Yes Squeenix, many draws please. 

--If you were a good kitten and didn’t draw for Kairi EX or Foretellers w/o a mercy, then you are left with two main options:

1) Draw from this draw until your little head explodes. It’s a really damn good draw. I’d recommend saving 6000 jewels for emergency avatar boards and the like.

2) Wait for EX Kairi 15-draw (45,000 jewel) to release. (Note that it may not actually ever come to NAUX, it might be more expensive, and it might come anywhere from tomorrow to 6 months from now.)

If you did draw from the Foretellers, whether successfully or not, I’d recommend three draws from this deal. That should be enough to get one of the gr8 new medals or one of the pretty-good medals with a trait. (And assuming you have enough Premiums with traits, it also will bring you exactly to pet Rank 4--Esuna is quite useful!)

Why draw? Why are the medals good? 

You are guaranteed one of five new Tier 6/7 medals each draw, most of which are Tier 7. That’s up to 200% guilt! Goddamn. 

HD Vanitas: Tier 7 copy medal, damn! Most of his good slots will have him copying light magic medals, so definitely a good addition if you have good light magic medals.

HD Zexion: if you have a Foreteller medal, HD Zexion isn’t that useful to you... but otherwise, he really lays on those defense down!

HD Final Form Sora: if you’re a f2p to c2p, you probably don’t have good light speed medal. WELL NOW YOU CAN. Also, fits v nice on Fairy Stars.

Days Black Coat Riku: if you’re f2p/c2p, you probably mostly have strong dark speed medals, which means Divine Rose. And Riku is strongest in the 3rd slot, so... yeasss. This is probably my favorite of the new stack.

HD Larxene: The only tier 6 on the list, but she’s somewhat similar to Xigbar B in regards to the short-lived Gen Def-. Definitely the worst one on the list, but there’s still Divine Rose she’ll fit nice on--we don’t have too many strong multitarget dark medals.

Thoughts on these black friday banners?

My thoughts are very mixed. I was all for spending 45k for Ava like in JP, but… 60k is a lot. I, personally, do have that many jewels (just barely!), so will probably splurge for her–most of my powerful medals are Dark Speed (being f2p), so the best light medal for me is light Magic on Divine Rose. But the average person doesn’t have 60k jewels to throw down, and as usual, if you can’t pull to a guarantee, probably not worthwhile. [Link to my draw attempt.]

If you have a decent number of unguilted Premium medals hanging around and no Kairi EX, the Kairi EX falling deal banner isn’t half bad. It has no guarantees, so I wouldn’t personally go for it, but if you want to splurge somewhere, not many draws that’d be better.

Otherwise, you’ll just have to look toward the future, see what non-EX medal is appealing to you (as most EX have no guarantee). Most the medals looking forward have particular niches (upright-boosting or type-specific) that won’t appeal to everyone’s setups. [List at bottom of this page, start at JP Set 25.]

I used to visit this blog because it was very good, I always trusted your opinions on which banner should we pull for or which where a waste. Did something happen?

There hasn’t been a worthwhile banner to pull since 0.2 Kairi. No guarantee, no draw. EX Kairi may be god-tier amazing, but her odds are not. My recommendation would be to save for HD Ava, who is likely going to be a 15-draw (45k jewels).

I stopped posting mostly because whenever I did, people either said my guides were useless or too p2w. And, fair enough, they are, but there are typically no other options. Either you have the medals you need, whether due to luck or carefully saving, or... you don’t.

I kind of wish these event guides were actually... you know, helpful.

It helps some people and doesn’t help others. These guides are what worked for me and my party–if they don’t work for you due to RNG, Keyblade LV, medals, etc., I’m sorry I couldn’t be of more help. Organization events are hard, man.

XIII-8: Axel

Fire works and fire monkeys, baby! 

The Medal Power Strength +3 for 1 turn! Hits pretty hard (randomly) to boot. A very nice addition to your power deck, strongest earlier on, so I’d suggest putting it in your second or third slot (after 0.2 Kairi). EA is probably the best trait for most f2p, though it’ll cause some overflow with a 0.2+iKairi2 setup; for hardcore players, SP+2 may be better, for sake of Darkgnaw. Skill-wise, it’s very up in the air, depending on what you need; as a booster, Def+ isn’t bad... but he hits pretty hard, so an Attack Boost is also quite fitting!

Other Rewards: Hairstyle from Quest #9 (with tear drop tattoos), “No. VIII” title from Quest #13. Magic Mirror from #2, #6, and #7; Ducklings Triplets from #1 and #4.

Heartless Lots of different enemies, with two new ones--Sparklers and Martial Monkey. Sparkles are similar to the Heartless Baloons and Martial Monkey is similar to Warwolf.

For Quest 1~10, pretty much business as usual. Focus is mostly on survival.

Quest 11: Bring iKairi2/set-damage medals or AOE dispel (Zero, Belle, iB&B), and just sigh loudly as you wait to kill the too well-defended.

Quest 12: Just defend the heck out of yourself. For 12, I’d recommend HPO and Vexen B with EA. You can probably manage fine without Vexen B, but the mouse will randomly hit really hard, so might take a few retries.

Quest 13: More defense! For 13, I’d recommend HPO and Pluto B with EA. Two HPO theoretically should also work, but I’ve had mixed results with it. You’ll probably also want a couple Defense Boost skills (and maybe a Second Chance), as he seems to do a super hit at less than +100HP and less than +10HP. This was my setup, bringing partner’s iKairi2 w/SC for SP.

Is it worth buying both M and F avatar boards for the skills right now? Or is there something more important to save for?

Hey those Marie boards are pretty good right?

Not particularly anything to save for, there’s Manga medals coming eventually that are pretty good, but that’ll probably be about 4 months from now. I wouldn’t buy both boards, but if you like the aesthetic and skills, isn’t a bad idea to nab one. I bought it myself so I could put Def 4 on 0.2 Kairi, as I didn’t buy the Queen/King of Hearts for SC2.

would you happen to know if there will ever be a chance of the HPO medals returning? I've been having terrible luck with drops during this union cross event T__T and probably won't be able to guilt any of them or get the combined medal by the end of the night...

Most event medals don’t come back, especially in English. Just keep an eye on the Adventurer in the future, he’d probably be your best bet.

HPO Nova

You can do this by rerolling the HPO medal OR evolving a non-max guilt medal and using a magic mirror on it. I would suggest the latter, as it’s 17 medals to get max guilt on one or 21 medals to reroll HPO.

So to clarify the steps to get all the Nova:

Get 2 of the character-specific medals to max guilt. Get the third one to guilt, but NOT max.

Evolve to HPO with the one that is NOT at max guilt.

Use Magic Mirror to get Nova for HPO.

Reguilt the one that was not at max (17 more medals), getting it to max this time for the Nova.

If the above method is confusing to you, just reroll guilt with another 0-dot HPO medal. It’s simpler and may save a few mirrors, but requires farming across 4 days instead of 1 day (so it depends on your playstyle which is preferable).

HPO UX MP (Day 4 Assessment)

General Your standard MP regarding the levels, but very not-so regarding drops. Changing each day, you can get 1 of 4 different Twilight Town-related medals. The pattern is Hayner->Pence->Olette->Seasalt->repeat. The last two days, you can get all four medals. Availability is below:

Hayner: Monday 07/24, Friday 07/28, Tuesday 08/01

Pence: Tuesday 07/25, Saturday 07/29, Wednesday 08/02

Olette: Wednesday 07/26, Sunday 07/30, Thursday 08/03

Seasalt: Thursday 07/27, Monday 07/31, Friday 08/04

All: Saturday 08/05 and Sunday 08/06

Bonus Times The normal drop rate for these medals seems to be roughly one every four rounds. However, during bonus time, the average is roughly one per round! So for you own sanity, do your best to hit up the bonus times with your party. Bonus times are one-hour long and start at 7pm PT (2am UTC) and 11pm (6am UTC). The first half-hour has extra hard bosses that drop lots of coins and medals, the last half-hour is normal bosses but an increased droprate.

Medals The Individual Hayner medal, Pence medal, and Olette medal are single-target boosters give Type Def+1 for 2 turns and Cura for 3 SP. *This “type” is whatever type medal is strong against--Hayner gives Magic Def+, Pence gives S Def+, Olettes gives P Def+. Combined together, they produce the Hayner&Pence&Olette medal; which gives PSM Def+1 for 2 Turns, General Def+1 for 2 turns, and Cura, for 4 SP. 

Evolving It requires 5 character-specific meals to get to 6* character. To get HPO, you need one of each 6* character and 3 Sesalt Icecreams. For the sake of Nova, you need 17 of each of the individual medals and 3 Seasalt. Fuse the medals at 5* like normal (3 dots in one and 2 dots in the other), then use the remaining 10 medals to evolve each 5* to 6*. Before you evolve to 6*, I suggest rolling traits until you get the trait Extra Attack: 40% Power; then using that as the “base” medal to evolve into HPO.

Nova All three of the separate medals have their own Nova, so be sure to max it out to 100% before evolving to HPO. Once evolved, you won’t immediately unlock the Nova for the HPO medal; you’ll need to add another medal to it, such as an EXP medal. Get max guilt on two of your character-specific medals, and as close as you can on the third one (but NOT max). Then use the one that’s not max as the base to evolve to HPO. Add a Magic MIrror to HPO to get Nova. Go back and reguilt the one that wasn’t at max guilt for the remaining Nova.

Trait & Skills As a defense boost medal, the best trait is Extra Attack. As a pricey medal, the skill I’d suggest would be the Cost 1 or Cost 2 skill (NOT Cost#&Atk3, if possible). If you don’t have this skill, probably Defense Boost 2, until you do get a Cost# skill (don’t put anything on it you wouldn’t mind getting overriden). There is no reason to keep the character-specific medals separate once you get max Nova for each of them (they may be 1 cheaper, but HPO also has Gen Def+, far negating the cost). 

Other Updates

Draws Just a quick reminder that if a draw doesn’t have a guarantee for a specific medal, it’s bad. I’ve kinda stopped making posts about it as my work schedule’s been hectic, but just know if I don’t make a post for it, it’s probably bad. Shame on it.

What medal to look out for next? There’s not really any solid “meta” medals in JP right now, they’re still quite type-specific. In the meanwhile, honestly, I’d just suggest stocking up and/or spending them on decent Avatar Boards.

Daily Jewel Quests That’s happening. You get most of the the coins for the jewel boards from killing enemies; if you can kill a LV600, you only have to do one run to get everything. If you can’t, you’ll probably have to do 2+ runs (depending on how much you CAN kill).

Whats a good skill for 0.2 kairi?

Same as with any other booster, I’d recommend Second Chance X or Defense Boost X. Since it’s multitarget, Triple Threat or Status+ wouldn’t be bad options either, if you already have a SC & some Def+ in your deck.

Hey so I have defense boost III on my OG iKairi. Should I merge the old and new one and put Defense Boost III on my new .2 Kairi? I don't anticipate using it much... 

While you certainly won’t use iKairi1 in normal play, there are some Proud Quests that require specific types (iKairi1 is a single target and power-type), so you may want to hang on to her for that reason. Similarly, on hit-counter events (such as Warwolf), iKairi1′s single-target may be vastly preferably over multi-target medals. SO you’ll almost never use her, but she definitely has small niches in which she could still be useful.

Hi! I just pulled 0.2 Kairi and still have enough [jewels] left for the Hearts Avatar Boards. Already bought the Queen of Hearts board for SC II. Should I also get the King of Hearts board or is another SC II unnecessary?

Two SC2 don’t play nice together--a higher proc rate, but I don’t think they can proc twice (SC1 at least no longer seems to proc twice).

do you know of any future proud mode quests that would for whatever reason require tier 2 medals? and if not, would it make sense to just sell all my tier 2 medals that are already max guilt?

While I don’t believe they require any Tier 2 medals, they *do* still have weird requirements (such as hit count) that possibly a Tier 2 medal could fulfill. So I would hold on to them, if I were you.

so about those..... extra roxas & sora medals the game oh-so graciously gifted us.... does it make sense to guilt a second one? or just reroll the first one for guilt/traits?

They gave us enough for a second, sooo I guilted the second one. You could have one w/extra attack and a status effect (such as poison or even triple threat if you have one around) and another one more focused on actually dealing a bit of damage (such as Raid+40% with an Atk2&Lux+ or somethin).

What’s New? 0.2 Kairi

What’s guaranteed? One Tier 4+ medal with 1~3 dots, 0.2 Kairi after five 10-draws.

Worthwhile? [inhales] Yes absolutely. 0.2 Kairi is Gen STR+6, Gen Def-1, PSM STR+1, PSM Def-1. All of this, plus Curaga, for only 2 SP! She entirely replaced iKairi1 as well as pretty much all other Gen+ boosters. If you have the jewels, please don’t hestitate to draw for her.

What if you don’t have 15k jewels? Like with any X-draw guarantee, it’s not worthwhile to draw if you can’t go the full X times. 0.2 Kairi will enter the draw after this, so save up jewels and hope you get her at a later time; you’re not much more likely to get her during this draw than another. You do have 2 weeks, however, so perhaps you’ll be able to find the remaining jewels in the meanwhile.

Is guilting her/multiple copies worthwhile? Not particularly. If you draw a second copy and managed to get Extra Attack (1/11 chance of that), due to overflow, you’ll only get about +4 more overall attack/etc., for another 2 SP, which is good but not amazing. She doesn’t hit that hard, so guilting for damage is mostly irrelevant. Guilting allows more use in Proud Quests, of course.

Highlights of Version 2.2.0

Multiplayer now has MVP coins for most damage done and most people revived.

Quests now have a % completion based on the Objectives or Avatar Boards, pending on type of Quest. Coliseum Ranking also displayed on Quest Page.

Party Ranking is now live updated and unaffected by users joining/leaving the party. LUX Boost can only be activated the day after you join the party. 

To clarify, Party Ranking is now based on how much LUX the individuals in that party gather, while in the party. If you gather LUX in another party (or alone), then join a party, your previous LUX will not be added to the party’s current total.

This won’t affect the majority of players, but it prevents the high-end players from party-hopping for more LUX.

Can sort avatar parts by Perk. Heck yeah!

Wellllll, that means you have iKairi1 that gives Gen+6 for 2 Cost and has no useful skill. 

0.2 Kairi is Gen+6, Gen-1, PSM+1, PSM-1 for 2 Cost, annnd you can have a skill on it (such as Def+). So it’s basically +3 Atk more than your current setup for the same cost and a skill slot for w/e. If I were you, I’d still draw, but you won’t be at a massive loss if you don’t? You just probably won’t be quite as competitive.

She’s a 5-draw, so you’ll most likely need 15k for a mercy draw. Gen+6, Gen-1, PSM+/-1; all for 2SP. Very nice.

Is it, in your opinion, "worth it" to use a M&B on Saix B? There's no way I'm beating quest xiii.

Generally, it’s best to save M&B for Premiums imo, but if you have good traits on Saix B and you don’t have any guilted single-target dark power medals, then using an M&B on Saix B certainly wouldn’t be the worst thing! :3
