ok I'll just say it here already because every time it happens once again it just pisses me off more listen why on earth is it so normal for everyone to just use spanish randomly. i support when people decide to practice it by posting on it sometimes that's good great even. if you're my friend you know that i love it when people ask me questions about it. but it's soooo awkward when people that haven't picked it up since spanish 2 in middle school just throw an hola amigo 😍 randomly it doesn't even matter if there are hispanics in a 2 km radius. actually if you do that in front of hispanics it makes it weirder. Anyways no clue why everyone is so aware using foreign languages randomly to look quirky or whatever is odd at best and fetish-y at worst except when it comes to spanish. Be normal.

ok per that last post I rb'd, fun fact for non-americans! The accent that Americans will annoyingly refer to as being "no accent" or "standard american" or something like that is essentially a west coast accent

It's considered the default here because it's how news anchors and tv hosts are trained to talk. So not only do a lot of people from the western third or so of the country already talk like that, but a lot of people from elsewhere in the states will pick it up from watching TV as a kid, thus making it seem less like a regional accent and more like the american accent.
