So true this is an interesting idea… I wanted to change their designs a lil just so you can tell who’s who, even if they’re in the other’s body. So Spam in Tenna’s body has pink and yellow antennas and Tenna in Spam’s body has purple + square sunglasses (that don’t show the eyes ever). These pages almost had color but alas… you’ll have to imagine.

Spamton immediately knows where and who he is… Tenna… not so much.

The way you’ve talked about diionysan’s swap Tenna is so backhanded. Even if you didn’t mean it that way, you are talking about another artist’s hard work. By all means make your own designs for an AU, but the way you pick apart the things you dislike in HIS design doesn’t offer any real constructive insight (which he didn’t even ask for in the first place). It’s just respectful to ask a fellow creator to revamp their AU at all, especially if they are still a present part of the community you’re in. And the fact that you publicly express that you “love everything about someone’s work EXCEPT…” is just rude. Diionysan is not a celebrity, he is just like any other artist on this platform and deserves some decency

I guess I saw Diionysan’s Swap AU more as a general AU that belongs to the fandom since it’s gotten so popular, and I didn’t mean anything bad to Diionysan specifically, I just didn’t think about it very hard and that’s on me. Yeah, it’s shitty to put down other artists just for having fun with AUs in a fandom space and that wasn’t my intention. I’m sorry for not thinking about him when I wrote that and for acting like an ass.

Honestly, I’m really inspired by Diionysan’s Swap AU art. There’s a lot of really fun ideas, creative twists, and stellar design choices with the characters that were interesting enough to make me draw the swaps all the time and ponder how their world works, how their story went, etc. I’d be honored to talk with the guy about the swap AU but I don’t think he’s active on Tumblr?? And I don’t have Twitter (though I do have Instagram, but I haven’t posted there in years)?? I don’t even know if I’d get a response.

I suppose I wrote that description on the Swap!Tenna redesign post just thinking about it as describing where I was coming from with the design and that’s why it wasn’t very constructively critical. More of a “here’s what inspired me,” “here’s what I want to keep,” “here’s what I want to change” sort of deal. I don’t want to rework Diionysan’s swap au with the intention of calling it bad and calling mine the better or anything, I was just playing around with swap AU interpretations, but I see what you mean about it being insensitive to the original artist to think like that.

Thank you for calling me out about this. I already planned on moving further away from Diionysan’s designs with swap AU stuff I draw in the future to differentiate my take on the swap AU from Diionysan’s. (I’m still really behind on posting all the art I’ve drawn recently so bear with me on waiting until I get around to posting the newer stuff where I’ve tweaked the designs.) Going forward I will be less disrespectful toward him and his designs.

I also love how you make defernull (and swap) Spamtenna. The fanarts I usually see depict those versions in an abusive way, but your way of depicting them is way nicer and so god damn cute they are so silly (and not abusive) and I love it. They have communication problems but that's just their spamtenna flaws and I love how you represent them💖💖

Spamtenna vacation album, all photos inside follow the exact pattern of the first one being a typical vacation photo, and the one right afterwards is that very same photo but something has gone HORRIBLY wrong. Like them visiting a cave and the second photo has them somehow managing to get impaled by the stalactites. Or them having a nice fancy dinner and the next one just has everything on fire.

Imagine dying by being stabbed in the back and although you agreed to be given away, coming back to life in a strange and unfamiliar place only cements that you were never really more than just another piece of furniture in the place you’ve always called home and the people you’ve always called your family. He finally addressed his greatest fear, but it doesn’t make it any less devastating to move away.

Has swaps spams watch ever malfunctioned? In the past or present (or do other spams know that he has self made puppet version of himself?)

For the watch question: yes, most definitely. The watch is a post-cleave swap development from Spam (again) scrapping together the bits of his hologram machine in order to keep up his big shot persona. However, after the cleave, there’s not that much left so it’s a very finicky Holospam projector that can only project enough to cover his face. This lore starts getting into post-canon (as in post ch3), so it’d be mostly up to Swap!spamtenna sorting their bullshit out individually and together before Spam can ditch the Holospam fully.

For the AU crossover question: yeah, I think the other spamtons would be able to see swap’s Holospam for what it is, even if Swap!Spamton himself doesn’t see it as a puppet he’s turned himself into.
