already know how this goes: confessions. friends-to-lovers. yearning. so much yearning. i regret nothing.
the thing is, q plays a huge role here. he becomes benji’s mirror, his sounding board, the person who gently (and sometimes accidentally) pushes him toward ethan in the absence of luther and ilsa.
and when bond sacrifices his life, q isn’t left completely hollowed out and alone. he has benji. he has ethan. grief doesn’t vanish but it just stops being solitary.
